As the enemy approached, the Soldiers of the King Nation’s Side also completed their formation. The Monsters formed a horizontal line—a considerably thick formation—approaching with momentum as if to overwhelm us.

In response, the King Nation’s Side also lined up their soldiers horizontally. The thickness of their forces—according to the Familiars observing from above—was roughly equal, or perhaps our side had a slight advantage.

The eastern side was in a similar situation. However, the Northern Region was different, its thickness greater than that of the east and west.

Amidst this, I caught sight of the approaching Monsters from a distance. Kobolds—Monsters referred to as ‘Kobold Soldiers’ in the game. Their abilities were low, and for Sofia or Sylvie, defeating them would not be difficult.

With their Magic Barrier, even if they took hits from Monsters, it wouldn’t be a problem. And Sylvie had her coordination with Kuuza. Sofia was near the General, so she shouldn’t fall into a desperate situation. The problem, as expected, would be the Commander.

They were also equipped with Bracelets that activated Barriers as an emergency measure, so they would be fine in a pinch… Depending on the battle situation, in the game, the Alastin Kingdom side never really faced a devastating situation. It was to the point where they could win by just defending the gate… but seeing the Monsters approaching from the front, I had a feeling it wouldn’t go as it did in the game.

The enemy gradually approached. The approaching horde of Monsters was well-ordered, truly an army. The moment I realized this, tension ran through my body.

Due to the presence of the Demon Race, I couldn’t go all out—though if I wanted to, I could wipe out the Monsters with High-Class Magic. But seeing the Monster Army trying to overrun the Nation, I felt myself getting caught up in the atmosphere.

“…Oh, this isn’t good.”

I consciously relaxed my shoulders. Matching the soldiers around me who were holding their weapons and wary of the approaching Monsters, I too drew my sword.

“Lord Ruon”

Amidst the chaos, Atire, who was nearby, called my name. He had dismounted, apparently intending to fight on the front lines.

“Just to confirm, can you ride a horse?”

“Yes, I can.”

“Understood… Many cavalry are deployed at the North Gate to counter the enemy’s Book unit, the Northern Region. Therefore, the east and west will be primarily infantry.”

As he said, the number of cavalry was not large. Furthermore, these forces were positioned in the rear, near the gate.

“I’ve instructed the cavalry to attack according to the battle situation. The ideal scenario is to find the Commander once the enemy has been somewhat suppressed or pushed back, then charge with the cavalry and eliminate them in one swift blow.”

“And I’ll be participating in that, too.”

Atire nodded. Immediately after, the Soldiers on the front lines readied their spears.

The moment he saw that, Atire muttered.

“There are fewer than reported… Does that mean there are reinforcements behind them?”

Reinforcements—in the game, the Monsters didn’t have reinforcements, but the Commander unit’s initial deployment was slightly behind the main battlefield. The Monsters now confronting us were positioned as vanguards, and more would likely arrive as the battle progressed.

The Soldiers stared at the Monsters and stopped moving. And when the Monsters approached a certain distance, they also stopped.

“…They’re just barely within bow range.”

I heard Atire’s further murmur. The archers, along with the spearmen, should have been ready toLoose arrows at any moment, but it seemed they still couldn’t reach.

Silence temporarily dominated the surroundings. The Kobolds didn’t move, and neither did our side. But just when I thought this equilibrium wouldn’t last for long, I heard a sound like a bird’s cry.

The moment I realized it was a signal, the Kobolds all started moving at once.

Looking at their equipment, most had swords. In the game, weapons were random, but the fact that they were somewhat uniform might be because a large number of Monsters were spawned as an army.

Against the approaching Monsters, our side—as Atire shouted, arrows were simultaneously fired at the Monsters. This seemed to inflict some damage, at least on the Monsters on the front lines, causing them to stop or fall and entangle surrounding Monsters—but they didn’t stop.

If they were Humans, the soldiers might show movements to dodge the arrows. But the Monsters, intent on slaughtering the Humans before them, paid no mind to the arrows whatsoever… and charged forward, undeterred by the damage.

“Fear not, soldiers!”

Then, Atire shouted, raising his spear.

“Know that this battle will decide the fate of Alastin! Rouse yourselves to protect the people and slay as many Monsters as you can!”

At his words, the Knights leading the soldiers roared. Simultaneously, the soldiers also raised their voices, and the Monsters and Soldiers clashed.

The first Monster to reach them was easily annihilated by a soldier’s spear. But more Monsters relentlessly attacked from behind. The soldiers’ spears somehow held them back, but eventually, the Monsters weaved through the spears and slashed at the Soldiers.

The Soldiers also retaliated. And Atire, who was near me, began to swing his spear, annihilating the Kobolds.

I struck down the approaching Kobold before it could even point its sword at me. When I defeated the one in front of me, another one attacked. After dealing with that, yet another came from the front—it was a chaotic melee with friend and foe intermingled, and from my vantage point within it, I couldn’t tell what the battle situation was at all.

Immediately after, a slight gust of wind arose. I turned my gaze to see Atire, blowing away several Kobolds with a single spear strike enhanced by wind.

The element he utilized was Wind—though Wind was merely a supportive role, its true value lay in his well-honed Spearmanship.

From what I could see, the Kobolds seemed to attack Atire without question the moment they saw him—was it because the Demon Race side was aware of him, or because he wore different equipment from the other Soldiers? Either way, I had only one choice.

I defeated a Kobold that was about to close in on Atire. I then eliminated more attacking enemies and… supported Atire.

“Thank you.”

Atire said, regripping his spear. I was about to respond to his words, but before I could, he began to swing his spear. I also followed his lead, pointing my sword at the Monster—and at the same time, began gathering information from the Familiar hovering overhead.

After the initial clash, our side was gradually pushing back. It seemed like we could win if we maintained this battle situation.

But that was only if no more enemies came from behind—while I was thinking, I received a report from the Familiar observing other areas.

The situation on the east side was similar. Sylvie and Kuuza, along with Shelk, were steadily defeating Monsters, to the point where there was no need to worry.

And in the Northern Region, General Bosro himself had not yet moved, so Sofia was also not participating in the battle. I recall Bosuro saying he would avoid moving as much as possible until the battles in the east and west were over, but he was using cavalry to damage the thick Monster army. The battle situation here was also progressing favorably for now.

The initial clash seemed to favor the Alastin Kingdom. But it wouldn’t end there—I turned my gaze to Atire, who was swinging his spear and looking ahead.

“…They’ve come.”

With those words, I also looked forward. Although it was very difficult to see due to the Monsters blocking the view, a new enemy army was visible in the distance.

Immediately, Atire increased the speed at which he slayed Monsters. Furthermore, the other Soldiers also rallied, steadily pushing back the Monsters.

I also swung my sword in response to their movements. As I cut them down one after another, I repeatedly glanced at the enemy army in the rear.

I can’t confirm if there’s a Commander over there due to the distance, but if there is, Atire is highly likely to start moving.

While I supported him, I defeated Kobolds one after another… and at that moment, a Knight approached from behind.
