Chapter 64 – The Slaughter of the Ogre Tribe
Chapter 64 – The Slaughter of the Ogre Tribe
The dwarf immediately restrained his emotions, calming his tone as he said, “Our Crown Prince Adia has been captured by ogres. I beg… I beg you to rescue him.”
Xiao Wuwang replied, “Rescue him? That might not be possible, because I don’t know how much time has passed or whether he’s still alive. I can only say I’ll do my best. If he’s dead, I’ll do my best to avenge him. How does that sound?”
Upon hearing Xiao Wuwang’s words, the dwarf’s eyes dimmed for a moment. He knew Xiao Wuwang was right—he couldn’t be sure whether Adia and the others had already been eaten by the ogres. Quickly, he composed himself and nodded, mustering all his strength to say, “Alright… As long as you do your best, regardless of the outcome, I will be grateful. Please accept this coin.”
Xiao Wuwang didn’t stand on ceremony and immediately pocketed the 100 Infinite Coins. “Where is the ogre territory?”
The dwarf took a deep breath and immediately poured out everything he wanted to say: “About 15 kilometers southeast from here. The ogre territory is easy to spot—there’s a giant tree there, two to three hundred meters tall, the tallest and largest tree in the area. The ogres live inside the trunk of that giant tree.”
After speaking, the dwarf’s body seemed drained of all strength, and he leaned heavily against the tree trunk to keep from collapsing.
Having learned the destination of the mission, Xiao Wuwang wasted no time. “No time to delay. I’ll set off now.”
Pausing for a moment, Xiao Wuwang suddenly turned back and asked one last question, “By the way, what’s your name?”
The dwarf clasped his hands together gratefully and said, “My name is… Otto. Thank you… for accepting my request. May the great God of Mountains protect you, brave adventurer…”
As soon as he finished speaking, Otto’s hands fell limply, and the light gradually faded from his eyes.
Xiao Wuwang sighed softly and reached out to close its eyes.
Then, he called out to Han Xing and took out the all-terrain motorcycle.
Naturally, the motorcycle was handed over to Han Xing to drive, while Xiao Wuwang sat behind it.
With the system’s assistance, Han Xing could accurately assess the road conditions, easily handle the all-terrain motorcycle, and swiftly navigate the rugged jungle paths, speeding toward the southeast.
Along the way, the scenery in the jungle grew increasingly mysterious and unpredictable.
Giant vines coiled around towering trees like ancient serpents in slumber; strange flowers emitted multicolored glows, yet carried a faintly dangerous aura; occasionally, the roars of unknown beasts could be heard in the distance, sending shivers down the spine.
Xiao Wuwang made no stops, the roar of the motorcycle echoing through the forest.
In less than twenty minutes, after winding through the terrain, Xiao Wuwang finally arrived at a high slope.
Looking ahead, a towering giant tree stood at the center of his Vision Range, like a majestic green mountain piercing the sky.
That must be the giant tree the dwarf mentioned, where the ogres lived!
Xiao Wuwang put away the motorcycle, and Han Xing took the lead, heading toward the direction of the giant tree.
“Pfft!”
“Pfft!”
…
Along the way, the blade formed by Han Xing precisely stabbed the venomous creatures hidden in the leaves and grass, then flicked them away, clearing the path ahead for Xiao Wuwang.
With a Terminator robot by his side, Xiao Wuwang’s exploration through the dense forest was remarkably comfortable.
He even had the leisure to observe his surroundings, discovering many plants with medicinal properties. The greatest find among them was a plant called the “Gold-Veined Vermilion Fruit.”
The Gold-Veined Vermilion Fruit is a Level 3 medicinal herb. Its mature fruit is roughly the size of a thumb, oval-shaped, with a crimson-red surface adorned with golden veins. Consuming it can enhance one’s constitution and boost vital energy. It can also serve as an auxiliary ingredient for other high-quality medicinal herbs.
Using it to stew Crimson Flame Bear Meat can fully unleash the medicinal potency within the meat.
However, the Gold-Veined Vermilion Fruit alone is insufficient. Medicinal herbs capable of neutralizing the violent energy must also be found and cooked together with the Crimson Flame Bear Meat before consumption. Otherwise, given Xiao Wuwang’s current constitution, he would be unable to withstand the impact of the violent medicinal force within the Crimson Flame Bear Meat.
Xiao Wuwang dug up this Gold-Veined Vermilion Fruit, roots and soil intact, and directly stored it in the Stasis Space. Once back, he could plant it in the Planting Carriage, allowing him to harvest it at any time in the future.
The discovery of this single Gold-Veined Vermilion Fruit alone made this trip worthwhile!
As they gradually approached the giant tree, a foul, fishy stench began to permeate the air.
This was the distinctive odor of Ogres, indicating that they were not far from an Ogre lair.
Xiao Wuwang continued walking without pause, following behind Han Xing.
Suddenly, Han Xing raised its hand, signaling Xiao Wuwang to stop, while it itself began to run swiftly.
Xiao Wuwang, following behind, made several leaps and landed on a relatively tall tree.
Looking ahead, they had now arrived near the giant tree.
Beneath the giant tree’s canopy, very little sunlight could penetrate, leaving a large, open area around the tree mostly devoid of vegetation, appearing quite barren.
On this open ground, over a dozen Ogres sat around a bonfire, heartily devouring Beast Meat hunted from who-knows-where, the smell of blood thick in the air.
Xiao Wuwang scanned the area and quickly spotted several dwarves tied to a tree stump not far away.
The one tied in the middle, wearing relatively better-quality hide clothing, was likely his mission target.
At this moment, Han Xing, through Transformation, disguised itself as an Ogre and strode boldly toward the bonfire.
The Ogres seated around the fire, completely unaware that this new Ogre was not one of their own, remained immersed in the joy of their meal.
Han Xing approached the largest Ogre present.
This was the only Level 4 Ogre on the scene.
This Ogre, utterly unaware of the approaching danger, continued to take large bites from the Beast Meat in its hands.
“Pfft!”
Once close, Han Xing instantly transformed one hand into a sharp blade and, with lightning speed, thrust it forcefully into the back of the Level 4 Ogre’s skull.
The sudden attack gave the Level 4 Ogre no time to even scream before it toppled headfirst into the bonfire.
The scattering sparks and flying Beast Meat first stunned the surrounding Ogres, who then erupted into deafening roars. They all stood up, brandishing their crude weapons, and charged at Han Xing.
Han Xing reverted to its original form, its steps never ceasing. With a flicker of its figure, it appeared before a Level 3 Ogre.
“Pfft!”
A swing of its hand-blade instantly severed the Level 3 Ogre’s neck.
After instantly killing it, Han Xing paid it no further mind. Its figure flashed like lightning once more as it charged toward another Level 3 Ogre.
Each swing of its arm, transformed into a blade, was accompanied by a flash of cold light, followed immediately by an Ogre falling.
These Ogres, not even level 4, were no match for Han Xing at all.
In just over a minute, more than a dozen Ogres were completely slaughtered.
Not far away, Xiao Wuwang watched Han Xing slaughter the Ogres as easily as cutting through melons and vegetables, silently marveling at the power of the Terminator robot.
Just as Han Xing was about to rescue the few dwarves hanging from the tree stump, suddenly, a series of dull sounds echoed from the trunk of the giant tree, followed by one Ogre after another rushing out from the dark hollows in the trunk.
It turned out that the Ogres outside were merely sentinels, while the true Ogre forces were hidden within the tree’s hollows.
Yet, no matter how many Ogres there were, they were nothing more than lambs to the slaughter before Han Xing.
