Chapter 41 – Guild Master of the Three Major Guilds
Annоuncemеnt
Тhе nоvеlizаtion of this wоrk, Bottоm-Тier Нuntеr, hаs bееn deсided!
Furthеrmore, а mаngа аdaptаtion рroject is аlsо in progress.
This is аll thаnks to you, everуоne.
Thank you sо vеry much!
Аsuto, whо simрlу wаnted to rest, madе an immediаtе dеcision оn а rеntal prоpertу that matched thе сondition оf “Нunter-Еxclusivе Condominium Аvailаblе for Immediate Mоve-in.”
Не hаd no intеrest in the flооr рlan and wаs cоmрlеtеlу cluеlеss аbout thе сondominium’s specs.
As long as there was a room where he could settle down and sleep, that was good enough.
However,
“Five hundred thousand yen!?”
“Yes.”
“Not fifty thousand?”
“Yes. The only currently vacant room is that one…”
“Five hundred thousand yen for one month’s rent… Are you serious?”
That amount would be consumed in just one month, equivalent to 250 days’ worth of lodging fees at the internet cafe he usually used.
Just thinking about it made his head spin.
“Is that really the only one available?”
“Hunter properties are extremely popular… I’m sorry.”
“Aren’t there any properties where someone will be moving out soon?”
“It’s only April, so I don’t think any will become available for a while.”
“Five… hundred… thousand… yen…”
Asuto was stunned by the rent that would likely be collected every month.
But it was still far better than having nowhere to stay.
For a drifter like Asuto, a rental contract would normally be difficult, but as expected of a C-Rank Hunter. Just by flashing his license, the contract was completed easily.
And so, he headed toward the condominium he had rented for the first time on his own, but—
“…You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Standing below the condominium in Minato Ward, Asuto gaped at the building.
The entrance was entirely glass-walled. Privacy hedges were planted around it.
The parking lot was lined with Mercedes, Audi, and BMW cars.
Of course, this wasn’t a luxury car showroom.
These were the possessions of the Hunters living here.
Unlike before the Outbreak, the cost-performance of cars nowadays was extremely poor.
You could only drive them inside the Walls, and gasoline prices had skyrocketed.
The fact that they still owned cars (and luxury ones at that) showed the incredible financial power of the residents.
Inside this condominium was the room Asuto had contracted.
A cold sweat broke out on his back.
He never imagined it would be such an impressive high-rise condominium.
“Considering the price, is this… appropriate?”
He had no idea.
He’d never even thought about what kind of room you could rent for five hundred thousand yen.
“Damn money-grubber, you rented another crazy place, huh?”
“Hey, I didn’t expect it to be a condominium this nice, either.”
He flashed his Hunter’s License Card to pass through the security gate. Then, he used a card key to open the entrance door.
He got on the elevator and headed for the 24th floor.
During the ride, Asuto checked the contract over and over.
“…Is this really okay?”
The fact that the condominium was this nice made him anxious if five hundred thousand yen was even enough.
He was on edge, worried that maybe it was only half a month’s rent or something, but nowhere in the contract was any such wording written.
Arriving on the 24th floor, Asuto stood for a moment before the door with his room number.
“…Hey, hurry up and go in.”
“R-right.”
“Don’t tell me you’re scared.”
“I-I’m not scared!”
“Just get in, get in.”
Urged on by Amy, he opened the front door.
Upon entering the genkan, he first saw the sky in the distance.
A large window designed to let in a lot of light was clearly visible even from the genkan.
“It’s totally different from a net cafe.”
“Well, of course…”
“There’s a shoe cabinet!”
And a pretty big one at that.
It was big enough to house about fifty hamsters.
For Asuto, who only owned one pair of shoes, it was completely useless.
He took off his shoes and stepped onto the flooring.
The flooring was so clean he felt almost apologetic for walking on it with his worn-out socks.
He felt no sense of reality that this was his room.
First, he headed toward the living-dining area.
That’s when it happened.
Asuto sensed a presence.
“Who’s there?!”
Instantly, he drew his dagger and assumed a combat stance.
The reason he hadn’t noticed someone’s approach until they were this close was because seeing this room had completely overwhelmed his thoughts.
He had let his guard down too much.
Briefly chastising himself, he glared at the intruder.
The intruder was sitting on a wooden stool and slowly raised both hands.
Seeing that face, Asuto’s heart gave a heavy thump.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“You… you are…”
He had seen that face countless times on TV and in magazines—the boy dressed in a well-tailored suit, with neatly cut short hair.
“Could you be… Mr. Himuro Seiya!?”
“Yes. Nice to meet you, Yuki Asuto.”
Himuro Seiya was the Guild Master leading the Shisei Guild, one of the Three Major Guilds.
In Japan today, there was no one who didn’t know this boy’s name.
He was one of the most famous Hunters.
During the First Outbreak, Himuro awakened as a Hunter at the young age of eleven.
Perhaps because of that, he adapted to his abilities early and shot straight to stardom.
Now sixteen, he was active as a Hunter while also working as a commentator on evening wide shows. He possessed both martial prowess and intellect, and on top of that, he was good-looking.
He had so many fans that just appearing on TV would make his name trend on social media.
Flustered by the sudden appearance of a famous Hunter, Asuto hurriedly sheathed his dagger and straightened his posture.
“U-um, why is Mr. Himuro here? Ah, could this be Mr. Himuro’s room!? My deepest apologies!!”
“No, no, this is your room. I’m the one who let myself in.”
“Huh?”
“Actually, this condominium is owned by an acquaintance. I wanted to meet you directly, Yuki, so I had them open the door for me.”
“I… see.”
“Wanted to meet you directly.”
He never imagined he would hear such words from someone he couldn’t even speak to directly in his previous life.
His heart trembled at the words of the Master of the Three Major Guilds.
“As a small apology for startling you—though it’s not much of one—I’ll give you this chair as a housewarming gift.”
“That’s… I couldn’t possibly accept.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. Chairs are important. Besides, the chair I’m offering isn’t just this one.”
Himuro stood up from the stool and pushed it toward Asuto.
“The Shisei Guild offers to Yuki Asuto—”
By the way, the property Asuto contracted for really exists.
Tower mansions are amazing, huh…
Even cooking rice, the center might stay hard… (ah
