Chapter 168: Entering the City

Chapter 168: Entering the City

“Ding, obtained Enhancement Point: 1 point.” A crisp, pleasant sound came from the Player Panel.

Kamiyu curled the corners of her mouth into a slight smile, thinking that it had been less than eight hours since the Aberrant Beast Demons invaded. These mutated Ability Users were like newborns, not yet fully grown, which was why they were so easy to kill.

So, she couldn’t be like those villains, giving them enough time to grow. She had to nip these unstable elements in the bud, and moreover, eradicate them completely, leaving none behind.

The remaining few Ability Users, seeing their companion burned to death by a single shot, were so terrified that they dropped their spears, turned their backs to Kamiyu, and scattered like minions.

Kamiyu widened her eyes and said, “Daring to turn your back on a pro player—you really have a death wish.”

With a “click,” Kamiyu reloaded the Demon-Repelling Holy Flame with Magic Bullets.

“Pong.”

“Gwah!” One minion turned into a human torch.

“Drop.”

“Pong.”

“Brother Sun, I’m on fire!” Another minion rolled around in the flames.

“You really are a Longming.”

“Headshot.”

“Pong.”

“Horizontal shot.”

“Pong.” *2

“I’ll shoot you mid-air.”

With just five simple shots, the remaining five minion Ability Users were sent to Hell.

“Ding, obtained Enhancement Point: 1 point.” *5

The Doombringer in Jack’s hand kept flashing incessantly, seemingly absorbing the hatred of the Ability Users to restore its Durability.

Mephisto inside the sword said, “What an interesting Staff. No incantation required—did you make this?”

“And this magic of yours is particularly cruel. It doesn’t kill the target immediately but slowly burns them to death. Hehe, it even lets me absorb extra Hatred Power.”

“Impressive, right? With this, maybe I can burn the entire Fear Emperor Tree to charcoal.” Kamiyu even twirled the gun with a flourish.

Speaking of Hatred Power, Kamiyu immediately recalled that the Heavenly Father Altar fragment, the Octahedral Crystal, also had the ability to absorb Hatred Power and then convert it into energy to generate Sacred Power for her.

She couldn’t forget the platinum wings and the Halo above her head.

She took out the Octahedral Crystal from her backpack again, hung it around her neck, got into the car, and said to Mephisto, “Don’t steal my Hatred Power, got it?”

As she spoke, she patted the “head” of the Doombringer—that is, the hilt.

Jack said, “Talking to a sword like that makes you seem like a lunatic.”

“Hehehehe.” The Doombringer immediately vibrated, very much agreeing with Jack’s words.

“Hmph.” Kamiyu turned her head away, ignoring the two of them.

Jack relaxed a bit, stomped on the accelerator, and the armored Hummer crashed through the makeshift barricade, charging into Dragon Roar City.

Inside the city, the Fear Emperor Tree had already engulfed the entire metropolis. Its branches and trunk were thicker than skyscrapers, with limbs drooping down like a banyan tree, piercing into the ground.

The leaves blotted out the sky, with only faint strands of sunlight dripping through the dense foliage, offering a slim hope to this vast forested city.

In the distance, several Ability Users dressed bizarrely, their faces smeared with mysterious symbols in blood, stood on a branch of the Fear Emperor Tree thicker than a tanker truck.

“Who dares to be so bold as to charge into Dragon Roar City?” said an Ability User with a “three” symbol carved on his forehead.

“A single car dares to charge into our territory, truly seeking death without knowing where to look.” An Ability User with a “two” symbol carved on his head said disdainfully.

“The ones guarding the gate were Ah Wang and his crew. They’re not weak. Could the people in this car be allies of those so-called ‘Players’ holding out in the city center?” another Ability User asked.

“Players? Just trash, nothing more than playthings we slaughter. Could crush them underfoot.” A bald Ability User, clad in a “woven” garment made of fresh human vertebrae, said fiercely.

“That’s right. Thanks to the Divine Tree descending upon Dragon Roar City, we’ve become the most advanced place in the entire Bopomo Kingdom. Our city has thousands of Ability Users.”

“At most, there are just a few rotten fish and shrimps in that car. Can’t we, thousands strong, handle one vehicle?”

“Brother Hu, let’s go meet this car.” The Ability User with the “two” character carved on his forehead said to the bald Ability User.

“Kaff~ Ptooey.” Bald Tiger spat a thick glob of phlegm fiercely.

In the car were two people and one Demon King: one possessed the strongest Defense Power, one had extremely high burst DPS, and the other had endless Sneaky schemes. They also possessed two of the only two Dark Gold Weapons in the entire Crimson Earth.

Couldn’t win?

They would win.

Jack carefully drove towards the downtown apartment building where the Black Sphere was located. Fortunately, they had brought an off-road vehicle; the roads here were all upheaved by tree roots, becoming extremely difficult to traverse.

Jack noticed Kamiyu’s face was pale, and she occasionally clutched her stomach and lower abdomen. He said, “Hey, don’t throw up in the car. There are vomit bags in the drawer.”

“Who… who’s going to throw up?” Kamiyu immediately took out a Mind-Steadying Potion from her backpack space.

“Tsk tsk tsk, using a top-tier Spirit recovery potion to stop nausea, truly extravagant.” The sword blade vibrated as Mephisto spoke.

“Can you control me? I have plenty of potions. I could even bathe in them.” Kamiyu gulped down a large mouthful and instantly felt much better.

Screech~ Screech~ of sudden braking.

Thud.

Kamiyu, caught off guard, bumped her forehead against the front seat, and the empty bottle in her hand fell into the car cabin.

“Can you even drive?” Kamiyu rubbed her reddened forehead, showing a pained expression.

“Someone’s coming.” Jack said warily.

“Heh heh heh heh, stop pretending. When my Water-Calling Sword Style was pummeling you before, you didn’t make a single sound.” Mephisto saw through her act.

“Where is your mouth? I’m going to tape it shut.” Kamiyu said.

“I’ll go meet them. You stay in the car.” With that, Jack opened the car door, took his sword, and got out.

“Don’t leave me behind.” Kamiyu said, still rubbing her forehead.

Hearing these words, Jack’s heart gave a thud, and his body froze for a second. The effect of this sentence was more powerful than a Boss Creature.

“I want to get out and play too.” Kamiyu also got out of the car.

Having experienced the strength of those Ability Users at the highway checkpoint, she realized the so-called Fear Emperor Tree and Ability Users weren’t all that frightening.

Two Ability Users: one a bald, burly man, the other a scrawny monkey.

How to anger Kamiyu with one sentence?

“Hey, Tiger, their style is the same as ours.” The scrawny monkey’s eyes gleamed as he drooled while looking at Kamiyu.

“Who the hell is like you? You should take a good look at yourselves,” Kamiyu snapped, enraged, as she loaded a bullet with a sharp “click.”

“True enough. You trash players can’t even compare to us evolved human light—Ability Users,” the skinny guy sneered, baring his teeth.
