Chapter 6 – Powerful Skills
Chapter 6 – Powerful Skills
The red-haired woman’s words left Guan Ning and the others rooted to the spot in shock.
After a few seconds, Zhang Xiaoyun was the first to snap out of it, frowning as she said, “Who are you, and who exactly is your boyfriend?”
“My name is Wu Ying, and I’m Zhou Hong’s girlfriend.”
The red-haired woman sneered, ignoring Zhang Xiaoyun, and turned her furious gaze toward Guan Ning instead.
“You shameless slut, seducing someone else’s boyfriend behind their back!”
Guan Ning raised an eyebrow, a hint of anger appearing on her pretty face.
Just as she was about to speak, Zhang Xiaoyun couldn’t hold back any longer and spoke up.
“Hey, don’t you go spouting nonsense and slandering people! When did A-Ning ever seduce your boyfriend? It’s obviously Zhou Hong who wanted to have his feet in two boats and came crawling over all by himself. My A-Ning never even paid him any attention!”
Wu Ying sneered, “Daring to do it but not daring to admit it? If this woman hadn’t seduced my boyfriend, why would he have cheated?”
“Ha! What’s there to explain about a scumbag cheating? It’s obviously because you have zero charm and can’t keep your boyfriend in line. When you found out he was cheating, you decided to take it out on someone else instead. You’re an embarrassment to women!”
Unexpectedly, Zhang Xiaoyun was quite formidable when it came to arguing.
Her sharp, on-point words made Wu Ying’s face change color with rage.
Seeing that she couldn’t win a war of words, Wu Ying turned to the tattooed young man for help.
“Cousin, help me teach them a lesson!”
The tattooed young man let out a snicker and strode toward the three girls.
“Little girls, there are plenty of people you could mess with, but you just had to pick on my cousin Zhao Kang’s sister. Don’t blame me for giving you a taste of hardship!”
As he spoke, Zhao Kang cracked his knuckles, producing crisp, loud popping sounds.
Guan Ning, Zhang Xiaoyun, and the others couldn’t help but take a step back, their faces turning slightly pale.
After all, they were just high school girls, well-behaved and sheltered, who had never come into contact with thugs like Zhao Kang in their daily lives. Seeing this, fear crept into their hearts.
Just then, Lin Ze stepped forward, placing himself in front of the three girls.
“Brother!”
Guan Ning’s eyes widened in surprise.
Zhao Kang, meanwhile, let out a cold laugh.
“Trying to play the hero and save the damsels, huh, kid? You should weigh yourself on a scale first.”
With that, he suddenly swung his fist at Lin Ze.
The three girls gasped in alarm.
Compared to the burly, imposing Zhao Kang, Lin Ze looked refined and frail.
To anyone watching, if the two came to blows, Lin Ze would undoubtedly be the one getting his teeth knocked out.
But what happened next was utterly shocking.
Lin Ze casually reached out and easily caught Zhao Kang’s fist.
“!!”
Zhao Kang froze for a moment, then snapped back to his senses and flew into a rage, trying to yank his fist back.
But to his horror, the other man’s strength was astonishing—his grip was like an iron clamp, locking tightly around Zhao Kang’s fist.
No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn’t break free from that hand.
“What the hell did this kid eat growing up? How is he this strong?”
Shocked and furious, Zhao Kang swung his other fist instead.
But the moment he moved, Lin Ze countered with a punch of his own, slamming it straight into his face.
Thud!
The dull sound of fist meeting flesh rang out.
Followed by a scream of agony.
Zhao Kang’s burly frame flew backward and crashed heavily onto the ground four or five meters away.
Silence fell all around.
Whether it was Wu Ying or the three girls, everyone stared at the scene in stunned disbelief.
The expected outcome of Lin Ze getting beaten up never came to pass—instead, it was Zhao Kang who had been knocked flat on the ground.
The sight before them gave them all quite a shock.
Zhang Xiaoyun swallowed hard and whispered to Guan Ning:
“Anning, I had no idea Brother Lin could fight like that.”
But Guan Ning was just as bewildered.
She had never seen Lin Ze fight before.
In her memory, her brother was just an ordinary high school boy—there was no reason he should have such formidable fighting skills.
Yet unexpectedly, he had easily taken down even someone as big and burly as Zhao Kang.
On the other side.
Lin Ze slowly withdrew his fist, his expression calm.
The enhancement from the Evolutionary Body-Strengthening Crystal had made his reaction speed and strength far surpass those of an average adult male.
Even without much fighting experience, with his superior reflexes and raw power, he could easily take on several opponents at once.
Even if three or four more men like Zhao Kang came at him, they wouldn’t stand a chance.
“Cousin!”
Snapping back to her senses, Wu Ying hurriedly helped Zhao Kang up, only to be shoved away by him in a fit of humiliation and rage.
Zhao Kang’s face had turned the color of pig’s liver.
He had just been mocking the guy moments ago, and now he’d been knocked flat with a single punch—utterly humiliating. How could he not be furious?
In his anger, he directly summoned his Pet Beast.
A flash of light.
A massive wolf with glossy black fur, the size of a calf, appeared before everyone.
Gloom Wolf!
“You damn brat, I don’t believe you can beat my Pet Beast too!”
Zhao Kang glared viciously at Lin Ze.
Guan Ning, Zhang Xiaoyun, and the others truly changed expression this time.
Although the Gloom Wolf was only an E-rank Pet Beast with no Evolution Form, even if raised to Mature Stage without the aid of Heavenly Treasures, it would at most reach Tier 2 Stage 1.
But unlike them—students who had only recently contracted their Pet Beasts—
Zhao Kang’s Gloom Wolf had clearly been nurtured for a long time, and it was evident it had already reached Mature Stage.
In other words.
Its Power Level was at least Tier 2 Stage 1.
None of them were a match for it.
After all, the strongest among them, Guan Ning, had a Pet Beast at only Tier 1 Stage 9.
Zhang Xiaoyun and Liu Siyan’s Pet Beasts were merely Tier 1 Stage 7 and Tier 1 Stage 6.
As for Lin Ze—
There was no need to even mention him.
Little Snowball’s combat ability wasn’t even worth considering.
And no matter how tough he was personally, there was no way he could defeat a Tier 2 Pet Beast.
“Oh no! What do we do, Anning?”
Zhang Xiaoyun and Liu Siyan were panicking.
Guan Ning was also at a loss.
Only Lin Ze remained calm and composed.
That carefree, unruffled demeanor only stoked Zhao Kang’s fury further.
He hesitated no longer and gritted his teeth as he gave the order.
“Attack!”
He refused to believe it.
Could some ordinary high school kid really stand against his Tier 2 Gloom Wolf?
He wouldn’t dare kill anyone, but teaching Lin Ze a lesson—letting the brat taste some pain—was perfectly fine.
Imagining Lin Ze screaming in terror under the Gloom Wolf’s claws, Zhao Kang felt a surge of satisfaction.
The Gloom Wolf’s attack startled the three girls.
Guan Ning’s expression shifted, and she moved to summon her own Pet Beast.
Even if she couldn’t win against the opponent, she couldn’t just stand by and let the Gloom Wolf hurt Lin Ze.
But before the girl could make a move.
The very next instant.
A wave of cold air suddenly spread through the area.
The temperature in the air dropped sharply.
An Ice Sprite, ethereal and azure-blue all over, as cute as a little human girl, had appeared in front of Lin Ze without anyone noticing when.
Facing the ferociously charging Gloom Wolf, it merely raised a hand lightly.
Crack! Crack!
Countless sharp Ice Spikes materialized out of thin air, hung suspended in the void for a brief moment, then shot forth like a storm of wind and rain.
Swish! Swish!
A piercing sound of air splitting suddenly burst forth.
In an instant, the Gloom Wolf was engulfed in a sky-covering barrage of Ice Spikes.
