Chapter 152 – Exchange of Magic and Techniques
Chapter 152 – Exchange of Magic and Techniques
Seeing the “Ragnarok” I created, Feus reacted instantly.
“That magic is–“
“This is the second time.”
Along with the words, a Light Sword shot towards Feus. Unable to evade, the Phoenix took the sword, and light exploded.
An overwhelming torrent of light. Along with it, I clearly felt Feus’s presence temporarily vanish.
The light disappears. It once again became an amorphous flame, which then surged up and took the form of a Phoenix.
“I see, it’s surprising that you can handle Supreme Magic like this.”
“At least you understand that I’m superior to previous challengers, right?”
“…Indeed, that power is quite impressive.”
Acknowledging statement—but the next moment, several fireballs appeared around Feus.
Each of them contained a considerable amount of magic power, and I wasn’t sure if my companions behind me could have defended against them.
A magic that unleashes fireballs in succession is “Crossfire,” an intermediate magic… The fact that it’s merely intermediate, does she want to assert that she hasn’t gotten serious yet either?
“I will be the one to win in the end.”
With the declaration, a fireball was unleashed. In response, I first used “Flame Shield” for defense.
The fireball hit. A roar erupted, and flames danced. But the “Flame Shield” I created completely blocked the fireball.
To counterattack, I first sheathed my sword. Feus seemed to be wondering about my actions, showing a slight hint of caution.
“–King of Wind.”
With those words, a sword with a green blade appeared in my hand. It is one of the methods of creating a weapon through magic, and its name is “Wind King Sword.” Its attack power is enough to contend with high-class demon races, but it is inferior to the powerful armaments obtained in the late game. However, this one has an interesting unique skill.
As soon as I held up my sword, Feus increased her magic power. She was ready to receive my attack.
Will it be good or bad… Let’s fight!
I swung my sword upwards. The technique I used was “Asher Wind,” a special skill of the “Wind King Sword.” The in-game description said it turned the target to dust, but in actual use, the wind released through the sword had the effect of obliterating anything it passed through.
Feus took it head-on. I think she wanted to block my attack and say “it’s not working”… but her plan was completely thwarted.
My wind easily blew away the barrier and passed through the center of Feus’s body. As a result, the Phoenix was split in half, losing its form once again and becoming flames.
“Third time… shouldn’t you get serious now?”
After provocatively saying that, I began an incantation—just then, before the Phoenix could regain its form, flames came.
“Oh!”
But I dodged it with ease. At the same time, Feus’s body returned to normal.
“You dodged well.”
And she spoke.
“I see, you certainly have a point. However–“
“Let me tell you something.”
I stared at Feus and declared.
“You won’t have time to attack.”
Magic Release. Suddenly, the surroundings were enveloped in darkness.
“What… is this!?”
I used Dark Attribute Supreme Magic, “End of Creature.” Feus, enveloped in darkness in an instant, looks like a faint flame being swallowed by the darkness and disappearing.
As expected, Feus tried to resist, but due to the onslaught of darkness, he met his fourth demise.
“Now, what should I do next?”
After a brief thought, I considered using a Sword Technique—this time, I began the Incantation for “Ice Spirit Sword.” There are several types of swords that can be created with magic, the two most common being “Wind King Sword” and “Ice Spirit Sword.” However, “Ice Spirit Sword” has low power for its dedicated techniques, so I’ll be using Magic Sword Technique here.
While I was creating the sword, Feus revived for the fourth time. I held my sword, observing him to see what he would do.
“…Aren’t you coming?”
“After the fourth time, I’d expect there to be some kind of trap.”
In response to my words, Feus silently began to gather Magic Power in his body.
The sensation of Magic Power… it’s probably Fire Attribute Advanced Magic, “Ifrit Force.” It’s a magic where a flame in the shape of a demon attacks… but Feus should be able to use Supreme Magic. Is he not showing his true power yet because he still thinks he has the upper hand?
I readied my sword, preparing to counter his magic. This time, Feus was on the offensive. As I predicted, he used “Ifrit Force.”
In front of Feus, a flame in the shape of a demon appeared. I channeled Magic Power into my sword, preparing to counter it. The flame came towards me. Not yet—draw it closer… Now!
“Hmph!”
With a slight sound, my sword unleashed Ice Attribute Advanced Magic Sword Technique, “White Dance.” This attack sends a massive amount of ice rushing towards the target like a tsunami, and strangely, despite not being a direct sword strike, its power is primarily that of a slash.
Flame and ice clashed. For a moment, my ice was stopped, but then, in an instant, it completely swallowed the flame.
Feus was engulfed in ice. As a result, he was easily frozen, and the ice shattered… leaving no trace of the Phoenix.
“This is the fifth time…”
Just as I muttered that, flames erupted again, and Feus revived. The ability to regenerate from nothing was astonishing; I vaguely thought, “As expected of a Spirit God.”
“…I must say, the power that allowed you to subjugate Garuku and Azua is impressive.”
Feus spoke, simultaneously emitting Magic Power as if to intimidate me.
“You’ve been losing so far… what will you do next?”
Feus didn’t react. I kept my guard up, with “Ice Spirit Sword” activated.
He should have fully understood my abilities by now, but he hasn’t dropped his confident demeanor—no, I should consider that he has a strategy or a trump card. Or perhaps there’s a benefit to Feus repeatedly reviving.
What exactly it is, and what kind of move it is… while I was thinking, Feus spoke.
“Then, how about this?”
A convergence of flames. Likely Fire Attribute Advanced Magic, “Flare Hurricane.” A magic where a vortex of flames attacks the target.
I readied my sword to counter it. I would use the same “White Dance” as before.
“Do you think the same attack will work?”
Feus probably believes that “Flare Hurricane” won’t be blocked. I kept my stance firm and stared at Feus.
“Very well. Then, I’ll show you—this isn’t child’s play anymore.”
Magic was unleashed. Overwhelming Magic Power, along with a vortex of flames, attacked—and I swung my sword.
Just like before, flame and ice clashed. Compared to last time, Feus’s magic was imbued with considerable Magic Power, so it was an even match.
I might even be overwhelmed—just as I thought that, the ice slightly swallowed the flame. “Now,” I thought, and unleashed a follow-up strike. As a result, it even swallowed the vortex of flames—and at the same time, I sensed his plan and began a Magic Incantation.
The ice tried to engulf Feus again. But as expected, since it was the second time, he read its trajectory and dodged it.
“—Up to this point, it’s within my predictions.”
Feus probably intended to distract me with “Flare Hurricane” and then use another magic. And the converging Magic Power was—there was no mistake.
Fire Attribute Supreme Magic, “Explode.” A magic that turns the surroundings into scorched earth with a massive explosion.
“If you’re even using that kind of magic, it seems I’ve earned your respect.”
“I admit that, unlike other humans, you possess immense power. However, as long as you can’t defeat me, defeat is impossible for me.”
“Then—I’ll make the impossible a reality.”
I activated the magic I had been chanting. The magic Feus used was troublesome, causing an explosion and scattering indiscriminate hellfire, but what I activated was a counter-strategy to that—I unleashed Supreme Magic of the Ice Attribute.
