Chapter 8: African Cannon

Chapter 8: African Cannon

Kamiyu did not know that Mohawk had lied about his Executioner class skill in the Black Sphere Room.

His Executioner skill was that for every person he killed, he would gain an extra life.

It was an utterly unreasonable skill, and when combined with his Mimicry talent, it practically made him the Dungeon Boss of this Deathmatch Game.

Kamiyu’s Enhancement Talent was clearly a late-game scaling type—weak in the early stages but becoming incredibly powerful once developed. Unfortunately, she had encountered a boss-level player right from the start.

Was it time to call “GG” already?

Kamiyu kept shooting at Mohawk with her gun, trying to figure out his “lag” time—in other words, his skill cooldown.

From Kamiyu’s perspective, the opponent seemed to have a one-second gap every 30 seconds. If she could hit him within that one second, Mohawk would experience a “lag” effect.

It was by exploiting this that Kamiyu managed to barely survive, constantly buying time.

Of course, she wasn’t foolish enough to only shoot during that one-second window—that would clearly reveal she had discovered his weakness and make him wary.

She also fired during Mohawk’s invincibility window, though the effect was minimal.

“You can’t escape. Just lie down and let me have my way with you, gahahahaha!” Mohawk roared with a sinister laugh.

Bang, bang, bang, bang. The response to his taunts was a series of bullets aimed at his head.

“It’s useless. Your attacks are ineffective against me.”

Kamiyu grew increasingly nervous, sweating profusely. Her forehead and palms were drenched in cold sweat, and she could barely hold her gun steady anymore.

Seeing Kamiyu’s hesitation, Mohawk shouted loudly, “Hahahaha, give up! You can’t even hold your gun properly anymore.”

This was tough. Extremely tough.

Kamiyu was facing the greatest crisis of her life. Her biggest mistake was underestimating the ugliness of human nature. She had tried to shake off Mohawk by taking the express train.

But she never expected the train conductor to skip the station.

She made up her mind: from now on, she would take control of her own destiny. She would no longer trust anyone.

Trusting others was equivalent to handing over her life to them.

What else could she do at this moment?

Both of her skills, 【Headshot Strike】 and 【Hold Breath】, had long since finished their cooldown and were ready to use. She also had 1 unused Enhancement Point.

Additionally, her Signature Sniper—the character’s innate African Cannon NTW-40—hadn’t been used yet.

She wasn’t sure how powerful this anti-materiel sniper rifle was or whether it had any special effects.

But this wasn’t the perfect opportunity to use it.

She decided to take a gamble: activate the skill 【Headshot Strike】, then hip-fire, stacking triple the power to see if she could instantly take down her opponent.

If even that didn’t work, she would truly have no choice but to call GG.

Just as she was about to do this…

The next subway train pulled into the platform. This conductor had also received a notification and showed no intention of stopping—this train was also going to skip the station.

Kamiyu decided to take a bold gamble. She threw a smoke grenade forward.

The train roared into the station without any sign of slowing down.

She stored her gun in her Storage, planted both feet firmly on the ground, pushed off with all her strength, and leaped toward the train’s roof.

She intended to grab onto the roof, cling to it, and escape this dangerous situation.

She didn’t know if it would work, but she had no choice but to take a gamble, hoping that this body’s attribute points could support her in making such a bold and extremely dangerous move.

Kamiyu leaped high into the air and actually managed to land on the roof of the train.

The intense physical force threatened to throw her off.

In a flash of inspiration, she instantly pulled a ceramic blade from her storage, stabbed a hole through the roof, and then swapped the ceramic blade for another gun from her storage.

The front half of the rifle, specifically the gun barrel with the rail, became lodged inside the carriage, and Kamiyu tightly gripped the rifle’s handle.

This was how she temporarily secured herself.

The people inside the carriage, seeing the sudden change above them, scattered in panic.

“Are they filming a movie?”

“I heard there were terrorists at that subway station earlier.”

“The news says there’s a group of terrorists causing havoc all over Dragon Roar City, even shooting down helicopters.”

“Is that for real?”

“Look, the latest update: Armed police units from outside have entered Dragon Roar City, and the city will enter a curfew state in one hour.”

“What’s going on? Are we going to war?”

“Something big is coming.”

“Wait, the news clearly says they’re terrorists, so why aren’t specialized anti-terrorism police handling it? Instead, it’s the more militarily powerful armed police units, and they’ve been urgently deployed from other regions.” A middle-aged man keenly noticed the details in the news report.

“Who knows.”

Kamiyu had taken a few phones from the two-story building earlier, but the situation was too urgent for her to examine them closely.

Just as she was about to pull out the ceramic blade again to cut open the roof and enter the carriage, her sharp eyes noticed that the platform they had just left was undergoing a change.

“No way, is this even possible?” Kamiyu furrowed her brow.

“I told you, you can’t escape, Little Red Riding Hood.” Mohawk jumped down onto the tracks.

Mohawk’s feet mimicked reverse-jointed limbs, like the backward-facing legs of an antelope.

“Thud, thud, thud, thud.” Mohawk accelerated fiercely, chasing after the high-speed train.

“Hey, hey, hey, Dragon Roar City’s subway trains travel at 100 kilometers per hour. You can actually catch up?” Kamiyu’s eyes widened.

If Mohawk could catch up, it meant his current speed far exceeded 100 kilometers per hour.

Kamiyu quickly fired her gun at him.

“Bang, bang, bang, bang.” All the rifle bullets hit their mark.

But they only produced red sparks, grazing him as they deflected.

“Is this a hack?” Kamiyu gasped, starting to wonder if he was the protagonist instead.

Mohawk streamlined his body and mimicked armor on both arms, blocking Kamiyu’s bullets.

He’s blocking the bullets? Kamiyu’s eyes lit up.

Earlier, when Mohawk was in his Terminator form, he didn’t even bother blocking—he just tanked the bullets outright. Now, he’s actively blocking them.

This proved that his current form wasn’t an invincible one.

The Terminator form was the “invincible” form.

There’s a chance, Kamiyu thought excitedly.

She pulled the NTW-40 anti-materiel cannon from her storage. Finally, she had an opportunity to test her signature weapon, the sniper rifle.

She extended the sniper rifle’s bipod and set it up on the train roof.

Kamiyu had already adjusted the scope earlier, but that wasn’t all.

To be even more certain, she silently chanted, “Activate skill 【Hold Breath】 (Quickly enter a shooting stance, increase accuracy rate by 10%; Cooldown Time 5 minutes).”

Kamiyu pulled back the bolt, loading a round into the chamber.

The 14.5mm high-velocity Armor-Piercing Round could even penetrate armor.

On the roof of the high-speed train, swaying continuously, Mohawk’s head appeared in the Scope. Kamiyu relied on her Experience and Skill to steadily lock onto Mohawk.

She remained calm, suppressing her heartbeat.

Then, without hesitation, she pulled the Trigger.
