Chapter 107: Gunshots in the Cathedral
Chapter 107: Gunshots in the Cathedral
Holy Light Cathedral.
Priest An Dao removed the protective barrier around the Heavenly Father Altar and said, “Lord Beta Tester, please follow me closer to the Heavenly Father Altar. I have an important item to give to you.”
As soon as Kamiyu stepped into the inner circle of the Heavenly Father Altar, the outer circle of the altar immediately lit up with a white-gold light. At the same time, a white-gold halo suddenly appeared above her head.
The two priests in the outer circle of the altar, like fanatics, began to worship Kamiyu, continuously chanting:
“Oh, by the Holy Light, it is the Angel.”
“The Angel has descended to the mortal world, we are saved.”
Reminded by Jack, Kamiyu took out a mirror to look and discovered that beside this angelic halo, there were three cross-shaped stars rotating around it.
“Wow, such a flashy skin effect,” Kamiyu’s eyes lit up, feeling as if she had truly become the angel they spoke of.
When she reached out to touch the halo, An Dao immediately stopped her: “Lord, you must not touch it.”
Just as her hand was about to make contact, she felt a searing pain. Her reflexes made her immediately pull her hand back.
Kamiyu saw her Health drop by half instantly.
“Damn, that’s insane, I didn’t even touch it,” Kamiyu immediately took out several Intermediate Health Restoration Potions and drank them.
“Angel, this is the Angel Halo. Mortals do not have the ability to touch it,” Priest An Dao warned.
“But why don’t I feel any heat on my head?” Kamiyu asked.
“That is because the distance is sufficient. The closer one gets to the Angel Halo, the greater the Heavenly Father’s energy, and the harder it is for mortals to endure,” Priest An Dao explained.
Kamiyu pressed further: “Is this what you wanted to give me? How do I use this Angel Halo? Does every Beta Tester have one?”
She was captivated by this beautiful skin effect. Whether it was due to the Angel Halo’s effect or not, all her previous negative emotions had completely vanished.
Her current mood was extremely high and excited, filled with an uncontrollable exhilaration.
Immense, vast, pure energy.
This was precisely why she felt the primordial Strength when she approached the Heavenly Father Altar.
This was precisely why the Aberrant Beast Demons wanted to destroy and corrupt the Heavenly Father Altar.
Priest An Dao, calm and steady like an elder, answered Kamiyu’s questions one by one: “This is part of the prophecy in ancient texts. The Angel will descend to the mortal world, purify the Crimson Earth, and save humanity.”
Kamiyu felt speechless again; An Dao was starting to sound mystical and cryptic once more.
She thought to herself: Since it’s an angel, it should surely be able to wield the Heavenly Father’s power. But right now, she was still human—she couldn’t even touch the halo. Just bringing her hand close to it ignored the Defense Power of her Legendary Armor, ignored the Invincible effect, and still took half her Health.
She probably wasn’t the angel An Dao spoke of.
An Dao continued: “This is the only Angel Halo. Other Beta Tester Players have only inherited the Title of Beta Tester Player; they are not angels.”
Kamiyu anxiously thought to herself, based on past television and film works, an angel’s identity could be stripped away. Could it be that the Angel Halo could change owners?
But now was not the time to worry about such things.
An Dao continued: “The usage of the Angel Halo will be guided by the Heavenly Father.
According to the prophecy, the fragments of the Heavenly Father Altar are to be given to the Angel.”
“The angels are to rebuild the Main City for the Heavenly Father and eliminate all Aberrant Beast Demons from Hell.”
“Wait, the logic is off, the sequence is wrong.
And An Dao’s order of answering questions is also off—he’s answering in reverse, starting with his last question.
Moreover, earlier he said he would give me something, and at that time, I didn’t have an angel Halo above my head.
Before opening the protective seal of the Heavenly Father Altar, An Dao said he would give me something important, and at that time, I didn’t have a Halo.
He didn’t know I was an angel.
But now he says the Heavenly Father Altar fragment is to be handed over to an angel—isn’t that contradictory?” Kamiyu felt a chill run down her spine.
The only two explanations were that he was lying, or he knew she was an angel.
Yet he also said she was a Mortal and couldn’t touch the Halo.
Contradictory, bizarre.
Was this An Dao before her eyes truly human?
Jack noticed it too, having already drawn his Longsword and aimed it at An Dao.
Jack urgently said, “Something’s off, get out now.”
But the two priests beside them continued to worship her, paying no attention to Jack.
“What the hell, what’s going on? Did we enter the wrong church? Or is the Holy Light Cathedral actually an Instance Dungeon, one with illusions?” Kamiyu said.
“Wait, Lord Angel, please rest assured.” An Dao changed his address from Lord Beta Tester to Lord Angel.
Even the form of address had changed. She only now noticed that many eerie changes had occurred since she stepped into the Heavenly Father Altar.
Eerie, extremely eerie.
Could this be some kind of “sitting X path” nonsense? She wasn’t good at puzzle games.
She immediately used the appraisal function granted by her Beta Tester Title.
“Appraise,” she shouted, then pulled out the Demon-Repelling Holy Flame from her spatial backpack and aimed it at An Dao.
【Appraisal Result: Level 50】
“What the hell, Level 50 Max Level?” Kamiyu widened her eyes.
“And you still say you’re not a Dungeon Boss?” she exclaimed exaggeratedly.
Jack prepared to rush into the circle.
“Wait,” An Dao raised his palm.
Just as Kamiyu was about to pull the trigger.
The text of the appraisal result continued to appear:
【Player ID: An Dao; Class: Priest; Camp: Human】
“Huh? Are you messing with me? You’re human.” Kamiyu widened her eyes.
At that moment, Priest An Dao let out a long sigh and said, “Lord Angel, don’t be impulsive. I am human, not your enemy.”
Kamiyu lowered the gun barrel.
Jack also stopped.
But the next second.
“Click,” the sound of a gun being cocked.
“Whatever, you’re Level 50, and I’m only Level 17. Might as well take a shot first.” Kamiyu raised her hand and fired.
“Bang,” the sound of a gunshot.
Faster than lightning, no one had time to react. Even Jack was fooled, staring wide-eyed at Kamiyu.
“Damn, this little pink melon even fooled me,” Jack laughed self-deprecatingly.
He had already activated his Golden Body and Thorns Reflection, ready to rush within five meters to rescue Kamiyu.
Suddenly, a booming, resonant sound echoed from all directions of the cathedral.
“Ha, I told you you were a Dungeon Boss,” Kamiyu prepared to throw a flashbang and run.
Facing a Level 50 opponent at Level 17, how could she possibly fight?
Just as she was about to throw the flashbang, Kamiyu suddenly realized that everything around her had fallen into stillness. Everyone except herself was frozen in place.
Priest An Dao wore an expression of astonishment, while Jack had a resolute, fearless look on his face, poised to rush in and save her. The two other priests remained lying on the ground.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a shower of white-gold, glowing feathers descending from above. Behind her, white-gold wings appeared on the statue of the Heavenly Father.

Not gonna lie she makes a stupid decision here, you’re facing a level 50 player which could negated or evade the gunshots, even if not. With how he has said he’s a veteran even more than the first batch, surely he got defense items. Nontheless thanks for the chapter
