Chapter 442 – Ovakin’s Determination
Chapter 442 – Ovakin's Determination
Flowers are beautiful and vibrant, yet they inevitably fall into the mud.
In a world of harsh realities, there are far too many disappointments. Especially when facing countless terrifying disasters, who dares claim they can surely become a beacon of hope and savior? Who dares say the happiness and peace around them can last forever?
Ovakain understood this well. He had lived too long, experienced too many helpless situations, and witnessed too much sorrow beyond his power. Perhaps in the eyes of ordinary people, a Master-Level expert capable of protecting a Kingdom might seem omnipotent. But only with broader perspective can so-called “powerful beings” recognize their own insignificance and understand their limitations.
Indeed, accidents were accidents. Ovakain had done his utmost. Even a half-step Legendary black dragon couldn’t prevent unforeseen events. He wasn’t at fault – those responsible for the innocent Little Girl’s death were the cruel goat-men and the wicked Nightmare Cult!
But… how could emotions diminish or disappear simply because one was “powerless”?
When the little girl named Ya Nuo fell from the sky, when this lively, adorable, well-behaved child transformed into a blossoming blood flower, when her deeply hidden trust in her savior – the big brother – suddenly shattered into pieces, Ovakain felt as if he had returned to that heart-wrenching night that pained him whenever recalled. That devastating fury of watching something he was determined to save being destroyed before his eyes surged through Ovakain’s heart once more, like the eruption of the “Sleeping Dragon” Volcano.
The blood on the ground spoke a truth to the black dragon – he had failed to repay the trust of this Little Girl he’d only met once, just as he had failed to repay the trust of Dragon Roar Kingdom’s subjects. Once again, he had been “powerless”…………
“That… Mr. Ovakain… this wasn’t your fault. It was just an accident…”
Seeing Ovakain standing motionless for so long, silently staring at the pool of blood, Aisha felt her breath catch. At this moment, she no longer faced the youth who usually appeared helpless and even somewhat timid. Instead… she faced a furious dragon. Perhaps in the next second, perhaps much later, but sooner or later, that terrifying Dragon Breath of wrath – capable of crumbling mountains and splitting earth – would descend like sky-rending thunder.
At this point, even Aisha dared not say more. She could keenly sense the black dragon’s long-suppressed anger nearing its breaking point, and even more profoundly feel the profound, lingering sorrow intertwined with that fury within Ovakain.”Let’s go, Aisha. We’ll track down these goatmen leaders one by one and interrogate them. I’m certain at least one of them can tell me where the Nightmare Cult’s stronghold is. I’ve almost figured it out – these goatmen’s actions are targeting me specifically. They’re trying to provoke me, to force me to seek out the Nightmare Cult myself.”
Facing tragedy’s recurrence, the grief-stricken Ovakain didn’t resort to hysterical threats – he had already done that to Punk in the Hoth Mountains. Curses and vows couldn’t intimidate enemies nor soothe the fury raging within him.
At this moment, the black dragon’s voice remained calm, yet that calmness was like drawing a blade from molten lava. The extreme composure burned with volcanic intensity, making it clear to anyone that this sword ignited by vengeance was about to strike the enemy with dazzling fury.
“But… this is clearly a trap. We should deliberate carefully…”
Hearing Ovakain’s icy tone – more terrifying than outright rage – Aisha immediately understood the always-kindhearted powerhouse before her had been thoroughly provoked. That terrifying anger declared someone would pay the price.
Still, Aisha sincerely offered her advice. Though reason told her that Ovakain’s retaliatory strike against the Nightmare Cult would benefit her as Queen of the Huaibien Kingdom… emotionally, she couldn’t help worrying for this “youth” burdened with countless heavy memories.
Yet Ovakain clearly had no intention of heeding Aisha’s advice. Perhaps such caution was rational and correct. Ovakain knew the importance of careful planning, but…
“No more deliberations. We don’t have that kind of time. These goatmen are being controlled by the Nightmare Cult. Until the cult is destroyed, their invasions won’t stop! Ultimately… those damned Nightmare Cultists have done wrong, and they must pay! Moreover…”
Here, Ovakain’s furious eyes momentarily flashed with resentment darker than ink.
“My old ‘acquaintance’ will surely follow! Whatever trap the Nightmare Cult has set, at least that fellow can’t escape either. It seems all my enemies might gather together. I’m tired of this evasive existence anyway – might as well use the cult’s trap to settle all scores.”
Perhaps kind people are easily manipulated because they always charge into difficulties despite knowing the risks, even facing death fearlessly. For them, wisdom is often just a tool for necessary moments rather than a life principle. Their eternal creed is persisting when success seems impossible. But… does this truly have meaning?
Long, long ago, during the “Cage Escape” period, Ovakain had agonized over this question. One person’s kindness seems so insignificant. A good person’s revenge can’t frighten the wicked. Spreading kindness widely remains an unattainable dream. So… does one person’s kindness still matter?Ovakain didn’t know whether others’ kindness held any meaning. His reason told him that following Aisha’s advice to wait and calm down was the best and most correct choice.
But… even a “monster” like Punk, who had discarded much of his emotions, could feel rage at times. Who could guarantee that reason would always prevail over emotion?
Or, from another perspective, wasn’t emotional fulfillment also an extremely important benefit—perhaps even more crucial than merely “surviving”?
Therefore, regardless of whether impulsiveness aligned with material interests, Ovakain’s heart wouldn’t allow him to keep running. He had to do something. He had to unleash his furious vengeance—not just for the innocent little girl who had already died, but also… to prevent the black dragon, who could no longer suppress his emotions, from going mad the next second.
Perhaps this was just who Ovakain had always been. He would rather die in a blaze of glory than descend into mindless insanity.
“Heh, the flames of hatred have ignited my spine. From this moment on, my revenge will wait no longer. Nightmare Cult, and… Punk Cyan, it’s time to end this agonizing manhunt. Though the odds seem slim… I simply can’t wait any longer!”
With a self-mocking laugh, his pupils seeming to reflect a roaring dragon of fury, Ovakain strode toward the howling army of goat-headed creatures. Just as he had declared, he could no longer wait to bring this to an end.
