Chapter 256 – You, Scram (Part Three)
Chapter 256 – You, Scram (Part Three)
After stopping the treadmill, Ye Yunxi pulled a bottle of mineral water from the fridge, twisted it open, and leisurely walked to the handrail. She tilted her head back to drink.
Her long hair was tied up in a high ponytail, fully revealing her exquisite face. Beads of sweat trickled down her fair neck. Even the simple act of drinking water carried an exceptionally handsome aura, making those watching from below unconsciously tense their throats.
The noisy scene instantly fell silent.
After finishing the water, Ye Yunxi leisurely screwed the cap back on, maintaining her posture leaning against the handrail. Her dark eyes lowered slightly like a monarch overlooking the mortal world.
“What’s all the commotion?”
Her words were faint and devoid of fluctuation, but due to Ye Yunxi’s imposing presence, they made everyone’s hearts tremble.
Zhan Hong had prepared a whole speech, but now she couldn’t utter a single word.
“She wants to join the society,” Sun Chao quickly explained.
“You’re the reviewer. Since you’ve been given this authority, don’t come to me with such matters.”
She was the president, but that didn’t mean she had to handle everything personally, right?
Sun Chao hurriedly added, “My review determined she doesn’t meet the requirements.”
“N-no, that’s not right!”
Zhan Hong quickly interjected, “Ye Yunxi, look at my transcript! My grades are the best among all applicants—there’s absolutely no way I shouldn’t pass!”
She immediately offered her transcript, but since Ye Yunxi was upstairs, she dashed toward the staircase instead.
Sun Chao and the others were startled and tried to stop her, but they were already too far behind. Just as Zhan Hong was about to reach the upper floor, a sharp cry echoed through the air. Hades spread his wings and swooped down. With one flap of his wings, Zhan Hong screamed in terror, missed her step, and tumbled down.
Fortunately, she hadn’t climbed high, and the floor was covered with a wool carpet, so Zhan Hong wasn’t injured. She scrambled to her feet, pointed at Hades, and shouted angrily, “You damned beast! Blind creature!”
“Caw!”
Hades spread his wings wide, revealing his fierce and menacing appearance!
Zhan Hong shuddered in fear, quickly retreating several steps until she was back at the entrance.
Gnashing her teeth in frustration, she looked up and yelled, “Ye Yunxi, what are you playing at? Isn’t your society recruiting anymore?”
Ye Yunxi glanced down contemptuously and said indifferently, “Get out.”
“What?”
What was this person saying? Her joining would undoubtedly be the greatest asset—why wouldn’t they want her?
“Sun Chao already said you don’t meet the requirements. So, get out. This is the Night Phoenix Society, not a place for you to throw tantrums!”
“You trust him just like that?”
Zhan Hong found it unbelievable. Wouldn’t they even glance at her resume?
“Should I trust you instead?” Ye Yunxi found it laughable. “He’s a core member of Night Phoenix—of course I trust him!”
In that instant, Zhan Hong’s face flushed bright red. She had been so confident about joining Night Phoenix, yet she was being rejected!
Then what was the point of all her fuss?
Was she just a joke?!
“Please leave!”
Sun Chao frowned, while Ren Qi, Fang You, and the other boys gathered around, staring coldly and sternly at Zhan Hong.
“Fine, just wait! You’ll definitely regret this!”
Zhan Hong slammed her resume onto the floor and stormed off.
“Wait.”
The voice from above made her heart leap with joy. Were they regretting it already?
She had said that with her grades, she’d be sought after anywhere!
Hmph!
“What, you want me now? Then I’ll have to add conditions!”
Did they think they could keep her just because they wanted to?
“Take your things and leave.”
“What!”
Zhan Hong was so furious she nearly twisted her nose in anger! The resume still lay on the carpet when Hades let out a sharp cry, spread his wings, and dove down. With one claw, he snatched the resume and lunged toward Zhan Hong.
“Crash!”
The Golden Eagle’s talons were as sharp as the finest blades. Before the resume could reach her hands, it was torn to shreds, scattering like a blizzard of snow and plastering itself all over Zhan Hong’s face!
