Chapter 169: Still an Insta-Kill

Chapter 169: Still an Insta-Kill

The four people on both sides stood facing each other.

“Ability Users are the next stage of human evolution? Did you read Darwin’s theory of evolution backward, little brother? Can you even read?” Kamiyu’s taunting skills were formidable. Back in the day, she was an “Enter” key warrior, capable of firing off five insults per second.

Kamiyu was mocking the skinny monkey-like man. Reading from right to left, humans would devolve into monkeys. She was comparing him to the ape in the illustrations of evolutionary theory.

“Squeak! You’re asking for death!” The skinny monkey was so enraged by Kamiyu’s verbal attack that smoke seemed to rise from his seven orifices. Like accidentally hitting the spacebar, he suddenly jumped up.

“You piss me off! I’m going to eat you alive!” The skinny monkey charged fiercely toward Kamiyu.

Kamiyu noticed that this man’s arms were unusually long—longer than his entire height—and his five fingers had turned into sharp claws. His whole body resembled that of an ape.

Just as Kamiyu aimed her Demon-Repelling Holy Flame at the skinny monkey, Jack stopped her: “Save your bullets. I’ll handle the trash.”

“You dare call me trash? You’re looking for death!” The skinny monkey changed his target and charged at Jack.

Jack thrust his sword forward.

Piercing Strike.

“Hey, that’s not how you use a Doombringer,” Mephisto communicated telepathically with Jack.

The skinny monkey was too fast. He easily dodged this insignificant attack.

“Is that all?” the skinny monkey said disdainfully.

Brother Hu, who was watching from the side, had initially thought Jack—dressed head-to-toe in black armor with an indifferent expression—was a master. He had been cautiously guarding against Jack’s sword.

“Trash. You don’t even know how to use a sword,” Brother Hu spat a thick glob of phlegm.

The skinny monkey leaped lightly, soaring over Jack, who stood over two meters tall. Mid-air, he twisted his body, his long arm directly grabbing for Jack’s head.

“Got it! I’ve never eaten a Player’s head before.” The moment the skinny monkey’s hand touched Jack’s head, a triumphant joy flashed across his face.

Kamiyu showed no trace of panic. Instead, she played with her fingers, calculating something in her mind.

Jack silently muttered a phrase: “Thorns Reflection.”

In the next moment, five bloody claw marks appeared out of thin air on the skinny monkey’s head, deep enough to reveal bone.

A “pop!” sound of something bursting.

Blood exploded everywhere, scattering like a rain of blood. The skinny monkey fell straight to the ground, unconscious.

“What happened?” Bald Tiger’s eyes widened. “A Second-Tier Ability User, just like that, severely injured and collapsed?”

Bald Tiger was utterly shocked inside: “I didn’t see this guy move at all. He just swung his sword forward. No other movements, no dodging, no turning his head. What exactly happened?”

Bald Tiger speculated: “Could it be that this big guy who looks like a bodyguard’s subordinate is actually the real master, and that little one is just an assistant?”

“Crap, I fell for it. Their positioning tricked me into thinking the big guy was the bodyguard.”

Bald Tiger struggled internally: “What do I do? What now? Call for backup? But I’ll be looked down upon by others. I, a dignified Third-Tier Ability User, chickening out before even fighting?”

“Yo-ho, beautiful! Having a big T Tank by your side really makes a difference.” Kamiyu walked up to the skinny monkey, pulled out the most ordinary small pistol from her spatial backpack, and ended the skinny monkey’s life with a single shot.

“Ding, obtained Enhancement Point: 1 point.” A crisp, pleasant sound came from the Player Panel.

Another Enhancement Point, so weak, really so weak, even common bullets could kill them. These people were bragging way too much, calling themselves Ability Users.

The Doombringer and the octahedral crystal had both absorbed Hatred Power, making Kamiyu and Jack a bit stronger.

“Huh, don’t you drop any equipment?” Kamiyu noticed the corpses didn’t turn into blue light, nor did they leave any dropped items.

She had initially thought these people were just pretending to be Ability Users to deceive others, but the skinny guy’s physique and jumping ability clearly indicated he was an Ability User. Yet after killing him, he didn’t drop an “Ash Box” like a Player would.

“Whatever, these cannibalistic trash are even poorer than beggars. I’m afraid of catching a virus just from looting them.” Kamiyu kept her distance.

Back on the battlefield.

Jack saw that the so-called Ability Users were nothing more than garbage, not even worthy opponents. Their attacks hurt less than those of a Level 10 trash mob.

Now he felt that waiting for cooldowns was a waste of time, so he pointed a finger at the bald man covered in spinal bones.

“Come and die.” Jack said, looking up with an extremely arrogant and show-off attitude.

“Wow, so cool?” Kamiyu looked at Jack’s tall figure, clad in black armor, holding a sword in his right hand, and striking that arrogant, cold pose with his head held high. It gave her such a thrill, she almost had stars in her eyes.

Insult, an extreme insult. A Third-Tier Ability User was among the top ranks of thousands of Ability Users, equivalent to a centurion in rank, commanding a hundred-man team.

A centurion, insulted like this by Jack—even if Bald Tiger was scared, he couldn’t tolerate it.

Bald Tiger took off the two whips “woven” from spinal bones behind him and said, “Ability Users are the light of human evolution. Let me show you our true strength, you backward race already discarded by the Divine Tree.”

The big T Tank was fearless. Jack still held back, waiting for his opponent to charge.

A continuous “rip-crack” sound echoed as the whip wrapped around the Doombringer.

Bald Tiger thought to himself, it must be his sword. Earlier, with just one swing of his sword, the skinny guy’s head exploded. As long as I don’t let him swing his sword, I’ll be fine.

Electric shock.

A “zizzizzizz” sound of electricity discharging filled the air.

“Wow, it really is a tiger.” Kamiyu widened her eyes.

Jack glanced back and shook his head at Kamiyu.

“An opening!” Bald Tiger charged forward, pulling out a bone club and smashing it hard against Jack.

Bald Tiger was a strength-type Ability User, capable of shattering a main battle tank with a single punch.

He charged up a punch and swung it at Jack’s armor.

A “boom” echoed.

The intense shockwave shook the surrounding tree branches and leaves, creating a rustling sound.

“Nothing?” Bald Tiger saw Jack standing as steady as Mount Tai, looking down at him.

“Do you think my work is some cheap street goods?” Kamiyu wiped her nose.

The armor Jack was wearing was Ancestral Legendary Armor she had personally remade—the Black-Scaled Snake Armor, with triple attributes.

Its affix had also been upgraded to a passive skill: 【Passive Skill: Berserker. When blood adheres to the armor’s outer surface, Defense Power increases by 1500%, while the armor evaporates 2% of the adhered blood per second.】

Even if just one drop of blood stuck to it, it would take 50 seconds to disappear. In other words, as long as the armor had blood on it, it would have 15 times the defense for 50 seconds.

Jack indicated he’d just stand there and let Bald Tiger hit him all he wanted.

The shower of blood from his head just now had triggered Jack’s Berserker passive.

And now, “Look, your fist just extended my Invincibility Window.” Jack stared at Bald Tiger’s right hand.

The massive recoil had completely shattered his right hand, blood pooling on the ground.

So Jack’s earlier head shake was a signal to Kamiyu—don’t intervene, this man would destroy himself on his own.
