Chapter 105
Chapter 105
The impact of the Second Shock on South Korea was terrifying beyond words.
Having barely endured the First Shock, South Korea now suffered damage incomparable to the first.
Broadcast towers and base stations, which had largely survived the First Shock unscathed, were completely destroyed, and a significant portion of the internet network was lost.
In just two shocks, South Korea had regressed to the state it was in after the Korean War in the 1950s. Cell phones were dead, TV news was off-air, electricity was cut in many areas, and countless water pipes had burst.
However, there was an even more critical difference compared to the post-Korean War era.
Back then, it was a generation that had at least experienced a life of scarcity, based on agriculture, but now, it was completely different.
This generation always had cell phones in their hands, found countless restaurants and coffee shops right outside their homes, and viewed TV and the internet as an integral part of their daily lives.
At this moment, with the countless benefits they had enjoyed suddenly vanished, their shock was undoubtedly far more severe than that experienced immediately after the Korean War.
Even basic necessities like drinking water and restrooms were affected.
With most infrastructure now destroyed, drinking water was contaminated, and restrooms began to become filthy and malodorous. The shock experienced by people accustomed to clean drinking water and sanitary facilities was beyond imagination.
What tormented them even more was the uncertainty of how long this situation would last.
Terrifying monsters still roamed outside, and those who had barely survived until now had to hide deeper to stay alive.
In this horrific situation, they desperately yearned for government intervention.
However, there was a critical problem they were unaware of.
“Hold them back, hold them back!”
“Kwaaak!”
“Kueeek!”
Crash! Bang!
The Blue House.
The very heart of South Korean power, the central hub of all administration, was now in grave peril.
A dire situation had unfolded: the President, head of the government, was trapped inside the Blue House and unable to escape.
Immediately after the Second Shock, powerful AA-grade monsters unexpectedly assaulted the Blue House, before the President could even attempt an escape.
A special security team from the National Disaster Response Headquarters, urgently deployed to the Blue House, made their utmost efforts to help the President escape, but their endeavors soon crumbled futilely.
The special security team, composed of Hunters of A-grade or higher, was utterly overwhelmed by the ceaseless onslaught of monsters, and the main security teams, armed with conventional weapons, were instantly slaughtered.
The President tried to hastily evacuate to an underground bunker, but the path to it was fraught with extreme danger.
“- VIP, please protect the VIP! Kwaaak!”
As the final radio transmission from the special security team, who had guarded him to the very end, spread, the President’s fate became even more uncertain.
Now, several hours after the Second Shock, South Korea was effectively in a state of anarchy.
With the President, who should have been mobilizing military units and exercising full authority of the National Disaster Response Headquarters for swift recovery, having disappeared, all governmental functions were completely paralyzed.
Yet, the Prime Minister could not assume acting authority as long as the President’s death was unconfirmed.
Boom!
Cr-cr-crash!
Twenty K-2 Black Panther Tanks, dispatched from the Capital Defense Mechanized Division urgently organized in the Seoul suburbs after the last Mega Shock, fired their cannons at the monsters completely surrounding the Blue House, but the sheer number of enemies showed no sign of diminishing.

Cobra (AH-1S) helicopters hovered in the air, unleashing 20mm Vulcan cannons upon the ground, but even that proved insufficient.
Watching the scene, Prime Minister Lee Hyun-dong could only clench his fists and fret helplessly. Key figures such as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Army Chief of Staff, and the Head of the National Disaster Response Headquarters had vanished along with the President, leaving the military without a properly structured command to efficiently lead its forces, yet the presidential rescue operation had to begin.
Troops from the Republic of Korea Special Warfare Command arrived, but it was uncertain how much help they could be against monsters, not humans.
First, they needed to clear out the swarming monsters around the Blue House to gain entry, but that was proving difficult…
“Contact the major guilds and mobilize all available forces! Quickly!”
Lee Hyun-dong was well aware that even in Seoul alone, numerous areas were still experiencing ongoing monster massacres.
But to rectify all this chaos, the President had to be rescued first.
Even just confirming whether he was alive or dead would allow subsequent actions to proceed immediately.
However, frustratingly, the available forces to save him were woefully insufficient, and the newly established Capital Defense Mechanized Division had already dispatched defensive troops across Seoul to protect citizens.
It was too late to recall those troops now.
Therefore, their only recourse now was the major guilds. No, not just them, but contact had to be made with every available guild to rescue the President.
At Prime Minister Lee Hyun-dong’s command, all communication lines blazed to life.
Fortunately, many underground communication lines were still operational, allowing connections to be made with various major guilds.
The problem, however, was that they too were in difficult situations, unable to easily disengage.
Only the number one guild, Immortal, and the second and third, Hwarang and Taebaek, had confirmed they would dispatch forces immediately. The remaining guilds were either completely unreachable or simply replied that they were unable to assist.
If even the most renowned major guilds were in such a state, there was no need to mention the smaller ones.
Just as Prime Minister Lee Hyun-dong’s complexion darkened rapidly, a communications officer’s face lit up, and he looked at the Prime Minister, speaking loudly.
“Prime Minister! The Phoenix Guild says they are dispatching relief forces now! Estimated arrival time is within fifteen minutes! It seems their relief forces will arrive around the same time as the Immortal Guild’s!”
At those words, Lee Hyun-dong, desperate for even a single troop, briefly brightened before his face quickly clouded over again.
The fastest they could reach the Blue House was within fifteen minutes.
In a situation where every second counted, that was too long.
But Lee Hyun-dong nodded.
“Tell them to come quickly!”
“Yes, sir!”
Four of the top ten domestic guilds based in Seoul reported that they would send relief forces.
Fortunately, this included the number one guild, Immortal, and the second and third, Hwarang and Taebaek, which was very hopeful. The tenth-ranked Phoenix Guild was also among them, but frankly, with Immortal, Hwarang, and Taebaek arriving, their contribution wasn’t expected to be very significant.
Still, it was better than nothing, so a tense VIP rescue operation was planned, incorporating their forces.
And time passed.
* * * * *
“This is Park Jong-han, Captain of the Immortal’s Eternity Attack Unit.”
First to arrive was the Immortal Guild’s legendary attack unit, the Eternity Attack Unit, led by Captain Park Jong-han. Eternity had brought several other attack units with them, all of whom looked incredibly strong and reassuring.
But the name Eternity alone was enough for most onlookers to breathe sighs of relief. The reputation as the nation’s strongest attack unit was not earned for nothing.
Hundreds of successful raids, with not a single casualty—they were universally recognized as the nation’s premier attack unit.
With them here, the VIP’s rescue was as good as done.
Moreover, they hadn’t come alone; four other attack units bearing the Immortal name had also arrived, making them ready for immediate deployment. The other attack units, though overshadowed by Eternity’s fame, possessed enough combat power to lead as the first attack unit in any other guild.
Indeed, the reputation as the nation’s number one guild was not simply given.
Prime Minister Lee Hyun-dong looked at Park Jong-han, nodded firmly, and extended his hand.
“Captain Park Jong-han, please rescue the VIP at once! The entire fate of this nation depends on it!”
The sturdy-looking Park Jong-han clasped his hand.
“Understood. Once you provide the data, we will deploy immediately.”
“Aide!”
“Yes, sir! It’s ready here!”
The VIP Rescue Operation Command hadn’t been idle either.
In the meantime, they had utilized all their latest equipment to ascertain the number and types of monsters, even predicting the optimal infiltration route.
Park Jong-han nodded as he reviewed the data.
It was indeed a substantial level of analytical data, and it seemed it would be of great assistance.
“Then, we shall depart.”
At Park Jong-han’s words, Prime Minister Lee Hyun-dong patted his shoulder.
“Please, bring us good results!”
Instead of answering, Park Jong-han offered a faint smile and turned around.
His eyes were fixed on the Eternity attack unit members standing behind him.
“Let’s go.”
Few words were needed.
Wherever their captain went, the banner of Eternity would follow.
That was their ironclad rule.
Even before the enormous wave of countless monsters unfolding before their eyes, they didn’t bat an eyelid.
But at that moment, another attack unit brushed past them.
Simultaneously, Park Jong-han’s eyes widened.
‘…!’
He watched the man walking at the very front of that attack unit.
The man also glanced his way, gave a smirk, and then turned his head.
Park Jong-han frowned.
‘That man…!’
“Captain, is that someone you know?”
Just then, someone asked him.
Park Jong-han shook his head and said.
“No. Let’s go. Every moment counts.”
With that, he lunged forward.
The Eternity Attack Unit and the units following behind them moved swiftly.
Fluid and precise movements, truly befitting Eternity!
And the next moment, a primal, destructive display followed, breathtaking to behold.
As soon as they plunged into the wave of monsters, they began to push back the colossal tide.
‘Immortal, huh…’
A man watched them, a faint smile playing on his lips.
And someone else, looking at him, flatly remarked.
“Captain, you’re distracted.”
“Quiet, Kim Do-jin.”
Kang Yuseong scowled at Kim Do-jin once, then walked toward the headquarters visible straight ahead.
Seeing him, an aide inquired.
“Your affiliation, perhaps…?”
Kang Yuseong replied with a faint smile.
“We are the Stardust Attack Unit, affiliated with the Phoenix Guild.”
Kang Yuseong didn’t miss the aide’s momentary expression of disappointment at his words.
He probably expected the Phoenix Attack Unit to arrive and seemed disappointed that an unknown unit had shown up instead.
“Stardust… Yes, please go inside. The Prime Minister is waiting for you.”
But at that moment, Kang Yuseong shook his head.
“No. We’re going straight to the field.”
Kang Yuseong smirked at the flustered aide.
“Because every second counts right now.”
And without the slightest hesitation, he turned around.
“Attack unit.”
The smile had vanished from his lips as he looked at his unit members.
“Everyone, deploy!”
At that single command, a look of grim determination appeared on the faces of all the unit members.
*Whoosh—*
And Kang Yuseong dashed like the wind.
*Boom—*
A massive explosion erupted, scattering monster remains in all directions.
It heralded the magnificent ascent of Stardust.
“Kwaaaah!”
“Waaaah!”
The beginning of a legend, forged by men who were anything but ordinary.
