Chapter 151: Grandfather and Granddaughter
Chapter 151: Grandfather and Granddaughter
“Reconciliation is out of the question. Prepare to die.” Kamiyu raised an eyebrow at Jack.
Clang!
Jack gripped the black Dragon Slayer Broadsword with both hands, lifting it forcefully and severing Lei Yao’s hand in one swift motion. Blood sprayed everywhere as Lei Yao fell to his knees.
“Take his sword!” Kamiyu shouted.
Jack pulled the Doombringer from his own body.
The scrape-scrape sound of metal against flesh and blood sent a shiver down Kamiyu’s spine.
“Hey, hey, don’t make it so gruesome. Just store it in your inventory,” Kamiyu quickly turned her head away.
Players on the city wall gasped in astonishment.
“This Beta Tester is insane!”
“Listen, everyone, I need to say something. Due to certain circumstances, I kept something from you all before. Actually…” Li Changde seized the opportunity to clarify Kamiyu and Jack’s true identities.
“So that’s how it is. President Li, what a clever plan,” one player praised.
“Lady Kamiyu, the Saintess, had no choice but to conceal her identity. Now that the strongest enemy has been defeated, there’s nothing left to fear,” another player reasoned.
Mephisto, kneeling on the ground with one hand clutching his severed arm, saw the hatred burning in Jack’s eyes and allowed a faint, triumphant smile to curl at the corners of his lips.
“If you like this sword, I’ll give it to you—as long as you, all of you, spare me.”
“Tch, ‘give it to us’? It’s our spoils of war. If we kill you, won’t this sword belong to us anyway?” Kamiyu stared coldly at the kneeling Mephisto.
“My dear granddaughter, if you spare me, I have more gifts for you,” Mephisto said.
“Hey, hey, don’t go claiming family ties. Who’s your granddaughter?” Kamiyu frowned deeply.
She wondered if Mephisto had been hit in the head by one of her Skills.
“What are they saying? Why can’t we hear them?” The people on the city wall could only see their mouths moving but heard no sound.
“Anyone here know lip-reading?” another player asked.
Mephisto sighed. “That boy Inarius never told you, did he?”
“Told me what? I’m not that close to him,” Kamiyu shrugged.
“Why are you looking at me? Hurry up and stop the bleeding.” Kamiyu tossed a Large Health Potion to Jack.
Jack caught the potion and gulped it down glug-glug.
But his eyes remained fixed warily on Mephisto.
Mephisto chuckled. “Not that close? That’s the funniest joke I’ve heard in all my years. I wonder what expression that boy Inarius would make if he heard it.”
“My dear granddaughter, let me tell you a secret. Heavenly Father Inarius secretly united with my daughter Lilith. My daughter Lilith gave birth to humanity and created a beautiful homeland for them—right here.
The Crimson Earth was originally called the Sanctuary. Later, that boy Inarius, in his desire to return to Heaven, abandoned my daughter and conspired with other Demon Kings, turning this once peaceful sanctuary into the desolate Crimson Earth.
And my daughter… she was killed and turned to stone—the very Lilith statue you ‘Players’ pursue.”
After hearing this, Jack stared at Mephisto in disbelief, as if listening to a bizarre tale.
Kamiyu wore the same expression. “Ha, what are you talking about? You’ve been rambling on and on—an angel and a demon got married and gave birth to humans. Then, as a husband, the angel betrayed his wife to return to heaven, teaming up with the Demon King to kill their child?”
“I’d say that’s the biggest joke I’ve heard in all my years. I don’t think you just love to laugh; you also love to talk nonsense,” Kamiyu said with a laugh.
“You’ve said so much, but it’s all your family’s messy business. What does it have to do with me? Besides, I’m from Planet X, not your granddaughter,” Kamiyu stated.
“Hehehehe, hahahaha, that may not be the case,” Mephisto said mysteriously.
“Enough nonsense. Jack, don’t fall for his tricks.” Kamiyu raised the Demon-Repelling Holy Flame, aiming to blow Lei Yao’s head off with a single shot.
“Hehehehe, demons are immortal. Besides, I’m already dead. You can’t kill a Demon King who’s already dead,” Mephisto said.
“Why do you speak so abstractly and contradict yourself?” Kamiyu was utterly exasperated.
Mephisto showed no fear of Kamiyu’s gun barrel. Instead, he felt somewhat excited, having grown tired of Lei Yao, this useless chess piece.
He had discovered a more suitable apostle of hatred—one whose eyes were filled with loathing, desperately concealing inner desires and rage. That person was Jack.
Mephisto thought to himself, the seed of hatred had already been planted by his side. Sooner or later, it would take root and sprout.
Lei Yao’s life or death no longer mattered.
“Prepare to die.” Kamiyu was about to pull the trigger.
“Wait!” A woman dressed in black-gray military uniform suddenly appeared and shouted.
“You say wait, and I wait? I won’t wait. I’m determined to kill him.” Kamiyu knew this person had come to bargain for his life, but she kept her finger on the trigger, waiting for the other side to make an offer.
“Please, Miss Kamiyu, spare Lei Yao’s life. We can pay any price,” Ye Feixuan said as she approached.
“Hey, don’t come any closer. Take one more step, and I’ll blow his head off,” Kamiyu warned.
“Besides, what if you pay the price today, then come after us again once you’ve recovered? It’s common knowledge that you Official Players can’t be trusted. I’m not that foolish,” Kamiyu said, staring into Ye Feixuan’s eyes.
Ye Feixuan halted both her steps and her words.
“See? I was right,” Kamiyu said, wearing a smug expression as if she had seen through everything.
Kneeling on the ground, Mephisto curled the corners of his lips, thinking smugly to himself, “This woman is no match for my granddaughter. She can’t fool her because my granddaughter’s schemes are even more cunning than mine.”
“I’m not lying to you. We can give you both of our Sanctuaries,” Ye Feixuan tried to salvage the situation.
Mephisto chuckled. Both? One of them is currently in my stomach. What are you going to give my granddaughter?
Should I remind her?
Forget it. Better not. Let’s just watch the show.
Kamiyu hesitated. Lei Yao had two Sanctuaries, and she could currently exchange for one, making three in total. This would be crucial for capturing the Main City of Serega, as well as for pioneering and defense.
“Damn it, I’m actually tempted. What should I do?”
But how could she possibly let the tiger return to the mountains? This Lei Yao had to die.
After a moment of thought, Kamiyu placed her finger back on the trigger.
“Now!” Ye Feixuan said.
A Teleportation Array suddenly appeared beneath Ye Feixuan’s feet.
“It’s you, Disciple of Suffering,” Mephisto stood up, drawing another Weapon and aiming it at An Dao.
Kamiyu immediately pointed her gun at An Dao.
She glanced sideways at Mephisto next to her—good grief, you’ve been acting all this time, turns out you were completely fine.
