Chapter 496 – The Legacy of the Gods
Chapter 496 – The Legacy of the Gods
Hearing Kane’s confident declaration, Punk didn’t immediately dismiss it. He knew that while Kane might usually appear frivolous and unreliable, when it came to crucial matters, the knight’s calm rationality was no less than any caster’s.
Since he dared propose such a risky plan now, he must have substantial evidence to back it up.
Therefore, Punk didn’t leave immediately. He continued watching Kane quietly, curious what this cunning knight would say next.
Despite Punk’s earlier mockery, Kane showed no signs of discouragement. Instead, the steadfast knight grew even more assertive.
Bathed in the radiant glow of his armor, the confident knight declared loudly to Punk:
“Fortune favors the bold! How can one gain without taking risks? Though my plan may not be perfect, its rewards would astonish anyone—Divinity, God Realm, treasures accumulated by a deity over countless years. Don’t tell me you’re not tempted, greedy Mr. Punk Cyan!”
Kane’s voice rang with conviction! Clearly, he had well-defined expectations for the potential rewards.
Meanwhile, one particular word Kane mentioned made Punk’s heart jolt violently!
“Divinity”!!
Almost instantly, Punk instinctively recalled the name of a precious potion!
“Redeemer’s Divinity Neutralizer”!
This potion was crucial for assisting in advancement to Legendary rank. If consumed before breakthrough, it could directly increase a level 19 powerhouse’s success rate by fifty percent. Among numerous “Legendary Breakthrough Assistance Potions,” this one had the simplest preparation, required the fewest ingredients, and yielded the best effects. For a Master-Level Caster more skilled in alchemy, the greatest challenge in brewing this potion typically came down to one thing—the main ingredient, Divinity!
Divinity might sound simple, but it was essentially a deity’s soul stripped of self-awareness. When a god fell or voluntarily severed part of their soul, the soul fragment—deprived of divine office support—would lose consciousness and become “Divinity.”
Therefore, generally speaking, there were only two ways to obtain “Divinity”: either have a deity willingly cut their own soul, or directly slay a god…
Obviously, neither task was something a Master-Level Caster could realistically contemplate. Thus, Punk had previously only sighed quietly while studying the “Redeemer’s Divinity Neutralizer” formula inherited from Vedrasha.
But he never expected that meeting Kane today would bring news about Divinity. This alone was enough to make Punk intensely interested in Kane’s “great adventure.”
However, despite his inner turmoil, Punk maintained a composed expression as he said:
“It appears these treasures are indeed valuable. I imagine a deity’s secret treasures would suffice for two or three powerhouses’ preparations before Legendary advancement… In that case, please—Kane Bisadas—elaborate on your grand plan. If it interests me, I might consider joining.”Although his words remained somewhat ambiguous, Punk’s statement of being “interested” was completely genuine. Not only was he interested now—he was “extremely interested”!
After all, opportunities to obtain “Divinity,” a precious Legendary-tier material, were entirely serendipitous. With Divinity in hand, Punk was confident he could concoct the even more valuable “Redeemer Divinity Neutralizing Potion.” This would boost his success rate in advancing to Legendary to a peak of ninety percent—a world of difference from his current forty percent “dancing on a knife’s edge” situation!
As for danger… Punk was never one to lack adventurous spirit. His initial rejection of Kane was solely because the odds seemed too slim and the risks too immense. But now that Kane appeared genuinely confident about minimizing the dangers, Punk saw no reason to shy away from a calculated risk.
There was no helping it—fortune favored the bold, after all. Besides, as Kane had mockingly pointed out, was there anything in this world more perilous than the life-or-death struggle to advance to Legendary?
Thus, with renewed patience, Punk retrieved a refreshing glass of juice from his Storage Ring. Sipping leisurely, he waited for Kane to unveil his “grand adventure plan.”
Seeing that Punk hadn’t simply walked away without even asking for details, the tense Knight visibly relaxed, as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
Ignoring Punk’s minor discourtesy of not offering him a drink, Kane quickly located the spot on the floor where the runic glow was brightest. Then, without further ado, he launched into his “presentation”:
“After over three centuries of meticulous investigation, I can confirm—this fallen deity was an ancient Weak Divine Power. Forty millennia ago, it was known as the ‘Crimson Sand God’ reigning over the Red Sand Sea. As an evil-aligned deity, it held three Divine domains: ‘Inland Oceans,’ ‘Shores,’ and ‘Predators of the Deep’!
These domains weren’t particularly powerful—in fact, they were quite feeble. The ‘Predators of the Deep’ domain granted access to merely 0.003% of the Multiverse’s ‘Evil’ and ‘Death’ laws, while ‘Inland Oceans’ and ‘Shores’ had even more pitiful permissions—just 0.0001% of the ‘Natural’ laws!”
“So it truly was an exceptionally weak deity. Its power was likely equivalent to a freshly advanced Legendary at best,” Punk remarked with a slight sneer after hearing Kane’s description of the “Crimson Sand God.”
A deity’s Divinity functions as a “patch” for the Multiverse—its primary purpose being to allocate fractional “permissions” over cosmic laws like “Space,” “Material Motion,” “Evil,” and “Death” for the deity’s use. This allows deities to detect and rectify flaws in the operation of universal laws through their wisdom.
Therefore, unlike Legendary Experts who forge their own law-based power through their souls, deities utilize faith energy to manipulate portions of the Multiverse’s preexisting laws. The more faith they accumulate and the broader their Divinity’s permissions over specific laws, the greater the power they can wield. For a deity like the “Crimson Sand God” with such pitiful authority over laws, even with an abundance of faith power, it would be nearly impossible for him to unleash a divine technique equivalent in destructive power to a Legendary Spell. The importance of Legendary Divine Techniques in combat is self-evident, so Punk’s lack of disdain for this deity’s weakness is entirely justified.
Because it is simply a fact—and one that brings Punk great delight!
(Note: Although the terms “Legendary-level Spell” and “Legendary Spell” differ by only one word, their actual effects and difficulty are worlds apart.
A Legendary-level Spell is a commonly used technique by Legendary Experts with relatively low consumption, essentially serving as a standard offensive method. In contrast, a Legendary Spell consumes immense resources but delivers exceptionally devastating power, functioning as a Legendary Expert’s ultimate move!
Descriptions of Legendary Divine Techniques, Legendary Fighting Techniques, and other Legendary-level methods all adhere to the principles outlined above.)
