Hmm, apparently this happens every year, but…

The matchups for the first-years’ second bouts after their debut matches seem blatantly curated.

133: Anonymous Student

Right? It’s so obvious.

134: Anonymous Student

What do you mean?

I looked at the bracket, but the matchups don’t seem that strange to me.

135: Anonymous Student

>134 A new student, huh? Here’s some advice.

Who are the people who suffered a crushing defeat in their debut match paired against?

136: Anonymous Student

>135 Hm? Ah! I-I see. Right. This is intentional, or rather, I see…

137: Anonymous Student

Please provide a detailed explanation for the benefit of those of us who aren’t convinced yet.

138: Anonymous Student

I guess I have no choice~. Though keep in mind~ that what I’m about to say is just rumors among students~ and not based on any actual evidence~.

So, to put it simply~.

For the first-years’ second match~

Those who were crushed in their debut match are paired with opponents they have great compatibility with.

Those who couldn’t showcase their strengths in their debut match are paired with opponents who allow them to do so.

Those whose weaknesses were exposed in their debut match are paired with opponents who will exploit those weaknesses.

And those who won big in their debut match and have gone arrogant are paired with an A-Rank Evaluated to shut them up with the sheer difference in Magic Capacity.

It’s basically set up so that they experience winning or become aware of their flaws~ to ensure their future growth goes smoothly~.

From the third match onward, it’s relatively random~ or in some cases, there are patterns where student requests are granted~.

139: Anonymous Student

Huh, I see…

140: Anonymous Student

The Duel Academy truly is a place of learning.

141: Anonymous Student

Wait? Then the people who were paired with A-Rank Evaluated…

Like Greater Arm, who was forced to fight Narcissus…

142: Anonymous Student

>141 I think the primary goal there was to investigate how one might actually break through Narcissus.

And in reality, Greater Arm’s attacks couldn’t break Narcissus’s shield… What the hell is that defense power?

143: Anonymous Student

I know Greater Arm personally, and he was totally normal even after his debut match.

He just kept training his muscles as usual; there was no change in attitude at all.

So I really think the main point was to investigate a way to defeat Narcissus.

144: Anonymous Student

Is that so? Sorry, Greater Arm. I doubted you for a second.

By the way, Greater Arm.

How did Narcissus’s arms and chest feel?

145: Anonymous Public Morals Committee Member

144 I am issuing a warning ticket. Be prepared for the consequences if you repeat such remarks.

146: Anonymous Student

>145 I’m so sorry!!

147: Anonymous Student

lol

148: Anonymous Student

Served him right.

149: Anonymous Student

Good work, Public Morals Committee.

150: Anonymous Student

Back to the topic.

Why is there a need to investigate whether Greater Arm’s attacks can break Narcissus’s defense?

If a way to break Narcissus’s defense is found, I feel like it’ll be a problem in the future when Narcissus becomes a professional Duelist.

151: Anonymous Student

>150 To plug a hole, you first have to find the hole.

Even if it’s a hole that can’t be plugged, you have to find it so you can prevent others from exploiting it.

Anyway, back to reality.

152: Anonymous Student

>150 There’s currently no guarantee that Narcissus won’t betray the country. And yet there are no countermeasures. Not a single chance. As a nation, that’s a problem, right?

Anyway, back to reality.

153: Anonymous Student

The scariest thing about Narcissus is that with that level of strength, he’s still using an Academy-issued Device.

Academy-issued Devices are specialized for versatility, meaning their other performance specs should be modest…

154: Anonymous Student

Considering Narcissus’s specs, there are probably as many companies as there are stars in the sky that would want to manufacture a Custom Device for him.

It’s only a matter of time before he gets one.

155: Anonymous Student

Oh my~. Is that not known yet~?

156: Anonymous Student

>155 Do you know something?

157: Anonymous Student

>155 Is there something going on?

158: Anonymous Student

There certainly is~.

As for the person inside Narcissus~ they were meeting with someone from ‘Silk Cloud’ the other day~.

And judging by the coming and going of Silk Cloud personnel~ I’d bet a prototype will be ready by the Sports Festival~?

159: Anonymous Student

Hiee

160: Anonymous Student

Gasp

161: Anonymous Student

Tomoe! Please bring a Custom Device and deal with this!

You’re the only first-year we can rely on!!

162: Anonymous Student

Public Morals Committee Chairman! Do something! Please do something!

If that thing gets a Custom Device, I don’t feel like an attack would land even in a 1-vs-100!!

163: Anonymous Student

Stop accelerating the “Impossible Game”! Even if Narcissus’s own firepower is low, the recent breast-clamping and Giant Swing proved that he’s still perfectly capable of fighting!!

164: Anonymous Student

At this rate, isn’t this just heading toward a Handicap Match, even though it’s a class?

165: Anonymous Student

The screams of agony, lol.

166: Anonymous Student

>164 Surely not that. Though they might consider pairing him against second or third-years sooner rather than later.

167: Anonymous Student

Honestly, it’s a problem that half-baked attacks don’t even seem to work as feints.

168: Anonymous Student

We should probably drop this topic. The funeral atmosphere is only getting worse.

169: Anonymous Student

Rather than being wary of Narcissus~ shouldn’t we be more wary of the three people around him~?

It’s almost certain that those three and Narcissus will form a team~ and if that happens~ it’s only natural from a corporate profit standpoint that those three would also be given Custom Devices, right~?

170: Anonymous Student

Ah.

171: Anonymous Student

Now that you mention it, you’re right.

172: Anonymous Student

Unfair!? They’re just getting the Narcissus leftovers!?

173: Anonymous Student

>172 It’s not unfair at all~. Considering the positions and roles of those three~ it’s actually a bargain~.

174: Anonymous Student

Let’s see, Narcissus’s entourage… Suzu Mikagami, Fas, and Marie Aurum.

Suzu Mikagami has already finished her second match.

Apparently, she was crushed by a rush-down attack.

175: Anonymous Student

>174 That loss was inevitable. Against a super-rush type, Suzu Mikagami, who needs preparation time, has the worst possible compatibility.

176: Anonymous Student

>175 Exactly. That said, she was throwing test tubes before taking the first hit and was moving to evade, so she’ll probably find a way to deal with it eventually.

177: Anonymous Student

Suzu Mikagami is the type who fights using typical Masked Form functions; she’s the type who proves that the amount of Magic Capacity doesn’t necessarily decide the match.

Personally, I’m rooting for her.

I hope she does her best.

178: Anonymous Student

I wonder why the person inside Narcissus can stand being around Suzu Mikagami?

Aren’t they scared?

179: Anonymous Student

Because they’re broad-minded.

180: Anonymous Student

They definitely get scared when it’s time to be scared.

181: Anonymous Student

>177 I see. You’re rooting for her. Good luck.

182: Anonymous Student

>181?

183: Anonymous Student

>182 Isn’t unrequited love painful?

184: Anonymous Student

>183 Not really? I mean, it’s like supporting an idol; I’m just shouting my love unilaterally. The other person doesn’t even need to acknowledge me. In fact, I’d prefer if they didn’t. I just want them to show me who they are and continue to fascinate me. If they need money for that, I’ll pay as much as it takes, so they can be at peace. I simply use the word “rooting” with the feeling that as long as my fave is happy, that’s enough! By the way, I’m a Suzu-simper.

185: Anonymous Student

>184 Squeak

186: Anonymous Student

>184 Too heavy.

187: Anonymous Student

>184 Stop writing weird manifestos.

188: Anonymous Public Morals Committee Member

184 I won’t issue a warning ticket, but think about how others perceive you. I know exactly who and where you are, you know?

189: Anonymous Student

>188 Ah, yes. Sorry, Senior.

190: Anonymous Student

I re-watched Fas and Marie Aurem’s debut matches, and they definitely feel like they’re hiding something.

191: Anonymous Student

>190 Of course they are. You hide your trump cards.

192: Anonymous Student

People from wealthy families practice Masquerade before entering the academy, and some inherit family secrets.

Those two are probably like that.

193: Anonymous Student

>192 Aren’t those kinds of secrets usually countered?

194: Anonymous Student

>193 Of course, there are cases where they are.

But that’s exactly why they can be effective counters, or they might have arranged the secret so that the countermeasures don’t work.

195: Anonymous Student

To be honest, a one-hit wonder doesn’t qualify as a “secret technique.”

196: Anonymous Student

>195 Stop with the “Fireball Straight.” Do you know how many Duelists have died because of that one phrase…

197: Anonymous Student

>196 It’s a fact, so deal with it.

198: Anonymous Student

Well, the learning at the academy is precisely so we don’t end up as one-hit wonders, so let’s do our best.

199: Anonymous Student

The reality is that getting that one hit is actually pretty hard.

I envy those who can achieve it through their Masked Form functions.

200: Anonymous Student

True that—
