Chapter 84: Thunderstorm Bullet
Chapter 84: Thunderstorm Bullet
After listening to Li Changde’s introduction, Kamiyu understood that her current strength still fell short of what was needed to clear the Keystone Dungeon and obtain the core item for building a Sanctuary—the Altar of Lilith.
She silently repeated the key information about the Keystone Dungeon in her mind: it leaned toward solo clearing, and for each additional person, the Health and Attack Power of the Aberrant Beast Demons would multiply.
The lowest-level player to clear it was General Lei Yao, who succeeded at Level 20.
However, what was special was that he had entered the Instance Dungeon with another Beta Tester Player at the time. Both of them successfully cleared it, but in the end, only Lei Yao walked out of the dungeon. He instantly obtained two Altars of Lilith and built two Sanctuaries.
He seized both the right timing and favorable circumstances, which propelled him to become the most powerful Beta Tester Player.
Kamiyu took a deep breath. The highest-ranked Beta Tester Player in the “entire server,” at Level 31, was planning to deal with her.
She was only Level 10 now—how could she possibly fight? Even if it were Xiao X, Ye X, Lin X, or Chu X, none of them would challenge an opponent so many levels above them.
Yet, it was precisely this overwhelming sense of pressure from such a huge gap in strength that made Kamiyu feel the urge to enhance herself more quickly and grow stronger.
Time waited for no one. After requesting a room of her own from Li Changde, Kamiyu left the conference room.
She arrived at a guest room facing the square in the mansion, which had the best location. This guest room also utilized the same space-expansion effect as the previous tavern, making it called a “guest room” in name, but in reality, its size and functionality were equivalent to a large apartment in the Real World.
Without delay, Kamiyu immediately began preparing to clear the Keystone Dungeon.
According to Li Changde’s intel, most Aberrant Beast Demons in the Keystone Dungeon were weak against electric shocks, so the electric-attribute Staff of Cruelty in her hand would come in handy—she wouldn’t sell it now.
Moreover, she needed to unlock the Thunderstorm Bullet branch of Magic Bullets.
She opened her Enhancement Interface Panel, dragged the NTW-40 into it. After enhancement, the Affix would become a universal Skill, usable by other “Staves”—Weapons shaped like firearms.
Kamiyu said softly, “Pay 2 Enhancement Points to unlock the Magic Bullet branch—Thunderstorm Bullet.”
She added with a pained expression, “I only have 10 Enhancement Points, and I need to save 1. This Thunderstorm Bullet cost 2—it really hurts.”
A “ding” sounded in her mind.
【Unlock successful. Magic Bullet branch—Thunderstorm Bullet has been converted into a No-Cooldown Skill.】
【Skill Effect 1: “Arc Splash”—When the Bullet hits a target, it splits into 5 Arcs dealing 100% Damage each, randomly shocking enemies within 10 meters. Beyond 10 meters, Damage decreases by 10% for every meter away from the primary target.】
【Skill Effect 2: “Frenzied Lightning Arrow”—The 5 Arcs dealing 100% Damage each combine into a single lightning bolt. Upon hitting a target, it deals 600% of the Player’s Attack Power as Damage to that target.】
【Gifted Magic Bullet quantity: 100. Current total Magic Bullet quantity: 100/n.】
Kamiyu had just been grumbling about spending 2 Enhancement Points, but after seeing the enhancement unlock, she realized it actually had two Skill Effects—equivalent to unlocking two Magic Bullets at once.
This unexpected surprise instantly lifted Kamiyu’s spirits.
“A Magic Bullet with two modes?” Kamiyu couldn’t help but feel delighted upon hearing this.
She examined the two skill effects more closely, and her joy grew even stronger—this time, she had truly struck gold.
“Simply put, the first mode, 【Arc Splash】, is essentially an enhanced version of the Staff of Cruelty. When hitting one enemy, for every point of damage dealt, it generates five arcs of equivalent damage, striking enemies within a 10-meter range.
This is perfect for clearing mobs. After someone gathers monsters together, firing one Magic Bullet is equivalent to hitting six monsters, with no loss in damage.”
“The second mode, 【Frenzied Lightning Arrow】, combines the original arc with the five fission arcs, merging all six arcs into one. With 600% Attack Power, it’s clearly designed for breaking through defenses and instantly taking down Dungeon Bosses.”
Kamiyu thought to herself that the advantage of Magic Bullets was that they didn’t consume Spirit points. She wasn’t a traditional Mage and had no innate magic skills; she relied on the affixes of the Staff of Cruelty to use magic skills, which was somewhat unconventional.
The cost, however, was that each use of the Staff of Cruelty consumed 20 Spirit points. With only 100 points total, she effectively had only 80 points to use. If her Spirit points fell below 20, she would become dizzy and fall unconscious.
The Staff of Cruelty was powerful and didn’t require bullets, but it reduced her efficiency in Map Clearing.
“There are still 7 Enhancement Points available, but at least 5 of them need to be reserved for enhancing the Sanctuary later. That leaves only 2 Enhancement Points to use now.”
She reviewed her current capabilities.
“In terms of Armor: I have the Ancestral Legendary Tier equipment False Death Garment and the Legendary Tier equipment Ancestral Spirit’s Blessing. These two are a matched set and cannot be altered.”
“In terms of Weapons: I have the NTW-40, Demon-Repelling Holy Flame, Staff of Cruelty, and Ceramic Blade—all Legendary Tier.”
“In terms of Skills: I have Headshot Strike, Hold Breath, and Magic Bullet (Delayed Implosion Bullet, Curving Bullet, Arc Splash, Frenzied Lightning Arrow).
In terms of Items: Several Mind-Steadying Potions, Health Restoration Potions, and Resistance Potions.”
Kamiyu thought to herself, “It doesn’t feel particularly impressive—a bit underwhelming. It looks strong, but not overwhelmingly so; it looks weak, but not terribly weak either. It feels somewhat average.”
“This is giving me a headache. I can’t figure out where to enhance. It feels like if I enhance one area, I’ll be lacking in another.” Kamiyu found herself in a dilemma, constantly trying to balance one thing with another.
Adding a point anywhere would alter her current Sneaky Tactics.
This feeling was akin to having money but not knowing where to spend it.
However, Kamiyu was still a “Newbie” and didn’t realize that other players at her level only had one Common Weapon at most, with the more capable ones having two Common Weapons and only two or three Skills to rely on.
Thanks to her Enhancement Talent, she had “stripped” affixes and used them as Skills, effectively giving herself four additional Skills. Combined with the Construction Sage Talent, she gained another four Skills.
Her actual strength far surpassed that of other players at her level. With the right attributes, taking down a level 15 Dungeon Boss in one move wasn’t difficult.
Kamiyu pondered for a moment. With only 100 Magic Bullets left, she felt it would be embarrassing to attempt a Keystone Dungeon without at least one or two thousand Magic Bullets on hand.
After the enhancement, I still need to go farm some Magic Crystal Ore. First, let’s practice with the equipment and items I obtained today.
Also, where is Jack? He promised to be my partner, but now I have no idea where he’s gone off to.
Real World.
Jack had already purchased many things, thoroughly cleaned up the original messy place, and laid out a new mattress on the floor.
Jack looked at the brand-new towels, shower gel in the bathroom, and a small yellow duck toy. “I hope she likes these things.”
City Center.
“Report, the people in the vehicle are dead.”
“How did they die? Was it by a Skill? If it was by a Skill, have Lei Yao find someone to analyze which Skill it was.”
“Report, the people in the vehicle were killed by bullets, Headshot Every Time. It appears to be the work of an expert. Lei Yao has entered an Instance Dungeon and refuses any contact. He said something about going into seclusion.”
“Ah, this Lei Yao, always dropping the ball at critical moments. Headshot Every Time?” The Officer thought of that pink-haired little girl.
“Could it be her?”
“Hurry, search the nearby surveillance footage for a pink-haired little girl.”
