Chapter 167: All Too Familiar
Chapter 167: All Too Familiar
Seeing the barbed wire and burning car barricades, Jack was all too familiar with this scene—a group of vicious thugs blocking the only exit, trapping people in hell.
From a distance, Kamiyu spotted a group of people holding spears, roasting something unknown over a fire.
Now, these rowdy Ability Users approached, intending to seize Kamiyu’s Humvee. This time, she saw it clearly. She said angrily, “These scum are actually roasting people to eat.”
As the Ability Users drew closer, they got a clear look at the people inside the vehicle.
“Look, there are women.”
“Offer the vehicle to Tiger Lord, but don’t give away the women.”
“People are the essence of evolution. This time, let’s have some proper fun with them. Don’t kill them too quickly.”
“After eating so many, I’ve finally figured it out—the more these sheep suffer and struggle, the more flavorful they become when we eat them, and the faster we evolve.”
“No, I have to get out and kill them.” Kamiyu prepared to open the roof hatch and gun them down.
“Wait.” Jack pressed Kamiyu’s hand down.
“What? You’re not thinking of letting them go, are you?” Kamiyu felt Jack’s hand trembling.
“How could I let them off so easily?” Jack had experienced hell ten years ago.
The fall of Seriga City led to the Nora nuclear power plant accident, indirectly triggering the subsequent war. Jack’s entire family died in that war, and his sister, Winnie, also fell victim to the thugs’ brutality.
Kamiyu sensed Jack’s overwhelming hatred, resentment, and boundless rage nurturing the Doombringer within him.
She said, “Do what you must. I support you.”
With that, Jack, like an unchained hellhound, slammed on the accelerator. The diesel engine unleashed immense torque, instantly dragging the three Ability Users in front of the Humvee under its wheels, crushing their lumbar spines and thigh bones to pieces.
The several-ton vehicle pressed out the internal organs of the three men, like crushed strawberry lava cakes oozing their fillings.
“It’s an enemy, kill them!”
Kamiyu wondered if these Ability Users had any intelligence at all. This was clearly a military vehicle. Why didn’t they attack immediately? Instead, they tried to seize the vehicle and foolishly stood in front of it, cosplaying as Old Geezers faking accidents.
“Watch my Fireball Spell!” one Ability User shouted loudly, charging into the fire, igniting himself, and then rushing toward the Humvee as a human torch.
“Wow, that’s so abstract! Are these Ability Users out of their minds?” Kamiyu widened her eyes. She had thought the Fireball Spell was like the kind in Crimson Earth—a magical Skill that could kill a whole group of Aberrant Beast Demons with a single ball.
She never expected it to involve turning oneself into a fireball and having to run toward the enemy.
The question was, wasn’t he afraid of dying? Would he burn to death while running? Kamiyu wondered.
“Jack, stop. Let them attack the vehicle’s armor. Prepare to counterattack.” She wanted to test the vehicle’s Defense Power.
The Humvee was armored with two layers of Level 35 water snake scales, giving it such high Defense Power that it could even withstand one of her basic attacks.
“Hahaha, brothers, the driver’s scared stupid. He doesn’t know how to drive,” another Ability User shouted loudly.
Boom!
The human torch crashed into the side of the vehicle. Nothing happened—well, the vehicle was completely unharmed. Instead, the human torch suffocated from the flames and collapsed to the ground.
“Unbelievable, what a waste of time. Jack, go.” Jack reversed the car and ended the fight.
“What? The Fireball Spell actually had no effect? In the city, we can blow up even the Armed Police Unit’s armored vehicles with a single hit.”
“Brothers, use the spears made from the Fear Emperor Divine Tree branches. Divine Tree spears can pierce through anything.”
“Divine power possessed, Fear Emperor bless us.”
“Divine power possessed, Fear Emperor bless us.”
The four men holding spears kept jumping around, swinging their fists and feet, their faces flushed red, muttering words under their breath.
Kamiyu’s mouth hung open. Were these people here to be funny? Their expressions and movements felt exactly like those villain characters from a certain martial arts action movie in the mysterious ancient country of the neighboring continent.
“They’re playing at being invulnerable to swords and spears. Let’s see if they’re really invulnerable in a moment.” Kamiyu tightened her grip on the Demon-Repelling Holy Flame.
When she saw these people roasting humans for fun, she had already put the Sound of Chaos Barrett back into her backpack and taken out this shotgun with its innate fire attribute.
After these senior brothers finished singing, dancing, and rapping, they picked up their so-called Divine Tree spears and charged from two directions like wild boars.
Jack felt that if he stepped on the accelerator to Speed Up, these people wouldn’t be able to stop in time and would end up stabbing each other.
He suddenly felt deep regret about venting his anger on these people. It wasn’t that their actions weren’t despicable enough, but rather that these Ability Users’ thought processes were too “special.”
“Fear Emperor grant me Strength, the spear pierces all.” The four Ability Users shouted as they charged.
“Thud.” Four sounds.
Kamiyu had even been cautious enough to stand in the middle to avoid being pierced by spears that might penetrate the vehicle body, specifically positioning herself under the roof.
She had definitely overthought and worried too much.
Her exquisite scale Armor was already High Level gear, and since it was crafted using the 【Triple Attributes】 Recipe, its attributes were comparable to the Defense Power of a Max Level Aberrant Beast.
These four spears weren’t even sharp enough to be used for scratching an itch.
After the four “thuds,” the four spears instantly shattered. The exploded wooden spikes pierced the hands of all four men like needles.
“What? Even the Divine Tree spears were destroyed? Who exactly are these people?”
“Impossible. We’re already the highest Level Ability Users in Dragon Roar City. These sorcerers must be using dark magic to deceive us. This is an illusion, everyone don’t be afraid.”
“That’s right, it’s fake, an illusion.”
“These idiots don’t even know about Players, truly frogs at the bottom of a well.” Kamiyu laughed.
“This proves that the Player Power Faction in Dragon Roar City isn’t strong, almost non-existent, which is why they don’t know.” Jack analyzed.
“Makes sense. Now we don’t have to worry about the Black Sphere being snatched away.” Kamiyu said with relief.
“My turn now, are you still angry?” Kamiyu asked.
“I don’t get angry at trash.”
“Hahaha, you’re really funny. I want to see if killing these people gives Enhancement Points.” Kamiyu opened the roof hatch and leaned out.
“It’s a bit high. Do you have a stool in the car?” Kamiyu said awkwardly.
Jack laid a fuel barrel on its side for her to step on.
“Whoa, it’s a beauty.”
“I want her.”
Kamiyu frowned deeply. Were these people’s brains really that messed up? Just moments ago they were in a life-or-death situation, and now they’re getting horny?
“These people are beyond saving.”
“Those controlled by desire are like this—this is the danger of the Fear Emperor,” Mephisto interjected.
Bang.
A golden stream of light erupted from the Demon-Repelling Holy Flame.
One Ability User who was hit instantly turned into a human torch.
“You enjoy roasting people so much, huh? I’ll roast you right now and let you taste the same flavor.”
“Ahhhhh!” The person writhed in agony on the ground.
Fire overcomes wood—fire attributes heavily counter Wood Element enemies.
Kamiyu deliberately aimed for the lower body, letting the person burn for over three minutes before finally dying.
【Ding, congratulations on obtaining 1 Enhancement Point.】
“Huh? Killing an Ability User also grants Enhancement Points? Not bad, not bad. Looks like I can strengthen myself again,” Kamiyu thought with pleasant surprise.
