Chapter 452 – Outburst Attack
Chapter 452 – Outburst Attack
To be honest, Punk was quite dissatisfied with Kane’s decision to initiate combat without consultation. Waiting for Ovakain’s arrival aligned with Punk’s interests as well. Engaging Sorsend recklessly like this would spell trouble if they failed to react promptly when Ovakain eventually descended.
Of course, Kane would never concern himself with Punk’s plans—in fact, disrupting Punk’s schemes was precisely one of the reasons he eagerly launched his assault now.
Seeing Kane erupt with Combat Skill and Charge toward Sorsend, Punk knew he could no longer prevent the battle. Moreover, he had to cooperate with Kane to seize the upper hand, at least for now. Unless Punk wanted to face both Sorsend and Ovakain—two Level 19 Peak Spellcasters—alone after Kane was dealt with, he couldn’t abandon his ally.
With no alternative, Punk could only frown at Kane’s “you handle the complications, I’ll handle the Charge” attitude and cast his spell:
“Master-Level Mind Spell—Mind Barrier.”
As a translucent soul crystal shattered into glittering fragments mid-air, vast mana swiftly carried these shards to merge with the spell model in Punk’s hands. In less than a tenth of a second, the energy coalesced into a small, pale-white polyhedron in his palm.
Having anticipated Sorsend’s proficiency in mind magic, Punk had prepared several counter-spells during their journey. This Master-Level “Mind Barrier” was one of them. Though insufficient time prevented mastery, casting it swiftly with materials amid minimal interference posed no issue.
Though Punk’s casting lagged slightly behind Sorsend’s, the latter’s spell lost momentum chasing the rapidly moving Kane. Thus, Punk’s “Mind Barrier” intercepted “Mosa’s Heart of Terror” just before it struck Kane’s head.
Crack!
The pale-white energy cone of Sorsend’s spell collided with Punk’s pale-white polyhedral crystal. Both geometries flashed blindingly like incandescent bulbs, scattering fragmented psychic energy from the impact. Nearly solidified shards of force rippled against Kane’s golden Battle Aura.
Without employing “Mana Compression,” Punk’s spell proved inferior to Sorsend’s. Upon collision between the offensive “Mosa’s Heart of Terror” and defensive “Mind Barrier,” the latter shattered first.
Yet the potent counter-spell achieved its purpose: though Sorsend’s overwhelming mana barely breached the “Mind Barrier,” the weakened attack lacked strength to penetrate Kane’s Battle Aura armor.Countless fragments ultimately shattered against Kane’s high-pressure Battle Aura, and even the minimal negative magical emotions that barely seeped into his soul could no longer cause any disturbance.
Within this brief exchange of offense and defense, Kane successfully closed in on Sorsend.
Under the furrowed gaze of the grim Old Man, the enraged knight raised his Long Spear and thrust it fiercely toward the elder’s head.
“Good morning~ my friend”!
Drawing out his tone with arrogance, Kane bared his teeth in a roar and unleashed another Combat Skill, driving his Lance mercilessly toward Sorsend. The ear-piercing roar in the air now carried the sound of space tearing like cloth.
“Master-Level Combat Skill—Flash Needle”!
True to its name, the Lance in Kane’s hand now resembled a shimmering needle of light. The Douqi Condensation at the spearhead created a sharp focus no larger than a needle’s point, concentrating the weapon’s energy to a terrifying degree. If struck, conventional defenses like the “Aura Interference Shield” or “Anti-Aura Barrier” would be utterly useless. While the destructive power of Kane’s current technique might not be overwhelming, its penetrative force was such that even Ovakain with fifteen layers of magical protection would have to evade.
But… would Sorsend be hit by such an attack?
Even as Kane closed in enough for the Old Man’s aged face to cast a Projection on his polished armor, the grim elder showed not a trace of panic. From the battle’s outset, the sinister Old Man had maintained an air of unshakable control, as if the two Master-Level combatants before him were merely children, every move unfolding under his command:
“Speaking of which… this old man’s trump card is particularly suited for dealing with martial professionals. Vector”!
Issuing the command loudly, Sorsend stood his ground without evasion, continuing to prepare his spell. On his shoulder, the previously motionless Magic Raven suddenly spread its wings.
“Caw caw, magic is so much fun, caw caw”!
With the raven Vector’s eerily childish voice, a shimmering rainbow halo abruptly manifested on Sorsend’s Mage Robe.
“BOOM”!!
The next instant, as Kane descended like a meteor, both Sorsend and the raven on his shoulder vanished within the exploding dust. The entire Cave crumbled layer by layer under the terrifying shockwave, rocks from the ceiling collapsing under violent tremors, and nearly half the Oasis plunged into the collapsing cavern.
Undoubtedly, this demonstrated the devastating power of Kane’s attack—but the widespread cave-in also confirmed another fact: Kane had missed!
Almost instantaneously, the magical energy erupting around Sorsend dispersed the swirling dust. Illuminated by the spell light rapidly coalescing in the Old Man’s hands, Kane’s situation was once again revealed before Punk’s eyes!Kane’s long spear was almost completely embedded in the ground beneath Sorsend’s feet. Radiating cracks centered around the point of impact formed massive concentric craters, revealing the immense power behind Kane’s strike.
Yet… this attack unleashed by a Master-Level combatant—had completely missed its mark!
Indeed, the strike hadn’t even grazed a single thread of Sorsend’s clothing. The terrifying destructive force was forcibly diverted around Sorsend, with every wisp of erupted Battle Aura perfectly avoiding Kane’s intended target. It was as though… all the energy, matter, and even space that Kane had directed toward Sorsend’s advance had been deflected by an invisible hand. No matter how much Battle Aura Kane released to propel himself forward, the trajectory of these energies no longer obeyed the laws of physics.
Without a doubt, this was the power to alter physical laws within a localized area—this was the genuine… Legendary Spell!
