“–Does this mean Lord Ruon hasn’t given up yet?”

Listening to Garuku’s voice, I stared at the bookshelf.

The Library located within the Academia. I don’t know the exact number of books, but it’s an overwhelming amount.

Amidst that, Garuku’s previous line… well, he probably understood what I was trying to do.

“Lord Ruon, wouldn’t it be difficult for you to stop the Demon King’s Magic alone?”

“I’m just exploring possibilities. Since I have time, it wouldn’t hurt to investigate, right?”

Garuku fell silent at my words, and only the sound of my footsteps echoed thereafter.

In my sight, many students were at their desks reading books. Dressed as an Adventurer, I naturally stood out, but basically, no one approached me. I appreciate that, as I want to avoid trouble.

For now, I found some literature on the Demon Race and the Demon King, so I started reading… but these are merely observations about the Demon Race and the Demon King researched by Humans, so it’s probably difficult to find a breakthrough here.

“It seems you find it difficult.”

As if sensing my thoughts, Garuku’s voice reached me. I could only nod.

“It’s a long shot, so it can’t be helped… But can’t we Humans do something about it?”

“It’s the Demon King’s full-blown Strategy, after all.”

“That’s true, but… like in the previous battle, shouldn’t there be a way to break through the Strategy the Demon Race set up in the land?”

“If it were Lord Ruon, what would you have done?”

In response to Garuku’s question, I traced the text in the open book and replied.

“To face the Demon Race head-on in a Magic contest is… or rather, if the activation of Magic would lead to a critical situation, then there’s no other way but to prevent it or suppress it beforehand.”

“To do that against our Demon King would be to set it up from the beginning. Preventing Magic activation itself is difficult, as Lord Ruon explained.”

You’re absolutely right… I groaned and continued speaking.

“A counter-Strategy, huh… If a Demon Race I suddenly encountered had set up some kind of trap, I might be fine, but my comrades would be in danger.”

“You’re quite fixated on counter-Strategies.”

“Well, I’ve become capable of overwhelming the Demon Race in basic combat, but I also have my comrades. I need to be able to respond to sudden situations–“

“Humans have less Magic Power compared to the Demon Race and Spirits. The fact that they can still contend is solely due to Magic Technology and such. Ways to fight back with less Magic Power… and by engaging in group battles, they compensate for individual weaknesses. Lord Ruon is in an extremely exceptional position.”

“Yes, I understand that too.”

“However, it’s difficult to counter the Magic Circles set by the Demon Race. Humans, to begin with, have a low ability to meticulously judge Magic embedded in the land. Since they cannot counter without first analyzing, methods like ours cannot be used.”

The more I hear, the more problems there are… Should I really leave such things to Garuku and the others?

“However, Lord Ruon’s Magic Power is considerable even from my perspective… If this Magic Power is utilized and applied, a method could be constructed for Lord Ruon to counter instantly.”

Oh, that sounds quite hopeful.

“That said, it requires two things, so it won’t be immediate.”

“That’s fine. So, what’s the method?”

In response to my question, Garuku paused for a moment before speaking.

“The biggest obstacle is that Lord Ruon does not possess the Magic Analysis Ability that Spirits and others have.”

“Ah, I understand that.”

“If we can do something about that… or rather, if we can resolve that point, Lord Ruon’s power could achieve something similar to what we do.”

“Specifically, how should we do it?”

“Lord Ruon, you have the Familiar Creation Method, don’t you?”

“Yes.”

“If you apply that and create Spirits specifically for Lord Ruon, it would be fine.”

“It’s almost impossible for Lord Ruon himself to acquire Magic Analysis ability as a Human. But if it’s a Spirit he created, that’s a different story. If I or Lefin teach it analysis ability, it will be perfectly capable of countering.”

“Can’t Familiars do it?”

“Familiars only follow the commands of beings who use Magic, after all. Since Lord Ruon doesn’t possess analysis ability, Familiars would be meaningless.”

—Familiars and Spirits are both masses of Magic Power, but there’s a crucial difference: whether or not they have a will.

There are other differences, but in the history of Humans, there have been Magic-users who created incredible Familiars capable of countering Spirits. So, depending on how it’s done, they could become a force capable of countering the Demon Race. However, since they move based on the Creator’s thoughts and lack a will, Familiars are still just Familiars.

“I-I understand the theory, but… it’s not something you can create so easily, is it? Besides, no matter how much Magic Power I have, creating a Spirit itself is—”

“I said earlier that two things are needed. To supplement Lord Ruon’s point.”

Interrupting my words, Garuku continued.

“First, what’s needed is a being to teach the analysis ability to. As for this, I and Lefin are here, so there’s no problem. And the other is something to store Lord Ruon’s Magic Power.”

“Store?”

“Spirits maintain their bodies with Magic Power. The amount is considerable from a Human’s perspective. Constant Spirit Creation isn’t necessary, but you must produce the Magic Power to create and maintain them.”

“Ah, I see. So, I need something to store Magic Power in order to summon and maintain Spirits.”

“Precisely.”

“Will something like that be easy to find?”

“There are candidates… I am currently active with Spirits, and among them, there was one interesting story.”

“What is it?”

“An Angel Artifact… a Device said to exist for storing an Angel’s Magic Power.”

—Given that it has the power to hold an Angel’s Magic Power, storing a Human’s Magic Power would be trivial.

“So, I’m supposed to look for that?”

“I will investigate where the Artifact is. Lord Ruon, please begin the Spirit Creation work.”

“You say it so easily, but…”

“Regarding that, it would be good to hear from Lefin and the others as well.”

Well, I suppose so… I nodded and closed the Book.

“So my task is to hear what the Spirits have to say.”

“Precisely. I will cooperate as well.”

Things are getting serious now… though, since it’s about countering the Demon Race, I suppose it’s only natural.

I left the Library and headed straight for Sofia and the others. Spirit Creation… I don’t know if it will succeed, but it seemed I wouldn’t be bored in this Academia.
