Chapter 70: Subduing the Enemy Without Fighting
Chapter 70: Subduing the Enemy Without Fighting
Kamiyu pretended nothing was wrong, humming a little tune as she casually cleaned up the battlefield, picking up the equipment and items scattered on the ground.
This was a real “game”—players only had one life. When a player died, their body naturally wouldn’t disappear, but a grayish-white “Ash Box” would appear, containing all of the player’s weapons, equipment, armor, items, and materials.
Kamiyu collected the boxes one by one into her Storage. She had an idea: to stack these boxes in front of the entrance to her Sanctuary.
Using a method similar to “building a mound of skulls,” she intended to warn those with ill intentions not to harbor evil thoughts or set their sights on her.
Otherwise, they would end up like the boxes.
Thick fog enveloped this bloody battlefield, and Kamiyu had indeed guessed correctly.
Within the fog were Official Players who had rushed to provide support.
Thirty fully-equipped Official Players stood outside the fog. A Level 15 Mage used a Skill to grant everyone vision, allowing them to see the situation inside the fog.
“Brother Dong, that person is the Wanted Criminal Kamiyu. We have numbers on our side—let’s charge in together, kill this Wanted Criminal, and claim the bounty,” one Official Player said.
The player referred to as Brother Dong had lost one eye and wore a black eyepatch. He whispered, “Are you insane? That person just killed someone with a single shot earlier. Are we going in there to die?”
“That Qian Hu, who’s now only half a body left, was a Level 18 Player wearing two pieces of Armor. Do you know what that means?” One-Eyed Dragon Brother Dong said seriously.
The underling couldn’t answer.
“That Wanted Criminal can penetrate two layers of stacked Armor with a single shot, meaning she can break through 200 Durability. That weapon is probably Legendary Tier, and she must have used a special Skill,” the Level 15 Mage responsible for providing vision said.
Unfortunately, this Mage was only half right. Kamiyu’s NTW-40 was a Legendary Weapon, but she hadn’t used any Skill, not even a Magic Bullet—it was just a normal basic attack.
One-Eyed Dragon Brother Dong swallowed nervously and said cautiously, “We can’t win. We’re no match for her. Every Beta Tester Player is a Top-Tier Powerhouse—not a single one is a Weakling.”
“No way, we have 30 people here with an average Level of 15. No matter how strong she is, she can’t possibly kill all of us at once,” the underling Player said eagerly.
If Kamiyu heard this, she would say, “Don’t even mention it—I actually can.”
Besides the NTW-40, she also had the Demon-Repelling Holy Flame—two gun-type Staves she was proficient with.
Not to mention the Staff of Cruelty, a super Staff perfect for Team Fights and one-versus-many situations.
The other twenty-plus veteran Official Players glared at this newbie Official Player.
On Crimson Earth, life was only given once. No one wanted to take risks, let alone risk their lives for a measly bounty on behalf of the officials.
One-Eyed Dragon Brother Dong kicked the guy and scolded angrily, “If you want to die, go die by yourself. Don’t drag us down with you.”
The newbie underling Player immediately fell silent.
“These days, the officials really don’t know what they’re doing, recruiting brainless fools like this.”
They relied on the officials to get by, picking on easy targets wherever they went. Actually risking their lives? For these scoundrels, that was something only idiots would do.
One-Eyed Dragon Brother Dong stared at Kamiyu in the thick fog, his brow furrowed. He turned to the group and said, “Today, we saw nothing, heard nothing. If anyone asks when we get back, just say we were held up by monsters on the way, and by the time we arrived, the person was already gone.”
The other veteran official players nodded in agreement, tacitly approving Captain Dong’s approach.
Work for the authorities? Only a fool would do that.
Everyone was out for themselves—who would truly sacrifice for the authorities or the greater good?
But one underling didn’t know his place and asked, “What about the wanted criminal, Kamiyu?”
One-Eyed Dragon Brother Dong slapped him hard and said fiercely, “I said we saw nothing. Did anyone here see Kamiyu?”
All twenty-something people shook their heads in unison. They didn’t even dare to speak together, fearing Kamiyu in the fog might hear them.
“Let me make this clear: don’t cause trouble for our squadron. From now on, whether you see her in the city, the Wilderness Zone, or an Instance Dungeon, act as if you didn’t see her and don’t know her. And if you do see her, take off your white armband immediately,” Brother Dong warned sternly.
“Besides, if the sky falls, let the tall ones hold it up. This Kamiyu—let General Lei Yao deal with her,” he added.
The newcomer player underling was so frightened he nodded repeatedly, though it was unclear whether he truly understood.
In short, if they saw Kamiyu, they were to pretend they hadn’t, and it was best to turn around and leave immediately.
And so, a squadron of thirty people was driven back by Kamiyu’s “overbearing aura.”
After this incident, the seasoned official players unofficially adopted a rule regarding Kamiyu: “Don’t see her, avoid her.”
By the river.
After more than ten minutes with no one showing up, Kamiyu thought she had been too cautious, too sensitive. There weren’t even any monsters around, so why would there be people?
She casually fired a finishing shot at the unconscious half of the Money Squad on the ground.
Ding, obtained 1 Enhancement Point.
【Level 10: 4965/100000】
Getting 10 Enhancement Points at once made Kamiyu feel it was truly wonderful, absolutely fantastic, invincibly great.
This Staff could be sold, and with 10 Enhancement Points, she could unlock more attribute-based Magic Bullets or even enhance her Sanctuary.
Kamiyu collected all the Spoils of War scattered on the ground and stored them in her Storage. This wasn’t the place to disassemble monster corpses, so she stashed the entire Black-Scaled Water Snake into her Storage.
Fortunately, during the Black Sphere Game reward stage earlier, she had allocated all her Level-up points to Storage capacity. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to carry all this.
Of course, Kamiyu hadn’t forgotten to collect herbs for making Potions. She planned to mass-sell them back in the city to speed up players’ Material Farming.
She gathered herbs along the riverbank: Howling Moss, Strangler Vine, Radaman Grass, and Withered Shadow Grass.
Once her Spirit recovered, she occasionally electrocuted fish to gain Experience and collect materials.
She wasn’t a dedicated Mage class, so her maximum Spirit was only 100. Each time she used the Skill of the Cruel Staff, it consumed 20 Spirit, requiring some time to recover.
While waiting for her Spirit to recover after electrocuting fish, she gathered herbs. Once recovered, she went back to electrocuting fish.
This way, she gained Experience, collected materials, and harvested herbs—truly a blissful cycle.
And so, Kamiyu continued picking, electrocuting, and making her way back to the Main City.
After recalling, she decided to find a safe place to make potions and sell them along with the spoils of war.
“So this river leads to the main city, no wonder those people didn’t get lost—they just followed the river. And here they were pretending to be mysterious experts,” Kamiyu grumbled inwardly.
At the city gate, the veteran player who had been promoting potions was still there.
Seeing Kamiyu standing before him completely unharmed, he wondered if he was seeing a ghost.
“You actually didn’t die?” the man asked, stunned.
“Why would I die?” Kamiyu answered his question with another question.
