Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Clang!
Violent sparks flew, piercing through the blizzard.
And crimson blood spurted into the air.
A formidable attack that was blocked, yet not truly blocked!
Kang Yuseong’s sword had split open a soldier’s chest.
That attack, enhanced by Chakra, Critical Strike, was so powerful that blocking it was more detrimental.
Swoosh—
Before the soldier could even fall, Kang Yuseong was already lunging at the next one.
Swish—
The twin blades in his hands danced wildly.
Clang!
One moment, they were cleaving down from above,
Slash!
the next, blades surged fiercely from below, scattering flesh and blood without restraint.
The soldiers charged with daggers, but the outcome remained unchanged.
The being they faced was a demon once mad for the sword. His ferocity was no different now.
The moment a dozen or so soldiers charged, gripping their daggers, Kang Yuseong’s eyes blazed.
There was a reason he had become a demon mad for the sword.
No matter how consumed by madness, no matter how fiercely he exuded venom, without foundational skills, it would be nothing more than reckless bravado.
But Kang Yuseong possessed the ability to transform that into reality, not mere bravado.
Kinetic vision.
Even before awakening as a Hunter, he possessed exceptional kinetic vision, along with the corresponding reflexes.
Clang—
Kang Yuseong parried a soldier’s dagger striking from the side with one sword, then spun on the spot, unleashing the sword in his other hand.
This was Chakra, Two-Headed Snake’s Dance!
Though originally a skill of the squad leader, in Kang Yuseong’s hands, the Two-Headed Snake’s Dance became even more dazzling and brutal.
The Two-Headed Snake’s Dance, unfolding without a single opening, showed no signs of faltering even amidst the soldiers charging with daggers that gleamed with a chilling blue light.
No, the sharp, unbridled aura emanating from within their ranks was terrifying.
Slash—
“Ugh!”
A soldier, exposed to the aura extending from the Two-Headed Snake’s Dance, let out a dying cry.
A crimson line of blood had already appeared across his chest.
Clang!
Kang Yuseong paid no mind whether the man fell or not.
His focus was on one thing alone.
Whirl!
To kill one more enemy.
The chilling blue madness radiating from his eyes deepened, and the soldiers, caught in instinctive terror, began to falter and retreat.
They, too, were known as devils in North Korea, but the man before them was a mad demon, far surpassing them.
“What are you waiting for! All of you, attack!”
There was no time to think of pride or anything else now.
This was a desperate situation where a moment’s hesitation could send them to the underworld.
The squad leader gritted his teeth furiously and roared.
The soldiers, trained through brutal drills to become elite assassins, formed a line and approached Kang Yuseong.
“Come on!”
But Kang Yuseong, instead, flashed an even darker smile and shouted loudly.
“Ugh…!”
This was absurd.
By numbers, by circumstances, this should never be happening.
The enemy was alone, without any support.
Yet, they, dozens of times his number, were being pushed back.
In spirit, in fighting will…
And in skill.
‘You… son of a bitch! I’ll rip you to shreds!’
The squad leader clenched his jaw so hard it felt like his teeth would shatter.
The thought that the intelligence unit’s information was wrong crossed his mind, but he couldn’t blame them now.
He didn’t know why this man was here now, appearing like a daylight demon, and the man’s immense power was beyond words, but the most crucial thing was to eliminate him.
He sent the soldiers forward, then broke off a thick branch nearby and fashioned a splint.
Then, pulling out a spare piece of clothing, he tightly bound it to his arm, gripping his two swords firmly.
He watched as the soldiers skillfully rushed towards the man.
The squad leader also pushed off the ground.
Swish-swish-swish!
Amidst the chilling blue aura, the squad leader ran, keeping his body low.
“Ugh!”
“Gah!”
In that instant, soldiers were pierced by the aura and died one after another, but he didn’t stop.
If he stopped now to think of them, everything would be over.
Thwack—
Using the soldiers as a shield, the squad leader instantly closed in on Kang Yuseong and leaped into the air.
The two swords in his hands flashed.
“Haaat!”
He brought both swords down.
An immense pain shot through his previously fractured forearm, but he had activated Chakra, Regeneration’s Power, forcibly mending the twisted muscles and veins, allowing him to grip the swords without issue.
Kang Yuseong saw him descending from the air and pulled back his sword.
He had sensed the immense power of the attack.
Thud—
And his body lightly retreated.
A movement so smooth and natural, as if he had anticipated such an attack.
The squad leader gritted his teeth.
But this wasn’t the end for him either.
Clink—
He pulled a chain from his waist, connected it to the pommels of his two daggers, and thrust them down towards Kang Yuseong.
Swish-swish!
It was a remarkably unorthodox attack.
Kang Yuseong struck it with his sword.
No, he *tried* to strike it.
Swish!
At that moment, as if the dagger had eyes, its trajectory sharply curved, swirling around Kang Yuseong’s sword.
Clang-clang!
In an instant, the chain wrapped noisily around Kang Yuseong’s longsword.
A triumphant smile played on the squad leader’s lips.
He didn’t know how this man had used his skill, but this, at least, he wouldn’t be able to imitate.
This was a secret technique he had gained after brutal training, crossing the threshold of life and death.
Chakra, Twin Fangs of the Jet-Black Serpent.
Having sealed Kang Yuseong’s sword with one chain, the squad leader threw another dagger.
Whoosh!
The dagger sliced through the air with an eerie sound.
The squad leader’s eyes widened.
Now, no matter what choice Kang Yuseong made, he would die.
If he blocked with his sword, both his swords would be completely sealed; if he dodged, he would face an even greater peril.
That was precisely the terrifying aspect of Chakra, Twin Fangs of the Jet-Black Serpent.
A formidable dagger technique that could relentlessly pursue an opponent until death.
Because it was connected by a chain, it could also impose psychological pressure on the opponent, who wouldn’t know where or how it would strike next.
Swish!
The dagger flew towards Kang Yuseong.
And Kang Yuseong…
Clink!
raised his sword to block it.
‘Got him!’
The squad leader wore a triumphant smile.
Now, all that remained was to finish him off.
Swish!
The chain roughly wrapped around Kang Yuseong’s sword once more.
And the dagger, bound to the end of the chain, sprang up as if alive.
The chain completely bound and sealed Kang Yuseong’s sword, while the dagger, on its own, flew straight towards him.
Drop the sword, and he dies. Don’t drop it, and he dies.
The squad leader clenched his fist tightly.
And the soldiers, sensing the situation, charged from all directions for a perfect finish.
But then, in an instant, the squad leader’s eyes widened.
‘….What?’
Kang Yuseong, without a shred of hesitation, simply let go of both his swords.
With so many enemies charging, he had rendered himself unarmed.
It was an act of suicide.
He had seen earlier that the man’s physical combat and martial arts skills were considerable, but not enough to escape this situation.
But the squad leader was in for an even greater shock.
The man was utterly calm.
As if this situation had nothing to do with him, he calmly disengaged, and to the squad leader’s surprise, he began to sprint towards the squad leader himself.
‘Huh!’
Swish!
The squad leader hastily retracted his dagger.
And he sharpened his focus.
This was a golden opportunity.
He didn’t know why the man was charging him, but there was certainly no path to survival on this side.
Clink!
The familiar feel of the dagger returned to his hand.
He raised the dagger and brought it straight down.
In an instant, Kang Yuseong’s body moved like a phantom.
Whoosh—
He subtly shifted out of the dagger’s trajectory, deflecting the attack, then extended one hand and clamped it tightly around the squad leader’s neck.
‘Guh!’
With that powerful grip, the squad leader was instantly pulled towards him.
But he was no pushover either.
The moment his neck was seized, he plunged the dagger in his other hand down into Kang Yuseong’s shoulder.
But the next moment, something astonishing happened.
Whoosh!
A massive fireball was hurtling towards his face.
‘Im… impossible!’
The squad leader wore a blank expression.
This man was clearly a Chakra User.
But this…
Simultaneously, as his dagger plunged into Kang Yuseong’s shoulder, a powerful fireball exploded against his head.
Boom!
Whoosh-whoosh-whoosh!
A powerful explosion erupted, sending piles of snow wildly surging up and scattering in all directions.
Boom—
With that single strike, the squad leader’s body was sent flying backward, slamming directly into a sturdy tree.
Crack!
Such was the force that the tree couldn’t withstand the impact and split apart.
“Squad leader, comrade!”
The soldiers looked at him with shocked faces.
But his face was already charred black, and flesh from his head to his chest appeared melted.
He had died instantly from a single blow.
Whoosh—
The blizzard that had engulfed the surroundings swept past, revealing Kang Yuseong, clutching one shoulder.
Blood was flowing from his shoulder.
It was by no means a light wound.
Yet, he stared at the soldiers as if nothing had happened.
In his hand was the dagger dropped by the soldier who had just died.
“Ugh…”
At that sight, the soldiers gritted their teeth.
Only then did they realize what kind of being they were facing.
Not a human.
That man was…
‘A demon… a demon!’
They had never imagined that dozens of special forces soldiers couldn’t defeat this one man.
But now, that thought had completely changed.
Let alone defeating him, it was uncertain if they could even survive against him.
Kang Yuseong bared his white teeth and smiled.
“Well, shall we finish this?”
He uttered those words, though it was unclear whose ‘finish’ he meant.
The soldiers’ expressions twisted instantly.
A monster even their squad leader couldn’t defeat.
“You… son of a bitch…”
Then someone spat out roughly.
“What are you waiting for! It’s just one man!”
Grind—
The soldiers gritted their teeth.
Thump—
They surged through the snowfield, leaping into the air.
In that instant, Kang Yuseong moved too.
Clang—
Sword against sword, strength against strength, madness against madness clashed, painting the surroundings with fiery intensity.
Shing—
Kang Yuseong’s sword deflected a soldier’s blade, then plunged straight into his neck.
“Gurgle!”
Gush!
Warm blood spurted, and he collapsed forward, still in his charging stance.
Kang Yuseong immediately spun around, stabbing his sword into another soldier’s side.
The blade smoothly pierced between his ribs, directly impaling his liver and pancreas.
“Cough!”
Kicking the man, who was spewing blood from his mouth, to the ground, Kang Yuseong subtly shifted his foot.
Whoosh—
A dagger, with fierce momentum, slashed at the spot where he had just been.
Thump—
The soldier who had thrown the dagger felt someone forcefully pull his head back.
And the next moment, a terrible pain assailed him.
Crunch!
A cold blade had sliced straight across his neck.
He thrashed wildly, clutching his throat, but no one spared him a glance.
“Haaat!”
Several soldiers leaped from behind Kang Yuseong.
And with that momentum, they brought their swords down on Kang Yuseong’s back.
Suddenly, a scorching heat engulfed them.
Boom!
Without even a chance to scream, they were violently thrown backward by a powerful impact in mid-air.
Fireball.
That hot, demonic breath had incinerated them.
Kang Yuseong grinned.
“Come all at once.”
The expressions of the remaining soldiers twisted.
“Kuaaa!”
They charged at Kang Yuseong, screaming wildly.
And then…
The Bloody Sunday began.
