Chapter 11 – Upgrading Privileges
Chapter 11 – Upgrading Privileges
Xiao Wuwang was naturally unaware of the commotion outside. Seeing the chat messages rapidly increasing, he knew many people in the group were likely @-ing him.
Without even guessing, he knew those in the group wouldn’t have anything good to say, and he wouldn’t waste his precious time on such meaningless matters.
Right now, he was happily digesting the various benefits brought by the level-up.
First, two additional carriages had been added, which were system rewards that could be activated directly, saving him a lot of materials.
Unfortunately, the two new carriages were still at Level 0 and would need to be upgraded before they could gain expansion slots and have expansion cards installed.
However, carriages were not the locomotive—they weren’t rule items. For upgrades, he could use 100 units of wood or upgrade them directly using his talent.
Xiao Wuwang currently had no extra wood, and his fatigue points weren’t high either, so upgrading the carriages was temporarily out of the question.
The unupgraded carriages had a space of 4×8 meters, which was quite sizable and could serve as temporary storage.
However, Level 0 carriages, like the previous Level 0 locomotive, were shabby and drafty, with nothing particularly appealing. Xiao Wuwang immediately shifted his focus to the locomotive.
The Level 1 locomotive, though still primarily wooden in appearance, looked much more intact.
The interior space had also increased slightly, from 2×2 meters to 2×3 meters.
Xiao Wuwang pulled up the train panel:
Train Conductor: [Wuwang Kuangzun]
Level: 1 (Upgrade Requirements: Wood500, Iron100, Train Upgrade Shard*10), Current Level Privileges (Expandable)
Speed: 10 km/h
Durability: 150/150
Expansion Slots: 1
Carriages: Level 0 Carriage*2
Modules: None
Mods: None
——————
Xiao Wuwang then opened the privileges gained from leveling up:
-
Train speed +10 km/h (Infinite Coins*5)
-
Platform Docking Time +1 hour (Infinite Coins*10)
-
Carriage1 (Infinite Coins10, Wood100, Iron50, Mechanical Parts*20)
-
Water Tank Module (Infinite Coins10, Iron20, Rubber10, Mechanical Parts5, Copper*5)
The privileges for upgrading from Level 0 to Level 1 were the same for everyone. After Level 1, it depended on luck—some might unlock powerful mods or obtain rare items, while others might only get common things.
During the novice period, speed wasn’t essential, as the train had absolute protection, so it could be improved later.
Platform docking time was more important for powerhouses. A longer docking time meant being able to collect more resources at the station site.
Carriages weren’t needed for now—the two system-rewarded carriages were more than enough for short-term use. Of course, if conditions allowed, it was better to build a carriage early for future needs.
The water tank module was also temporarily unnecessary, as upgrading one of the carriages to Level 1 and activating the living carriage expansion card would provide a built-in water tank in the living carriage.
After a brief consideration, Xiao Wuwang had a clear direction for his next actions.
He first checked his fatigue points, which had now recovered to 42. Then, he stepped off the train and headed toward the lumberyard.
The lumberyard wasn’t far from the station site, and Xiao Wuwang arrived in less than two minutes.
The lumberyard consisted of three dilapidated wooden huts, which served as living and resting quarters for the lumberjacks.
Xiao Wuwang walked up to the wooden house on the left, taking out the Beretta pistol and readying himself to fire at any moment.
If it was the same as in his previous life, there would be an axe inside this room.
Although he already had the Light Steel Axe, he didn’t mind having another one. Even if he couldn’t use it himself, he could trade it with someone else.
However, in his previous life, he had nearly lost his life trying to retrieve this axe.
With the lesson from his past life, Xiao Wuwang naturally had no intention of repeating the same mistake.
He carefully pushed open the door, and his gaze soon fell upon an axe in one corner.
Additionally, coiled in the shadows beside the axe was a venomous snake.
The snake’s coloration blended well with the surroundings, and an ordinary person might easily overlook it if they weren’t careful.
It seemed the sound of Xiao Wuwang opening the door had startled it awake, and it was now staring at him with cold, menacing eyes.
Xiao Wuwang’s expression sharpened. Without the slightest hesitation, he instantly aimed the Beretta pistol in his hand at the snake and pulled the trigger.
“Bang!”
With a crisp gunshot, the bullet shot out like lightning, striking the snake’s head with precision.
The snake’s head exploded in a spray of blood, killing it instantly!
Xiao Wuwang approached. The snake wasn’t large, with little meat on it, so he decided not to bother collecting the corpse. Instead, he turned his attention to the axe, and soon its information appeared before him:
Item Name: Iron Axe
Level: 0
Quality: Fine
Durability: 15/20
Trait: Reduces stamina consumption for woodcutting by 10%
Description: A fairly handy tool for felling trees
——————
In his previous life, he hadn’t possessed the appraisal skill and hadn’t been able to see this axe’s attributes. He never expected it to be a Fine-quality axe!
If he could upgrade it to Level 2, it would likely outperform the Light Steel Axe in woodcutting.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have the stamina to upgrade it now, so he could only store it in his Portable Space for the time being.
Afterward, Xiao Wuwang swept through the remaining rooms, gathering a total of: 1 box of matches, 1 iron pot, 2 cans of meat, and finally, half a bucket of clean water.
These were all daily necessities, and Xiao Wuwang didn’t let any of them go, taking everything.
After searching the lumberyard, Xiao Wuwang headed straight for a massive banyan tree not far away.
As he approached, he faintly spotted a faintly glowing chest half-hidden in the grass.
In his previous life, this chest had also been hidden in this exact spot.
This was a Supply Chest, different from the chests encountered along the train’s route.
Supply Crates were tiered, corresponding to the level of the Station Site.
Xiao Wuwang pulled the chest out of the grass and focused on it, as its information appeared before him:
【Supply Crate】
Level: 0
——————
It was simply marked with a level and nothing more.
Xiao Wuwang couldn’t resist using his Talent on it.
【Ding!】
【Talent successfully triggered! Supply Crate level increased to 1!】
It actually worked!
Checking his Fatigue Points, they had dropped from 48 to 34, a decrease of 14 points.
“I wonder if I can continue to upgrade it further?”
With this thought, he couldn’t help but attempt to activate his Talent again.
Sensing it, Xiao Wuwang couldn’t help but frown slightly.
He could feel that his Talent could be triggered, but there was an invisible resistance blocking its activation.
This was likely due to insufficient Fatigue Points!
Moreover, he sensed that even if his Fatigue Points were fully restored, he wouldn’t be able to upgrade the Supply Crate from Level 1 to Level 2!
“My foundation is still lacking,” Xiao Wuwang sighed softly but quickly composed his thoughts.
He pondered for a moment longer before finally deciding to open this Supply Crate.
“Clack!”
The crate opened, and Xiao Wuwang began taking out the items inside one by one.
