Chapter 68: Recognized
Chapter 68: Recognized
An arrow shot to Kamiyu’s feet.
Kamiyu instantly switched weapons and performed a Backstep, using the water snake corpse as cover as she looked toward the direction the arrow came from.
She immediately went on alert, pulling out her NTW-40 Sniper Rifle and setting it up.
A group of ten Players in various outfits emerged from the thick fog.
It was those two Official Players she had knocked flying earlier—Kamiyu recognized those lackeys.
“Not bad reflexes, even knowing to use the Black-Scaled Water Snake’s corpse as cover,” said an Official Player in Leather Armor, holding a Bow, stepping forward.
Kamiyu watched the ten Players warily.
“Leave everything behind, and we Official Players will spare your life,” the Archer Player said.
“Captain Qian, didn’t we agree to interrogate first, then kill?” asked the Player who had been knocked flying by Kamiyu earlier.
This Archer called Captain Qian slapped him: “Are you telling me what to do? Newbies these days have no respect, can’t even tell who’s in charge.”
Kamiyu couldn’t understand why they knew she was here, and how she hadn’t noticed them.
Had they been following her all along? She had kept looking back, glancing left and right along the way.
But she hadn’t spotted anyone—how did they manage it?
Seeing Kamiyu’s confused expression, Captain Qian, adhering to the Villain’s principle of talking too much, sneered contemptuously: “Thought you’d be pretty tough, knocking two of our small fries flying.
Turns out you’re a clueless Newbie. That makes things much easier for us.”
The others joined in with mocking laughter.
An Official Player wearing a dog-nose Mask stepped forward, pointed at the mask on his face, and said with a weird laugh: “This mask can track Players and Monsters based on scent.
It’s a unique Item produced exclusively in Instance Dungeons monopolized by us Official Players, never leaked to you Civilian Players.”
Kamiyu’s eyes widened. There’s such an Item?
It wasn’t her fault—her Construction Sage Talent’s Crafting Panel contained tens of thousands of game Items, each with extensive effect information.
She couldn’t even look through one type of Weapon, let alone such a special Item.
Now Kamiyu understood: this dog-nose Official Player had sniffed the scent she left on those two lackeys she had beaten, then tracked her based on that scent.
Kamiyu retorted sarcastically: “Dog nose paired with lackeys—quite the match. You’re just a pack of dogs for the Official Players.”
“What did you say?”
“Damn you, looking for death, aren’t you?”
“I’m posting this online, accusing you of insulting the officials.”
Seeing these guys instantly lose their composure because of her, Kamiyu was inwardly overjoyed.
She continued in a Sneaky, mocking tone: “Haha, stepped on your dog tails, didn’t I? Dogs will be dogs—listen to how loud they’re barking.
Dogs are dogs, with dog noses, being lackeys, and having dog tails.
Oh wait, dogs are so cute—you’re not even as good as dogs.” When it came to verbal sparring, Kamiyu wouldn’t lose either.
Even if she couldn’t win in a fight, she couldn’t lose in momentum.
“Captain Qian, let’s all attack together, finish her off,” one Official Player said.
Kamiyu looked at these cowardly yet loud guys—they really were like a pack of dogs, barking and barking, but not daring to bite.
She had been worried she couldn’t take them on, but it seemed these so-called Players were just lackeys after all.
Her sarcasm wasn’t just meant to provoke the other side; she was buying time. She had just used the Stealth skill of the False Death Garment, which entered a 10-minute cooldown.
There were still over 10 minutes left on the cooldown.
She was clever, constantly utilizing the passive skill of Ancestral Spirit’s Blessing: “After remaining motionless for 2 seconds, you gain 10 seconds of invincibility until you start moving.”
Every 12 seconds, she shifted her left foot.
She moved it out, then moved it back.
This refreshed her coordinates, which was judged as movement.
After shifting, she remained still for 2 seconds, gaining 10 seconds of invincibility. It was important to note that the 10 seconds of invincibility also required her to remain motionless.
Simply put, within the 12 seconds of stillness, she would take damage during the first 2 seconds but would be immune to damage for the next 10 seconds, not even affected by environmental hazards—equivalent to 10 seconds of Golden Body.
She relied on these “fidgety” little movements to continuously exploit the invincibility window.
Ten official players?
More like ten targets.
Just as Kamiyu steadied her Sniper Rifle, finger on the trigger, ready to start killing—
One of the official players spoke up: “Wait, look at the weapon in her hand.”
“What weapon? Isn’t it just a broken fire poker?” someone sneered.
“This rookie hasn’t learned her lesson. Earlier at the city gate, even those civilian players told her that human firearms are useless against our armor,” another player said.
“That fire poker in her hand is useless, but the dagger and staff she had earlier were quite effective. Save the staff for me later—I’m in need of a staff,” a Mage said.
“You wish. This is a lightning-attribute staff. At the Trading Post, one of these can sell for as much as three others. Of course, it should be offered to Officer Lei Yao,” Qian Dui said.
Without even starting the fight, these people had already planned how to divide Kamiyu’s weapons and equipment.
Their arrogant, dismissive attitude infuriated Kamiyu.
“Kill them. I must kill every last one of them.” Kamiyu held her breath, focused her mind, and prepared to fire.
“Wait, take a closer look at the Sniper Rifle in her hand. It’s identical to the one in the picture.
She’s the wanted criminal, Kamiyu,” the player who had spoken first loudly warned.
“What?”
“Is that true?”
“Are you mistaken?”
The previously laughing, bandit-like lackeys all wore expressions of shock.
Their internal reports had detailed Kamiyu’s terrifying capabilities.
Final victor of Deathmatch Mode, hitting three players with three consecutive shots in 5 seconds with perfect accuracy.
Just the Deathmatch Mode alone made her far stronger than 99% of players.
Most ordinary players, during the Black Sphere Game’s player selection phase, played only basic games—some as simple as rock-paper-scissors.
PVE Dungeon Boss fights were considered difficult games.
Not to mention a chaotic 12-player Deathmatch Mode.
But that wasn’t all. In the eyes of these official players, even Bai Zhan—a figure at the pinnacle of the pyramid—had been instantly killed by Kamiyu with a single shot.
She could single-handedly take down a top-tier expert equipped with three Ancestral Legendary Weapons.
Wiping out ten of their lackeys would be easier than drinking water.
Without a word, one official player turned and immediately started running.
“Bang.”
His upper body vanished instantly, leaving only his lower half to fall to the ground, blood and shattered bones scattering everywhere.
As long as she held the gun, Kamiyu had never lost.
“Huh? My Level went up, and even my Attack Power increased?” Kamiyu saw the broken half of a corpse on the ground through her sniper scope.
“Run for it!”
“Don’t run! Use your Skill!” Captain Qian shouted to stop them.
Yet no one paid him any attention.
So-called Official Players were nothing but a scattered mess—not gathered for a common goal, but only to seize personal benefits under the so-called “good platform.”
This meant that Official Players were always wary of each other, never trusting one another.
In this brutal Crimson Earth, they would never survive for long.
