Chapter 51 – Waiting for the Rabbit

Chapter 51 – Waiting for the Rabbit

A flicker of vigilance and contemplation passed through Kyle’s eyes, but upon hearing that her parents were dead, Sarah immediately began to cry.

Kyle pulled Sarah into his arms, gently patting her back to comfort her.

Xiao Wuwang said, “Alright! We don’t have time to wallow in sorrow here. We have to leave now!”

“No!” Sarah shook her head vehemently. “I have to go back and see my parents.”

Xiao Wuwang frowned deeply, grabbing Sarah’s arm urgently. “Your parents are already dead. The dead cannot be brought back to life. Going back would be suicide! You need to understand that you’re carrying John Connor in your womb. He is the only hope for the Human Resistance to defeat the Terminators. Do you really want humanity to face extinction?”

Xiao Wuwang had no choice but to use the greater good of humanity to pressure her.

Sure enough, upon hearing this, Sarah Connor immediately quieted down.

At this moment, Kyle was gradually accepting Xiao Wuwang’s identity as someone sent back by John Connor to rescue them. Just as he was about to say something, another figure suddenly burst through the door.

The newcomer was also dressed in local attire, but his facial features clearly revealed him to be of East Asian descent.

Through the System Panel, Xiao Wuwang also knew this was another player from the Human Camp.

Xiao Wuwang didn’t dare let his guard down. He immediately turned his gun toward the newcomer, his eyes filled with vigilance. “Are you also sent by John Connor to protect Sarah Connor?”

The man was clever and caught the implication in Xiao Wuwang’s words, replying accordingly, “Yes! My name is ‘Du’.”

With the enemy camp still a threat, it was clear the other party didn’t want to clash with someone from the same faction.

Both men slowly holstered their guns, naturally indicating they didn’t want a conflict right now.

After putting away his gun, Xiao Wuwang extended his hand for a handshake. “My name is ‘Xiao’.”

After introducing themselves, they both turned their attention to Kyle and Sarah.

Xiao Wuwang pointed to his companion and said to Kyle, “You can think of us as people who have traveled back from different timelines in the future to protect Sarah. Right now, our goal is the same: to ensure Sarah’s safety. This place has been compromised, and the enemy will likely arrive soon. We need to relocate as quickly as possible.”

Du Yuming chimed in, “Yes! We have at most an hour left. We’d better find a place to set up traps and take them all out in one go. That way, you can be truly safe!”

His idea aligned perfectly with Xiao Wuwang’s.

Kyle thought for a moment and said, “Give me some time. I’ll prepare the explosives, and then we’ll leave!”

Du Yuming frowned. “Don’t bother! We brought weapons.”

Xiao Wuwang took out a grenade and handed it to Kyle. “These grenades are much more powerful than the explosives you’re preparing. Take them! As Du said, we need to quickly find a place to set up. The more time we have, the better for us. We can’t waste it on preparing explosives.”

Kyle looked at the grenade he had never seen before. Though somewhat skeptical, the fact that the other could produce such items out of thin air made him more convinced. “Alright! Let’s go!”

With that, he and Sarah began packing up.

Soon, the four of them left the inn.

Xiao Wuwang tossed the keys to the car he had stolen to Kyle, while he got into Du Yuming’s car.

Du Yuming started the vehicle. Once the car was steadily on the road, he got straight to the point. “Brother, let’s talk. How do we split the loot?”

Xiao Wuwang said, “The T-800 Terminator wreckage goes to me. As for slaying points from the opposing camp, we’ll each rely on our own abilities.”

After a pause, he continued, “You’re probably here for the opposing camp’s slaying points, right? Since the T-800 wreckage is mine, I’ll handle the T-800 myself. Before I take it down, you can earn as many slaying points as your skills allow!”

Du Yuming was slightly taken aback. After all, the wreckage of a destroyed T-800 was essentially worthless.

Moreover, the T-800 was a Mech!

Though only Level 3, it felt no pain, had no emotions, and was a complete, relentless madman that would stop at nothing to achieve its goal.

Among Level 3 Monsters, the T-800 was considered top-tier in combat strength.

Anyone facing it would have a headache, and destroying it would require a significant cost. Most players preferred to avoid confronting it.

This was also why so many had chosen the Terminator Camp.

Xiao Wuwang voluntarily taking on the T-800 and handing over the opportunity to harvest slaying points from the opposing camp made Du Yuming deeply suspicious.

But upon second thought, slaying players from the same camp wouldn’t drop Supply Crates. Unless there was deep-seated enmity or significant conflicting interests, no one wanted to attack players from their own camp.

If Xiao Wuwang truly coveted the T-800 wreckage, he certainly wouldn’t want interference from opposing camp players. Having Du Yuming keep the enemy players occupied was a good choice, so there was still a solid foundation for cooperation between them.

Having figured this out, Du Yuming didn’t stand on ceremony with Xiao Wuwang. “Deal!”

Night grew darker.

The two vehicles arrived one after another at a casting factory.

At this time, the factory was already closed for the day, with only a few security guards on duty. Du Yuming didn’t hesitate—he stepped on the gas, and with a loud “Bang,” crashed through the gate, driving straight in.

Before the vehicle even came to a stop, several security guards swarmed over, cursing loudly.

However, when they were met with the dark muzzles of guns, they all fell silent in unison and backed away hurriedly.

“Get lost if you don’t want to die. A terrifying battle is about to happen here,” Xiao Wuwang shouted.

The security guards were just doing their jobs and naturally had no desire to get involved in what seemed like a terrorist activity.

Like startled birds, they fled the casting factory in panic, quickly disappearing into the night.

Xiao Wuwang and Du Yuming regrouped with Kyle and Sarah.

The four of them began searching the vast casting factory for a suitable spot to set up traps.

Meanwhile, elsewhere.

The T-800 drove a pickup truck to the Dicky Motel.

As soon as it got out of the vehicle, a German Shepherd at the entrance began barking incessantly at it.

The T-800 ignored the dog and strode into the motel.

Following the T-800’s pickup were three other cars. After these vehicles stopped, eight people emerged one after another—they were the human players who had joined the Terminator Camp.

After getting out, they quickly sought cover, fearing that players from the Human Camp might have set an ambush here.

But after a while, no movement came from inside the motel, and they gradually gathered together.

One of them said, “It seems just as we guessed earlier—the two protagonists have probably been persuaded by players from the Human Camp and have already left this place.”

Another person chimed in, “Damn! If we can’t find them, what do we do? Are we supposed to wander around this huge city of Los Angeles like headless flies?”

“What’s the rush? Those who dare to choose the Human Camp are all proud and arrogant types. They definitely won’t give up on the core mission. They might be setting up a trap somewhere, waiting for us to walk right into it.”

“If it were you, where would you set the trap?”

“Anyone who’s seen the movies knows that to deal with a hunk of iron like the T-800, you need heavy machinery. Let’s ask around to find out where such equipment is nearby.”

“Makes sense!”

“Let’s split up and ask around! Hurry!”

The group immediately scattered, only to regroup shortly after.

After comparing notes, they quickly got the result they wanted—their target pointed directly to a nearby casting factory.

Meanwhile, the T-800 had searched around the Dicky Inn. Finding nothing, it returned straight to the pickup truck.

Just as it was about to start the vehicle and leave, one of the humans stepped forward and said, “I know where Sarah Connor is.”
