Chapter 124 – The Confused Qiu Bai
Chapter 124 – The Confused Qiu Bai
The True Lords reminisced for a while before flying off toward Jueyun Karst.
Meanwhile, Qiu Bai looked down at the somewhat damaged terrain below Nantianmen.
Immediately, a Divine White Light appeared in his hand, illuminating the entire land.
Under the utterly astonished gazes of Lumine and Paimon.
Countless plants and trees grew wildly, trees sprouting from the damaged terrain, covering the destruction.
“This should do it.”
Qiu Bai looked at the vegetation below and said with a smile.
“Since the matter is resolved.”
“We should return to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Director Hu must be getting anxious by now.”
Bosacius scratched his head and said to Qiu Bai, Morax, and the Dragon King.
“Mm, go ahead.”
“I’ll have to go back and check in a moment as well.”
Zhongli crossed his arms and spoke calmly.
“Brother, goodbye!”
“We’ll head back first!”
Qiu Yue looked at Qiu Bai and said with a smile.
“Go on, Qiu Yue.”
“Tell the Director we’ll be back soon.”
Qiu Bai looked at the adorable Qiu Yue and replied with a smile.
Then, the five Yakshas and Qiu Yue shot off toward Liyue Harbor.
Left behind were Azhdaha, Lumine, Paimon, Qiu Bai, and Morax.
“Let’s go down.”
“We can talk on the ground; the wind up here is too strong.”
Qiu Bai looked at the group and spoke with a smile.
Soon, they all landed on the ground.
Morax flashed with golden light, transforming into Zhongli’s appearance.
Morpheus similarly shimmered with ink-white spiritual light, reverting to Qiu Bai’s form.
Then Morax turned and smiled at Azhdaha.
He walked toward a tree.
The Dragon-Subduing Tree was now gone.
In its place stood a large tree regrown by Qiu Bai using Divine Power.
“Three hundred years ago, Azhdaha attacked The Chasm.”
“I personally intervened, battling him all the way from The Chasm to this spot.”
“In the end, I struck him down and sealed him underground.”
Zhongli looked at the tree before him and spoke slowly.
Azhdaha watched Zhongli’s back, also crossing his arms, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
“The Dragon-Suppressing Stone was born from that great battle.”
“Azhdaha has an instinctive reaction to it, subconsciously wanting to use that object to find me.”
Zhongli turned around, looking at Lumine and Paimon, and spoke slowly.
“At the end of that battle, though I defeated him, it wasn’t because he was weaker than me.”
“In his heart, he still held affection for me, for Liyue, and for all life on the surface.”
Zhongli looked at Azhdaha and said with a smile.
“It’s just a pity that Erosion made him forget.”
Zhongli sighed, turned his head, and said to Lumine and Paimon.
“The power of Erosion is too terrifying.”
“Have you also been eroded?”
Lumine placed a hand on her chest, looking at Zhongli in surprise as she asked.
“I cannot escape it either.”
“If not for Qiu Bai, the time until my complete erosion would not have been long.”
Zhongli touched his chest, glanced at Qiu Bai, then turned to Lumine and spoke slowly.
“Qiu Bai.”
“Can even Erosion be repaired?”
Paimon looked at Qiu Bai and asked with some surprise.
After hearing about Erosion for so long, they now understood what it truly meant.
Could something related to memory really be restored?
“The more powerful the strength, the greater the danger it brings after erosion.”
“For the sake of the correct path, people continuously lose.”
“Perhaps this is the erosion imposed upon me by the Heavenly Principles.”
Zhongli gazed at the twilight sky and spoke slowly.
“But I am a god of humanity. No matter how my identity may change…”
“I will witness the history of humanity with these eyes of mine.”
Zhongli lowered his head, looking at Lumine and Paimon as he spoke softly.
“You still care deeply about Liyue…”
Paimon placed a hand over her chest and said with a smile.
“It’s nothing, just my duty.”
“I imagine my two old friends would feel the same way.”
Zhongli crossed his arms, looking at Qiu Bai and Azhdaha as he spoke.
“Naturally so.”
Qiu Bai nodded with a smile upon hearing this.
“Even though we have become mortals now…”
“If Liyue ever faces a crisis it cannot resolve, we will still intervene.”
Azhdaha furrowed his brow and spoke slowly.
“This time, thank you both.”
Zhongli looked at Lumine and Paimon as he spoke.
“No need to be so polite!”
Paimon clasped her small hands behind her back and said cheerfully.
“Wait.”
“I want to ask you about something.”
Lumine looked at Zhongli and spoke softly.
“What is it?”
Zhongli asked with some confusion.
“It’s about my brother.”
Lumine placed a hand over her chest and spoke slowly.
“Oh right, I almost forgot!”
“That’s right, not long ago we met someone called Dainsleif.”
Paimon seemed to remember something and turned to Zhongli.
“He told us about the disappearance of Khaenri’ah and the punishment of the gods…”
“These matters are related to the person we’re looking for.”
Paimon pointed forward with one hand, recalling the scene at the time.
“And according to what Qiu Bai said, he has only lived for a thousand years.”
“And he’s been in deep sleep all this time, knowing nothing.”
Paimon turned to Qiu Bai as she spoke.
“This concerns my family.”
“All of this is very important to me.”
Lumine looked at Zhongli and asked.
“Zhongli, unlike Qiu Bai, you’re an ancient god who has lived for thousands of years.”
“You must have personally experienced those events, right?”
Paimon looked at Zhongli with anticipation.
“Hmm…”
“Ah…”
Zhongli closed his eyes as if recalling something, appearing troubled.
“I cannot speak of it.”
Then he slowly opened his eyes and looked at Lumine and Paimon.
“Why?!”
“Why can’t you reveal any information? This is really important to us!”
Paimon looked at Zhongli and exclaimed loudly.
“I understand, but I’m sorry—this is my Contract.”
“This Contract was forged before everything began. As one who upholds contracts, I must remain silent about this.”
Zhongli lowered his head, remained silent for a moment, then spoke slowly.
“How can this be!”
Paimon said angrily.
“Alright, don’t trouble Morax any further.”
“Disappointing you was never his intention.”
Qiu Bai crossed his arms and said with a smile.
“I am also investigating the mysteries of this world.”
“When I find the answers, I will tell you.”
Qiu Bai looked at Lumine and Paimon with a smile.
“I consider you a friend. It was never my intention to disappoint you.”
“But as the God of Contracts, I cannot possibly betray these Contracts.”
Zhongli crossed his arms and spoke apologetically.
Qiu Bai smiled. This world still held many mysteries.
If Zhongli spoke directly, wouldn’t that make things boring?
Even he himself felt puzzled about certain aspects.
Thinking of this, Qiu Bai frowned. There was one thing he had never been able to understand.
