Chapter 358 – Buddha Land on Earth, One Person Blocks a Million Demons
Chapter 358 – Buddha Land on Earth, One Person Blocks a Million Demons
“Yama…”
Wushu Bodhisattva of the Black Lotus Sect gazed solemnly at Buddha Yama seated upon the Golden Lotus Platform atop Little Thunder Sound Mountain.
If the previous Clarity Buddha had only one foot across the threshold of Buddhahood,
Then the present Yama was a true and genuine Buddha.
Although restricted by the Heavenly Dao of the Lower Realm, Yama and Clarity Buddha actually possessed no difference in cultivation level.
Yet just as Kongming had been utterly suppressed by Wushu despite their equal cultivation before,
Cultivation level was never the sole measure of true strength.
Divine Abilities, Buddhist doctrines, and other factors all determined one’s combat prowess.
In comprehension of Buddhist teachings, while Kongming was the most outstanding talent Little Thunderclap Temple had produced in millennia,
Compared to Yama who had attained true Buddhahood ten thousand years ago,
Reaching Buddhahood was merely the minimum requirement to stand before him.
Facing the immense pressure emanating from Yama,
Wushu Bodhisattva decisively chose to strike first.
For he had a premonition that he might only get one chance to attack.
If this single strike failed to achieve sufficient effect,
What awaited him would be Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering, returning to the Nine Realms.
Wushu Bodhisattva pressed his palms together, and a massive black lotus slowly ascended into the sky.
The black lotus intertwined with the sun above, completely blocking the solar radiance,
Causing the previously sunlit Little Thunderclap Temple to instantly reverse day and night, plunging into boundless darkness.
Yet within this darkness, a piercing golden light illuminated the shadows.
This golden radiance emanated from the Buddha-light surrounding Yama.
The inhabitants of Little Thunderclap Temple bathed in Yama’s Buddha-light, feeling their previously agitated hearts become extraordinarily tranquil.
Many monks who had considered betraying Little Thunderclap Temple to convert to the Black Lotus Sect after Clarity Buddha’s defeat,
Now awakened at this moment and reaffirmed their convictions.
However, their transformation held no bearing on the battle’s outcome.
In the distance, the black lotus of Wushu Bodhisattva of the Black Lotus Sect, after obscuring the sun, gradually bloomed.
Black Lotus Buddhist Doctrine, Black Lotus Karma Fire.
As the black lotus unfurled, countless black flames descended from the sky, hurtling toward Yama’s location.
Yama merely watched calmly, making no move to respond.
These black flames were extraordinary,
Manifested from Wushu Bodhisattva’s own Buddhist power.
A single touch of any black flame would make it difficult even for a Transformation Soul Stage cultivator to escape unscathed,
Because what these flames ignited were the desires within human hearts.
As long as any being still harbored the seven emotions and six sensory pleasures,
This Black Lotus Heartfire could ignite them.
But could anyone completely eradicate all emotions and desires?
This was evidently nearly impossible to achieve,
For no one could guarantee being entirely free of desire.
Once inner desires were ignited, they would not only affect the cultivator,
But also nourish Wushu Bodhisattva in return.
Relying on this Buddhist doctrine, Wushu Bodhisattva had remained virtually undefeated for over ten thousand years.
Yet today, Wushu Bodhisattva had met his match.
Buddha Yama didn’t even lift a finger,
Allowing the black flames to descend upon him.
But to Wushu Bodhisattva’s astonishment,
The black flames were extinguished by the Buddha-light surrounding Yama before they could even approach him.It was as if he had encountered some natural predator.
This was the first time Wushu Bodhisattva had experienced such a situation since mastering the Black Lotus Karma Fire.
“Amitabha, benefactor… you have become attached to form.”
Yama looked at Wushu Bodhisattva as if gazing upon some pitiful creature.
This pity ignited a long-dormant rage within Wushu Bodhisattva.
As a renowned Bodhisattva across the Nine Realms, Wushu Bodhisattva had always held himself in high esteem.
He believed that within the sect, aside from the Realm Lord—the Great Merciful and Compassionate Black Lotus Buddha Mother—no one could compare to him.
Yet today, an extraterrestrial Buddha dared to show him such an expression.
What was he pitying about me?
What is there to pity about me?
Consumed by fury, Wushu Bodhisattva cast aside all restraint.
Originally, he had intended to preserve Little Thunderclap Temple, making it a bridgehead for the Black Lotus Sect in this world to aid in spreading their teachings.
But Yama’s expression had thoroughly wounded his pride.
He would make this extraterrestrial Buddha understand that he, a Bodhisattva of the Black Lotus Sect, was not someone to be underestimated by just anyone.
Black Lotus Karma Fire, Great Dark Heaven!
The black lotus behind Wushu Bodhisattva began spinning rapidly, resembling a black sun.
At this moment, its unfolding petals burst into frenzied flames.
Soon, the entire sky seemed filled with relentless black flames, transforming into a sea of black fire.
This sea of fire even affected the Black Lotus Sect members thousands of miles away.
“Ah!”
A Black Lotus Sect Immortal Fiend screamed as a cluster of black karma fire ignited between his eyebrows.
The karma fire quickly drained all the spiritual power from the Immortal Fiend’s body.
Carrying his soul, it flew toward the ‘black sun’ in the distant sky.
Similar occurrences happened to other Black Lotus Sect Immortal Fiends.
Only those at the Nascent Soul Stage or above seemed to realize something, immediately sitting cross-legged on the ground and reciting the Black Lotus Sect scriptures.
This was to pacify their own agitated desires.
After absorbing the karma fire of numerous living beings,
Wushu Bodhisattva’s Great Dark Heaven became even more sinister.
The ‘black sun’ above his head, bathed in karma fire, released a terrifying pressure.
Leaning against this ‘black sun,’ Wushu Bodhisattva coldly stared at Yama, then extended a single finger.
This gesture caused an immediate mutation in the black sun above him.
The karma fire black lotus that had transformed into the black sun slowly descended toward Yama.
As it fell, it grew larger and larger.
Until it completely enveloped Yama’s surroundings.
In response, Yama’s expression remained utterly calm.
As if what he faced was not a great Buddhist Dharma at all,
But merely an ordinary black lotus.
Just as Wushu Bodhisattva’s karma fire black lotus was about to land on Yama,
The Heavenly Eye between Yama’s eyebrows, which had remained closed until now, slowly opened.
Upon opening, strange phenomena immediately arose.
Countless golden lotuses materialized around Yama.
At the heart of these lotuses, scenes were clearly reflected.
Upon closer inspection, these scenes encompassed all living beings.
There were ordinary farmers, noble emperors, warring generals, and peddling merchants.
And within the largest of these golden lotuses,
Were reflections of Yama’s several reincarnations.
Indeed, Juechen was not Yama’s first reincarnation.
Before this life as Juechen, Yama had already reincarnated eight times.
Juechen was Yama’s ninth life.Under normal circumstances, Juechen would only have been able to awaken Yama’s memories after reaching the Mahayana Realm.
However, after undergoing the Sharira baptism from the former abbot of Little Thunderclap Temple and Clarity Buddha,
Yama’s memories were prematurely triggered.
Although forcibly activated, this would not affect Yama’s inherent power.
Only that in this lifetime, it would be difficult for him to advance further and step into that realm no one had yet reached.
But Yama understood this well.
After all, he had learned from Juechen’s memories about the situation Little Thunderclap Temple was facing.
It could be said that if he didn’t awaken this time,
the destruction of Little Thunderclap Temple would merely be a matter of time.
“Sigh…”
Yama sighed, then closed his eyes.
The next moment, his opened Heavenly Eye erupted with terrifying Buddha light.
This Buddha light directly shattered Wushu Bodhisattva’s Karma fire Black Lotus and dispersed the dark clouds above Little Thunderclap Temple,
allowing the previously blocked sunlight to shine upon the land of Little Thunderclap Temple.
Yet this scorching Buddha light brought no warmth to Wushu Bodhisattva;
instead, it made him scream in agony.
Wherever the golden Buddha light touched Wushu Bodhisattva’s body,
it visibly melted away at a rapid pace,
revealing horrifying white bones beneath.
First the palms, then the arms, followed by the shoulders, and eventually the entire body.
Under the illumination of Yama’s Buddha light, Wushu Bodhisattva’s Buddha body quickly turned into a pile of bones.
Then, under the disbelieving eyes of numerous Black Lotus Cultists,
Wushu Bodhisattva’s Buddha body disintegrated on the spot, revealing his manifested form within.
At this point, the outcome was undeniable.
Almost the instant his Buddha body was destroyed, Wushu Bodhisattva flew toward a certain direction,
clearly intending to escape temporarily.
Simultaneously, a massive Black Lotus Realm gate suddenly appeared in the sky.
The Karma emanating from within the Black Lotus Realm gate was boundless,
making even Yama frown slightly.
For from that realm gate, Yama seemed to hear the wails of billions of living beings.
He dared not imagine how many must have died to accumulate such terrifying Karma.
More crucially, Yama sensed a threat from within the realm gate,
as if some existence was watching him through it.
With this thought, Yama immediately reached out his hand.
The next moment, just as Wushu Bodhisattva was about to rush into the realm gate and escape back to the Nine Realms,
despair washed over his face.
A gigantic palm had already enveloped his surroundings, leaving no room for evasion.
Boom!
Wushu Bodhisattva was struck by the enormous Buddha palm and slammed into the ground.
When the Buddha palm vanished, a black Sharira remained in the massive crater.
Yama gazed at the black Sharira,
pondered for a moment, then directly illuminated it with his own Buddha light.
Sizzle!
Sounds like frying immediately emerged from the black Sharira.
Before long, the black Sharira slowly melted away, completely vanishing from everyone’s sight.
Then Yama turned his gaze toward the remaining Black Lotus Sect members in the distance.
That single glance filled the surviving Black Lotus Cultists with terror.
Before they could react, they found their bodies enveloped by a golden Buddha light.
If even Wushu Bodhisattva couldn’t withstand Yama, they stood no chance.
Soon, the entire Little Thunderclap Temple, and even the Western Divine Province, were cleansed.
After accomplishing all this, Yama directly looked toward the slowly closing realm gate not far away.Bang!
Just as the dimensional portal was about to close completely.
A golden Buddhist palm thrust directly into the narrowing gap, blocking it shut.
Perhaps the Buddhist radiance emanating from that palm was too overbearing.
Or perhaps this Buddhist light was inherently incompatible with the portal’s energy.
For when the Buddhist palm gripped the portal’s edges,
the gateway actually emitted a human-like scream of agony.
The myriad faces carved upon the portal’s surface contorted into grotesque expressions, appearing intensely hostile toward the owner of this golden Buddhist hand.
“Amitabha. The Buddha said: ‘If I don’t enter hell, who will?'”
“Today, this humble monk shall personally make the journey.”
As these words echoed, Yama single-handedly forced open the portal that should have sealed shut.
Transforming into a golden beam, he surged through the dimensional gateway.
Upon crossing the threshold, what greeted his eyes was a mountainous landscape seemingly no different from Central Province.
Yet this was merely surface appearance.
Through Yama’s Heavenly Eye, this world revealed itself as thoroughly distorted and diseased.
The Heavenly Dao that should maintain cosmic order – impersonal and formless –
had here become somewhat anthropomorphized.
Yama gazed upward to see countless grotesque monsters materializing across the sky.
Observing these creatures, Yama immediately pressed his palms together in prayer.
In the next instant, the cultivation base that had been suppressed by the Azure Cloud World’s Heavenly Dao power was fully unleashed.
Yama’s cultivation soared, rapidly restoring to his original True Buddha level.
Soon, Yama manifested as a Living True Buddha, engaging in combat with the ancient Immortal Fiends of the Black Lotus Realm.
Moreover, distant hordes of additional Immortal Fiends seemed to receive some summons, beginning to converge upon their location – their numbers swelling to nearly a million.
Though they possessed numerical superiority,
before Yama’s formidable True Buddha-level Buddhist power,
ordinary ancient Immortal Fiends differed little from cultivation-less Mortals.
Each wave of Buddhist radiance purified them instantly under Yama’s spiritual guidance.
Yet this ease brought Yama no comfort – instead, his expression grew solemn.
For he could sense a formidable presence, rivaling True Buddha level, awakening in the distance.
Reaching this realization, Yama suddenly understood the situation had grown more complex.
Originally, he had planned to rely on his True Buddha cultivation to directly purify these Sky Demons and resolve this turmoil completely.
But now it appeared… this disturbance ran far deeper than he had anticipated.
Though somewhat troublesome, Yama maintained absolute confidence in his capabilities.
Therefore, even within another’s world, even while sensing an equal-level presence emerging,
Yama showed no intention of retreat.
This was the absolute self-assurance earned through endless eons.
True Buddhas cannot be killed.
As the saying goes: “While the Great Dao endures, the True Spirit remains undying.”
Unless some method existed to directly erase the Heavenly Dao itself,
those True Immortals and True Buddhas who had completely fused with the Heavenly Dao
could resurrect repeatedly through heaven and earth.
Though whether they could awaken memories of past lives after rebirth remained uncertain.
And in this world, did any means exist to directly annihilate the Great Dao?
At the very least, Yama had never encountered such.
Even beings at the True Immortal or True Buddha level couldn’t accomplish this.
For this would be equivalent to erasing fundamental forces like “gravity” or “friction” –
a nearly impossible feat.It is precisely because of this characteristic that once one’s cultivation reaches the level of True Immortal or True Buddha,
they become truly coeval with heaven and earth.
As long as heaven and earth endure, the True Spirit remains undying.
This is the power of True Immortals and True Buddhas.
It is also the fundamental reason why they bear the prefix ‘True’.
