Chapter 69
Chapter 69
Uроn аrriving аt the Flamе Fоrgе, Кhаn, Byutek, аnd Shаrin opеned the fоrgе’s dооr.
Тhе reasоn they соuld oреn thе dооr of thе Flamе Forge, whiсh rеsеmblеd a fortrеss, was рreciselу bеcause of thе сard key Kalsеn hаd possessed.
‘A саrd key infusеd with Mаnа… fаsсinating.’
This Manа-infused cаrd kеу was the vеrу kеy that сould oрen the door оf thе Flame Fоrgе.
Sincе it was an оbject imbued with Мanа, in а way, it could alsо be соnsidеred аn Artifaсt.
Rumblе….
Аs the doоr of thе Flаmе Fоrgе slowlу орenеd, Кhan spoke up.
“Byutek, Sharin. You two should rest a bit now.”
“What are you saying, Sir Khan! I’m still full of energy!”
“I want to fight a little more too?! Please leave it to us, Master!”
Byutek and Sharin had just been engaged in a brawl with the mercenaries of the Kalsen Mercenary Group.
Fortunately, aside from Kalsen, the other mercenaries were incompetent, so Byutek and Sharin could easily defeat them.
‘Now that my Mana is fully recovered, it’s better for me to step in. And since Bron will be inside the forge, this is a good opportunity to earn a bit more favor.’
Khan wanted to use this incident as an opportunity to build a good relationship with Bron.
‘Even if this wasn’t a Quest, it was something that needed to be resolved.’
Although a Main Quest had suddenly been generated and he was currently progressing through it, in truth, even without the Quest, Khan would have inevitably clashed with the Kalsen Mercenary Group.
‘Thanks to that, a Main Quest was generated, so it’s all the better for me.’
As mentioned before, Main Quests are the most important element in <Geo Arc>.
The direction of the Main Quest is determined by how the Player acts.
And from Khan’s current feeling, it seemed the Main Quest was progressing in a very favorable direction.
‘First, once I finish dealing with this Main Quest, the Kalsen Mercenary Group, the next Quest is pretty much predictable.’
Rumble….
While briefly lost in his own thoughts, the massive door of the Flame Forge fully opened, releasing the intense heat from inside.
“Sir Khan, please leave this to us after all……”
Byutek, standing behind Khan, placed his hand on the greatsword strapped to his back and spoke, but his words couldn’t be finished.
Whoosh…!!!!!!
The moment the door fully opened, blue Mana flowed from Khan’s body, and a massive Fireball was being created.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh…!!
Roar roar roar roar roar…!!
“Wh-what is that?!”
“Intruders!!”
“Kill them!!”
The mercenaries guarding the blacksmiths belatedly grasped the situation and urgently shouted.
Pat! Pat! Pat!
Khan carefully observed the movements of the mercenaries charging toward him.
And upon checking the Levels displayed above their heads, he felt somewhat relieved.
‘I can take them down without issue.’
Their Levels ranged from the late 10s, with the highest being around the early 20s.
“The insects are gathering on their own. Die.”
Seeing the mercenaries was like watching moths flying into a flame.
The most basic thing when facing a Mage is to kill them before they can cast Magic.
They probably charged desperately aiming for that, but it was actually a good thing for Khan.
If he had recklessly launched the Fireball, the entire Flame Forge could have burned down, and the blacksmiths inside could have been injured.
Flick.
Roar roar roar roar!!
As Khan extended his hand, the Fireball swiftly flew toward the mercenaries.
“Kyaaaaaaaaah!!”
The mercenaries, who had been charging in high spirits, couldn’t even react to the incoming Fireball and screamed as they burned to death.
Swoosh.
Simultaneously, to minimize damage to the Flame Forge, Khan withdrew his Magic.
Meanwhile, the blacksmiths inside the forge stared at Khan with dumbfounded expressions at the events that unfolded in an instant.
Among them, the person who grasped the situation the fastest was Bron, the true owner of the Flame Forge.
“S-Sir Mage…!! So the signal you gave back then… meant you would save us!”
Bron ran toward Khan with a bright smile.
Khan lightly nodded.
At this moment, Khan couldn’t fully focus on Bron.
‘This is…?’
The moment he defeated the mercenaries, Khan’s attention was captured by the message that appeared before his eyes.
[Quest cleared.]
[Acquired a large amount of Experience Points as a reward.]
[Level increased.]
[Level increased.]
[Level increased.]
Just clearing one Main Quest caused his Level to rise by three at once.
Normally, clearing a Main Quest and gaining even one Level was considered a significant increase.
It seemed that due to the Hidden Quest, he had skipped the very early stages.
‘Perhaps I received more Experience Points because I cleared a Quest that was difficult relative to my Level.’
Below that, a new Main Quest message immediately appeared.
-
[Perfect Artifact Crafting]
-
Accept the Main Quest?
-
If refused, the Main Quest will be deleted.
-
Reward: Large amount of Experience Points, progression to the next Main Quest
Upon seeing the Main Quest message, Khan couldn’t immediately accept it because he had no idea what this Quest was about.
‘Roughly as I predicted, it’s an Artifact-related Quest… but what is a ‘Perfect Artifact’?’
Khan had thought the next Quest would be receiving an Artifact from Bron.
But it seemed his prediction was slightly off.
“When I first saw you, I thought you were a cold person… but to save us like this…. I sincerely thank you!”
“I didn’t do it alone. Byutek and Sharin also helped save you, so thank them.”
“Sir Knight and the Mage’s Disciple, right? I bow my head in gratitude…! Of course, I don’t intend to let this go without proper thanks.”
Bron bowed his head once more to Byutek and Sharin, expressing his gratitude.
Then, with an expression that still seemed disbelieving, he shouted at the blacksmiths who were still standing there.
“Hey, you all! Freedom has finally arrived, why are you standing there so dumbfounded! Bring the items from my workbench!”
“Ah, yes!”
At that, one blacksmith quickly ran to Bron’s workbench and brought the Artifacts.
In his hands were one massive greatsword and two staves emitting a peculiar Mana.
“First, this is for Sir Byutek. I made it a similar size to the greatsword you carry, so please hold it.”
“Ooh, just a glance tells me it’s a perfect sword! The blade is so sharp it’s dazzling…!”
“I embedded a Mana circuit inside the greatsword, so even if Sir Byutek doesn’t heavily utilize his Mana, you should be able to use it a little.”
As soon as Byutek heard Bron’s words, he immediately drew out the Mana from the greatsword.
Hum…….
Then, a faint blue light of Mana manifested from the greatsword.
Byutek still couldn’t use Mana, but as Bron said, the greatsword alone manifested Mana, creating a surprising spectacle.
“It’s an incredible masterpiece! Does it have a name?”
“I named it ‘Sword of Radiance.’”
“Hahaha, a splendid name! Thank you!”
“I should be the one thanking you. I’m truly glad you like it.”
While checking the information of the ‘Sword of Radiance’ that Byutek held, Khan felt a bit of anticipation.
‘An Epic Rank sword….’
An Artifact of Epic Rank, surpassing Rare Rank.
Epic Rank Artifacts are quite rare.
When playing <Geo Arc>, Epic Rank weapons often traded for quite high prices.
And their performance should be quite good.
Next, Bron picked up a wand and approached Sharin.
“This is a wand I thought would suit Lady Sharin well. It’s a staff that greatly increases Mana Efficiency.”
“Wow, thank you!”
“Lady Sharin seems to possess boundless Mana, so I made it thinking… it will probably be of great help.”
As soon as Sharin grasped the wand, she immediately felt she could handle the Mana inside her body more easily than before.
“Wow… really?! But how did you know I have a lot of Mana? You only saw me briefly….”
“Haha, for a seasoned blacksmith, that’s basic. Anyway, I’m glad you like it.”
Khan checked the wand in Sharin’s hand this time as well, and like the ‘Sword of Radiance’ Byutek received, it was an Epic Rank Artifact.
‘Mine should be at least Epic Rank too.’
Now, only one staff remained on Bron’s hand, the one to give to Khan.
Khan thought that once he received that staff, his business at the Flame Forge would be completely finished, but upon reflection, the Quest bothered him a bit.
‘Then what exactly is the Quest?’
Bron walked toward Khan holding a rather long staff.
“Sir Khan.”
As Bron called him, Khan looked at him without answering.
“Actually, the staff to give you, Sir Khan… is incomplete. So I can’t give you the staff yet.”
“…….”
What nonsense is this now.
The Artifact crafting commission was entrusted by Khan himself, yet only Byutek’s and Sharin’s items are finished, not his own.
‘What the….’
Khan was momentarily dumbfounded, but even this subsided instantly thanks to the ‘Sage’s Heart’ he possessed.
Having regained his composure in an instant, Khan spoke.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Actually, about that… the Cerberus’s Hellfire Soul and Griffin’s Horn you gave me still have a little left. However… for a Mage of exceptional skill like you, Sir Khan, I want to create the best masterpiece I can. By any chance… could you obtain a few more item Materials I desire?”
“…….”
Only then did Khan understand what the Main Quest was about.
Now, come what may, he had to fulfill Bron’s request.
If he refused here, the Main Quest would disappear.
‘And if he makes an even more perfect staff for me, it’s a good thing for me.’
What kind of Artifact is he trying to make that requires this?
Suddenly, he felt a bit of anticipation.
“That shouldn’t be too difficult. What Materials do you need?”
“Oh… thank you! I will truly make a perfect staff for you! As for the Materials… I’ll inform you again tomorrow once I have them organized. For now, it’s late today, so could you come back tomorrow?”
“Understood.”
With that, Khan left the Flame Forge with Byutek and Sharin.
Even as they left the forge, Bron and the other blacksmiths repeatedly expressed their gratitude for being saved.
And that night.
News about the Kalsen Mercenary Group was spreading in Erindel.
A man who appeared to be a Noble and a Knight kneeling on one knee, delivering a report.
“Kalsen is dead, and all the mercenaries of the mercenary group are dead…?!”
“…Yes.”
“Who on earth, who did this?!”
“It’s not certain yet, but it seems to be the work of a Mage.”
“A Mage? You’re saying a Mage did it alone?”
“Based on what’s been confirmed so far, yes… but I’ll investigate further.”
“What have you been doing until now without finding out?! Find out quickly!”
“Yes…!”
At the Noble’s shout, the Knight hurriedly left the room.
“Kalsen is dead… I can’t believe it. Who on earth…?”
The Noble frowned and sank into thought.
Who could be the Mage who killed a strong warrior like Kalsen?
