Chapter 121: Trouble

Chapter 121: Trouble

Different combinations of Magic Bullets produce different effects, unlike the straightforward, one-through-three-four-five-six playstyle of the northern battlefield.

On the southern battlefield, Kamiyu chose to pair Curving Bullets with Thunderstorm Bullets, unexpectedly creating an even more dazzling and exhilarating playstyle.

A “thunderstorm” descended upon the southern battlefield—a genuine “thunder” and “rain,” with lightning falling as densely as raindrops.

Each strike landed precisely on the heads of the Aberrant Beast Demons, generating five splitting arcs of electricity that electrocuted the nearby monsters.

Because it was difficult to aim accurately across a Main City, and the Frontline Team’s reckless playstyle had them mingling with the Aberrant Beast Demons, Kamiyu couldn’t act as freely as she wished.

“Forget it, they can handle the remaining monsters. I’ll deal with the ones on the east and west sides first,” Kamiyu adjusted her aim once more.

When Li Changde and the others saw the “thunderstorm” stop, instead of complaining about Kamiyu, their killing intent only grew fiercer.

“Brothers, charge! Lady Kamier has opened the way for us. Charge!” Li Changde raised a long Curved Blade high and swung it forward in a powerful slash.

“Charge!” the First-Line Team Members roared in unison.

Kamiyu glanced back and was startled. “Wow, those guys really aren’t afraid of death.”

She quickly adjusted her muzzle toward the east. Since the north, east, and south sides were defended by members of her own Guild, Kamiyu prioritized supporting these three directions.

Fortunately, there was a moat on the eastern side, and the terrain there was easy to fortify. In the early stages, many Players had stacked defensive structures here, and there were also plenty of Solo Players on the eastern side joining in the excitement.

Even though the eastern defense was held by the slightly weaker Third Line troops, they could still hold their ground for a while, relying on favorable terrain and manpower.

“Hey, they’re putting up a decent fight,” Kamiyu observed the Third Line troops frantically casting Skills into the water, taking advantage of the moat.

She also saw over a dozen Mage Class professions continuously releasing Poison Element Skills into the river.

“Damn, no wonder there are so many poison-resistant monsters in this river. You guys have basically given them drug resistance,” Kamiyu quipped.

“Then I’ll just add ‘fuel to the fire’ for you Aberrant Beast Demons,” Kamiyu loaded her Sniper Rifle with Thunderstorm Bullets and Curving Bullets.

Click. The sound of the Trigger being pulled.

A platinum-colored bolt of lightning descended from the sky, striking the head of a monster above the moat.

Even the Crimson Earth obeyed the laws of physics. The powerful electric current traveled through the pitch-black river water, electrocuting and injuring every monster in the entire river.

“Not bad. Now it’s not just five arcs of damage, limited to hurting at most five monsters. Instead, every monster in the whole river gets electrocuted and killed,” Kamiyu’s eyes widened.

“Hahaha, this saves even more bullets,” Kamiyu said.

The reputation of the northern tower had already spread. Everyone knew that the mysterious expert atop the tower was the “Pharmacist” Kamier of the Invincible Guild.

Players on the eastern city wall and the eastern frontline all marveled at Kamiyu’s formidable strength.

A Newcomer Player on the city wall proudly declared, “You all talk about how terrifying the Hell Tide is, but it turns out it’s just like this. Not scary at all.”

A Veteran Player nearby gave him a knock on the head with a fist and said, “That’s because the Lady from the Northern Tower intervened. If she hadn’t, our eastern city gate would have been breached long ago.”

“She’s in a league of her own, even stronger than other Beta Testers. I heard she equipped every single one of the 800-plus Players in her entire Guild with a piece of Armor, and there’s no shortage of Health Restoration Potions and Resistance Potions. Haven’t you seen how the Players from the Invincible Guild charge forward without regard for their lives? That’s because if their Armor breaks, they have replacements; if their Potions run out, they get resupplied. They’re not rushing to their deaths—they’re rushing to grab Experience.” The Guild Player beside him spoke with envy.

That’s right—equipment, materials, and points had to be handed over to Kamiyu to craft Potions and exchange for Altar of Lilith blessings. But the Experience they earned from grinding was their own. Leveling up benefited them personally. It felt like, under Kamiyu’s power, this Hell Tide had been turned into a massive Experience-grinding event.

“Damn, is it too late for me to join this Lady’s Guild now?” the Newcomer Player asked.

“Go ask Li Changde at the southern city gate.”

The battle cries from the north, east, and south shook the heavens, while the western Battlefield was eerily quiet. Only a handful of Aberrant Beast Demons appeared, and their Levels weren’t high either—they were dealt with in just two or three strikes.

“Something’s off. In previous Hell Tides, even though the western Battlefield faces the cliff, there would still be flying-type Demons. Why are only Level 5 or 6 Demons coming this time?” a Veteran Player remarked.

“Could it be that Lei Yao’s Sanctuary is sharing the pressure?” another Player suggested.

“Impossible. We’ve been watching the west these past few days, and there hasn’t been much activity over there. Even after the blood sun appeared just now, there were no signs of Skills being unleashed from the west,” the Veteran Player analyzed.

“Something’s not right. The battle cries from the two great plains to the north and south are earth-shaking. From here, we can see Skills flying all over the sky on both sides. The Ranged classes on the city walls have been spamming Skills nonstop, which shows the intensity of this Hell Tide. Even the eastern Battlefield, protected by a moat, is filled with the sounds of fierce combat,” a Squad Veteran Player added.

“Isn’t that better? No Aberrant Beast Demons are attacking our side,” a New Player said.

“Better, my foot. This isn’t calm—it’s abnormal. The more abnormal something is, the more dangerous it tends to be,” the Veteran Player retorted.

“But no matter how abnormal it is, isn’t Lei Yao’s big Sanctuary holding the line for us in the west?” the New Player asked, still confused.

“That’s hard to say,” the Squad Player cautiously replied, looking up at the Sanctuary perched atop the western cliff, its outer walls dark and gloomy.

Other Beta Testers built their Sanctuaries as far from the Main City as possible, but Lei Yao built his right next to it—and on the western cliff, no less, overlooking and monitoring the entire Main City. Back when it was being constructed, Official Players and Civilian Players fought several battles over it.

At this very moment, on the training ground of Lei Yao’s Sanctuary, Lei Yao stood on the podium. He was already fully equipped with Armor and Weapons. To carry out his plan, he had also donned a majestic decorative outfit—a red Cloak—and swapped his Helmet for a silver-black Legendary Tier Helmet adorned with a cross.

He checked the time and thought to himself, “It’s about time. The Aberrant Beast Demons have already breached the Main City. It’s time to give the speech and then mobilize the army to occupy Kaijistan.”

Rumors had long been circulating. Everyone knew that their Officer Lei Yao intended to lead them in conquering Kaijistan.

He glanced at the soldiers on the training ground and raised his right hand, ready to rally them with a shout.

Just then, an advisor hurried in from outside, leaned close to Lei Yao’s ear, and whispered, “General Lei Yao, something terrible has happened.”
