Chapter 71: Goodwill

Chapter 71: Goodwill

The Veteran Player watched as Kamiyu walked back to the Main City completely unscathed, even humming a cheerful tune.

His jaw dropped in astonishment as he asked, “You actually didn’t die?”

Kamiyu retorted with annoyance, “Why would I die?”

Several Veteran Players and the Newcomer Players who had been gathered around buying Potions all came over to watch.

The Veteran Player selling Potions asked, “Didn’t you encounter any Official Players in the Wilderness Zone? They didn’t give you trouble? That’s impossible—they have special tracking items.”

Kamiyu blinked, suddenly remembering a few things she needed to confirm, and turned to walk toward the City Gate.

Kamiyu didn’t know that the Official Players had already received orders not to trouble her before General Lei Yao had cleared the Instance Dungeon.

She didn’t know that her outfit had already been recognized by the Official Players.

But what did it matter whether she knew or not? Come what may, with her solid strength in hand, she feared nothing. The recent Team Fight had shown that the so-called Official Players were nothing but a bunch of lackeys—walking Enhancement Points. She wouldn’t mind killing a few more.

As Kamiyu walked toward the City Gate, the two Official Players guarding it wanted to flee.

She chuckled softly, took a light leap, and confidently strode up to the two new Official Players who were still collecting tolls at the gate. “Where are the two from before?” she asked.

Those two couldn’t leave, trembling as they stood in place.

Kamiyu’s words were a provocation—a serious one—showing no regard for the authorities.

Of course, these two had received the latest orders. They pretended not to see Kamiyu, nor hear her question, treating her as if she were air—non-existent.

It was a forced calm, a desperate attempt to pretend they couldn’t see Kamiyu.

“Hey, I’m talking to you,” Kamiyu said, placing her hand on one of their shoulders.

The Official Player immediately shrank back, his face twisting in extreme fear, as if that pat were a bone-melting palm strike capable of instantly defeating him.

“Heh, quite sensible, aren’t you?” Kamiyu mused after this round of probing. She realized that the Official Players must have learned of her existence through some means.

These two could recognize her beneath the Cloak and mask.

But judging by their attitude, they were afraid of her and unwilling to engage, likely under some special order.

This put her mind at ease.

The Newcomer and Veteran Players nearby watched as these two Official Players, who had just been arrogantly collecting tolls from newcomers, now cowered at the sight of Kamiyu as if she were a harbinger of death.

One by one, they wore expressions of shock.

“What? The Official Players who were just acting so high and mighty are now cowering like beaten dogs at the sight of this newcomer?” a Veteran Player exclaimed, his mouth agape.

“Wow, who was it that advised us not to latch onto her? Step forward now,” said the Newcomer Player who had earlier wanted to Form Team with Kamiyu, his voice filled with resentment.

The Rogue Veteran Player who had earlier made teasing remarks, seeing how the Official Players treated Kamiyu, decided to spend a hefty Price to take refuge in another Beta Tester’s Sanctuary and lay low for a while.

After enjoying the scene, Kamiyu leaned in and whispered to the two Official Players, “I’ll remember you. If you dare expose my identity, you know very well what will happen.”

Don’t think only official players dare to openly threaten others; Kamiyu also knows this cost-free trick.

The two men nodded repeatedly in fear—they were just hired workers, not selling their lives for the officials, so why put in so much effort?

This was Crimson Earth, not the real world. Only one’s own interests truly belonged to oneself.

Kamiyu walked back to the central fountain in the Main City. The trading at the stalls remained bustling, with a steady stream of people.

Seeing that a longsword had been sold in her Trading Post space and she had gained a large batch of materials, she said excitedly, “How delightful—so many people working for me.”

Only six weapons remained. The fewer left, the hotter the trading became. Guild, Squad, and Club stall owners were all scrambling to buy materials from solo and Lone Wolf players.

The assault teams and First and Second-Tier Teams of these player organizations were racing against time, grinding dungeons and farming materials, competing with other organizations.

It was a contest to see who had the strength to buy the remaining six weapons.

With fewer than two thousand players, and those in business having very sharp ears, news traveled fast.

As soon as the Invincible Guild stall owner saw Kamiyu approaching, he warmly greeted her, “The official players didn’t give you trouble, did they? I wanted to remind you earlier that there were official players at the gate.”

The Invincible Guild stall owner had already guessed Kamiyu’s identity earlier. After the commotion at the Main City gate just now, he was now certain that the girl before him was the 13th Beta Tester, one of the thirteen Big Shots—Kamiyu.

Seeing that Kamiyu was still wearing her cloak and mask, the stall owner, being savvy in business and social etiquette, immediately understood that she didn’t want to reveal herself. He didn’t expose her identity or broadcast it loudly.

Kamiyu blinked, seeming to understand something as well.

But she also didn’t ask the stall owner about it. Everyone went about their business as usual, with an unspoken understanding—you sell yours, I buy mine.

Though he didn’t expose her identity, respect had to be shown in full. The Invincible Guild stall owner politely said, “Hello, Big Shot. What do you need?”

Kamiyu raised her eyebrows. This person indeed knew her identity. But knowing was knowing—it didn’t mean much.

After all, the longer she stayed in Crimson Earth, the sooner her identity would inevitably become public.

Kamiyu didn’t beat around the bush either. She said, “I need a map, one that details the terrain of the Wilderness Zone.”

The stall owner replied, “No problem. Our Invincible Guild is a First Echelon Guild, and our maps are guaranteed to be accurate. Big Shot, you don’t need to pay—just take it.”

Kamiyu made an “oh” sound and asked curiously, “Are there nuances to maps too?”

She took the physical map but tossed the stall owner a virtual coin worth 1,000.

She wasn’t used to taking things for free—taking from others meant owing them.

The stall owner put away his little schemes and chuckled awkwardly, “Big Shot, you might not know this, but maps are strategic resources. They’re only distributed to those who join organizations like Guilds, Squads, or Clubs.”

“Moreover, every organization’s map is different. Some lower-level Squads have a smaller exploration range, and some dangerous areas aren’t marked.”

“Or, some special mob grinding spots aren’t marked on the map either—only a select few know about them.”

Kamiyu nodded and said, “I see.”

Thinking to herself, this map was only for general reference; the detailed parts still needed to be explored personally.

She then asked, “With so many empty houses in the Main City, can everyone just move in freely?”

“What I mean is, are there any hidden places that won’t be discovered by others?”

She wanted no one to disturb her while crafting equipment.

The stall owner pondered. Since the Big Shot was asking this, she must have something secretive to do, and of course, he shouldn’t overstep by inquiring further.

He was thinking about how to cooperate with Kamiyu, how to both help her and benefit the Guild.

After a moment of thought, he answered earnestly and truthfully, “The Main City doesn’t forbid Players from harming each other, so when people need a safe, private space, they have two options.”

“First, go to the Sanctuary. The Beta Tester Bosses are the absolute Masters of the Sanctuary and can set rules to prohibit mutual Attacks.”

“Second, within the Main City, head to the territories of Guilds, Squads, or Clubs.”

“Both require paying a certain fee. If you need it, Big Shot, we can provide you with the most suitable private space—absolutely no one will disturb you.”
