Chapter 88
Chapter 88
Upon reaching Gil Ji-yeon’s hospital room, her attending physician and several nurses were already gathered there.
Today was the critical day for Gil Ji-yeon, as she was expected to suffer severe after-effects.
And indeed, those symptoms were now manifesting.
The attending physician saw Gil Hyeok-jun, let out a long sigh, and spoke.
“What took you so long to arrive? We almost had a major incident.”
Gil Hyeok-jun nodded and asked in a low voice.
“How is Ji-yeon?”
The attending physician pushed up his glasses, looked towards Gil Ji-yeon, and said.
“It seems tonight will be the critical point. All her vitals are poor. *Sigh*, we are doing our best, but…”
“I understand. Thank you for your efforts. I will watch over her.”
At Gil Hyeok-jun’s words, the attending physician nodded.
“She might have another seizure late tonight. Be sure to call the nurses then.”
“Yes, I understand.”
The attending physician left the room with the nurses.
Gil Hyeok-jun sat silently, gazing at Gil Ji-yeon’s pale face.
She was a remarkably beautiful woman with delicate features, but her lips were dry and cracked, and her haggard appearance was truly pitiful.
“Hoo…”
Gil Hyeok-jun quietly watched his daughter, then let out a sigh.
Modern medicine had reached its limits here.
Even if Gil Ji-yeon had another seizure, there would likely be nothing the attending physician could do.
“Here it is.”
Kang Yuseong offered him the potion.
Gil Hyeok-jun silently accepted the potion.
“I’ll wait outside.”
At Kang Yuseong’s words, Gil Hyeok-jun shook his head.
“No, I’d prefer you stay here.”
Gil Hyeok-jun turned to Kang Yuseong and smiled weakly.
“I’m a bit too nervous, you see.”
Kang Yuseong looked back at him.
Indeed, Gil Hyeok-jun’s eyes were visibly trembling.
This powerful man was trembling.
In front of his own daughter.
Kang Yuseong nodded.
“Understood.”
“Thank you.”
Gil Hyeok-jun offered a faint smile, then looked down at Gil Ji-yeon’s face again.
She must have suffered terribly during the seizure, as beads of sweat still clung to her forehead.
Gil Hyeok-jun gently wiped Gil Ji-yeon’s forehead with a handkerchief.
Then he opened the potion’s cap.
*Click.*
The liquid in the small bottle swished.
Gil Hyeok-jun stared at it for a moment, then brought the potion bottle to his daughter’s lips.
Supporting her head and feeding her the potion, just like a father feeding his baby formula, he was every inch a devoted father.
After letting the last drop of the potion flow into Gil Ji-yeon’s mouth, Gil Hyeok-jun gently laid her back on the bed and watched her with anxious eyes.
Kang Yuseong also watched silently from behind.
*That medicine.*
It was considered the most potent healing agent, with Gainok’s bodily fluids as its primary ingredient.
If one were to name the best outcome of the Mega Shock descending upon Earth, it would undoubtedly be the dazzling advancement in the medical field.
As methods for processing monster by-products and various medicinal herbs and plants found only within dungeons became known, countless incurable diseases were cured.
Cancer, lupus, and even nearly incurable diseases like Alzheimer’s…
These were the gifts the Mega Shock had brought to Earth.
And now, one of those gifts was about to reveal itself.
*Whoosh!*
A short while after the potion passed Gil Ji-yeon’s throat, a faint, hazy light suddenly began to emanate from her entire body.
“…!”
Gil Hyeok-jun’s expression stiffened in surprise.
At that moment, the light suddenly coalesced and enveloped Gil Ji-yeon’s entire body.
Then, remarkably, in that light which even made onlookers feel warm, color slowly began to return to Gil Ji-yeon’s face.
“Ji… Ji-yeon!”
Gil Hyeok-jun called out to Gil Ji-yeon with a trembling voice.
*Flash!*
And then, an inexplicable, strange energy surged from Gil Ji-yeon’s entire body.
Gil Hyeok-jun knew very well what it was.
Chakra Force.
Gil Ji-yeon was currently awakening her Chakra Force.
“This… could it be!”
Gil Hyeok-jun turned back with a surprised expression, and Kang Yuseong nodded with a smile.
Kys-I.
One of this potion’s most significant features was its ability to turn the user into a Chakra Force Awakener. In a way, it might have been this unique physical transformation that cured incurable diseases.
Yet, strangely, no other Chakra Force awakening agent had this effect.
Only Kys-I could.
*Blaze!*
“Ugh!”
As a blinding light filled the hospital room, Gil Ji-yeon grimaced and opened her eyes with a strained expression.
She spotted Gil Hyeok-jun and called out to him in a small voice.
“Dad…”
“Th-that’s right! It’s Dad! Dad’s here, Ji-yeon!”
Gil Hyeok-jun looked at Gil Ji-yeon, completely at a loss. He fidgeted, as if daring neither to touch her nor to simply leave her alone.
“Dad… I don’t feel any pain, strangely. Not my head… not my chest…”
“Yes! Yes, Ji-yeon! No pain? You’re truly not in pain? Huh?”
Gil Hyeok-jun’s hands trembled as he caressed Gil Ji-yeon’s arms and legs.
Then he bit his lip tightly.
“My goodness! This is truly…!”
Gil Ji-yeon’s hands and feet, which had always been cold due to poor circulation, were now emanating warmth like those of a healthy person. The attending physician hadn’t been able to pinpoint the exact cause of Gil Ji-yeon’s illness but had suspected poor blood circulation was a major factor, and now that symptom was gone.
*Creak!*
Just then, the hospital room door suddenly opened, and a group of people rushed in.
“Sir, what’s going on!”
It was the attending physician.
As soon as he entered, he was utterly astonished to see Gil Ji-yeon sitting up.
And his expression grew even more shocked when he saw the vital signs on the monitor.
“No, what in the…! Mr. Kim, check the machine!”
The vital signs were clearly indicating normal.
“Yes, Chief!”
The head nurse immediately went to check the machine, but there was nothing wrong with it.
“I’ll try a different machine.”
The head nurse, with an equally bewildered expression, brought another machine and connected it.
But the result was the same.
Perfectly normal.
The attending physician frowned, then rushed over and palpated various parts of Gil Ji-yeon’s body.
And his expression grew increasingly rigid with each passing moment.
“Im… impossible!”
Normal.
Palpation was normal, the machine’s vital signs were normal.
What in the world was happening?
How could someone who was on the verge of death just moments ago be like this?
“Quickly, prepare for tests! All possible tests!”
A situation that modern medicine simply could not explain had unfolded.
From the attending physician’s perspective, he felt something was wrong and took swift action.
But then, someone stepped forward and spoke.
“There’s no need for that. Patient Gil Ji-yeon is perfectly normal.”
The attending physician frowned and looked at the man.
A tall, slender man stood there.
“Wh-what did you say?”
“If you don’t believe me, you can conduct tests, but it won’t be necessary. She’s already fully recovered.”
“That’s absurd! This patient was nearly dead from seizures just moments ago!”
“So you think that machine is lying? And your own fingers, too?”
At those words, the attending physician’s expression twisted.
The man was right.
The machine wasn’t broken, and his fingers were perfectly fine.
But…
He wanted to perform complex tests like CT scans and MRIs precisely because he couldn’t believe it.
Because this was a situation that modern medicine could absolutely not explain.
“It seems you don’t believe me. Then, would you care to see this?”
Kang Yuseong pulled out a business card from his pocket and offered it.
It was a business card with the title of CEO of Star Pharmaceuticals.
The attending physician took it and looked at Kang Yuseong with a surprised expression.
“Y-you’re the one who, who created that Stamina Potion…!”
Kang Yuseong smiled at him.
“That’s right. I am Kang Yuseong, CEO of Star Pharmaceuticals.”
Everyone present was stunned.
The development of the Stamina Potion was considered a revolution in both the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
A miraculous potion that could allow someone to easily recover from any state of exhaustion with just one bottle.
Moreover, elderly patients who drank a bottle of Stamina Potion before surgery could endure it with stamina comparable to that of a young adult in their twenties, which was causing such a tremendous impact that the medical community was calling it nothing short of a miracle.
Kang Yuseong hadn’t realized how much power that single business card he handed over held.
But when people were so utterly astonished, he decided to seize the opportunity and make use of it.
After all, there was no need to waste time on unnecessary tests.
“Actually, this is top-secret, but recently, our company embarked on research into incurable diseases. Our clinical model is none other than Miss Gil Ji-yeon here. We’ve been meticulously observing her condition and, based on that, have developed numerous new drugs.”
The attending physician stared intently at him, focusing on his story.
“And today, that new drug was completed and administered. I apologize for administering it without prior agreement with the attending physician. However, we were confident that this medicine would be effective for Miss Gil Ji-yeon’s condition, and as you can see, it has proven to be so.”
“Hmm…!”
The attending physician let out a murmur.
Kang Yuseong gave a slight bow to him, then raised his head again.
“Thank you for taking care of Miss Gil Ji-yeon up until now. However, from now on, I would like for my Star Pharmaceuticals to take over her care. What do you think?”
The attending physician’s expression hardened.
In truth, this was quite an affront to him.
However, a scene that even he found astonishing had just unfolded before his eyes, and judging by all the evidence, Gil Ji-yeon’s recovery was nothing short of a miracle.
And the presence of the man before him was so immense that it overwhelmed him.
In South Korea, no, even worldwide, how many people didn’t know the reputation of Star Pharmaceuticals? This formidable man was making a request himself.
The attending physician subtly glanced towards Gil Hyeok-jun.
Gil Hyeok-jun also nodded.
“As her guardian, I wish to process my daughter’s discharge.”
“Hmm…”
The attending physician felt the tension drain from him.
With the guardian’s consent, there was nothing he could do.
If the patient’s condition were poor, it would be different, but it was clear at a glance that she had fully recovered, leaving him with no grounds to object.
Furthermore, Star Pharmaceuticals was a place that had invested in state-of-the-art facilities, drawing envy from others.
Regardless of anything, receiving care there would be much better for the patient.
“Hoo… Well, there’s nothing for it, I suppose. Very well. I will arrange for her discharge.”
“Thank you.”
The nurses removed the devices attached to Gil Ji-yeon’s body.
They then looked at Kang Yuseong with expressions of wonder before exiting the room.
The attending physician also looked at Gil Ji-yeon for a moment before following them out.
Kang Yuseong smiled and said.
“It’s all settled, then.”
Gil Hyeok-jun also let out a long sigh and nodded.
“It seems so. But… is Ji-yeon truly better?”
“We can provide the answer to that when we get to Star Pharmaceuticals.”
Gil Hyeok-jun nodded silently.
Kang Yuseong had kept his word.
For now, Gil Ji-yeon had shown signs of recovery after taking the medicine he made, and even the attending physician had acknowledged it.
“I understand.”
Kang Yuseong smiled.
“Shall we go, then?”
At Kang Yuseong’s words, Gil Hyeok-jun offered a hearty smile.
“Let’s.”
