Chapter 85: Misunderstanding
Chapter 85: Misunderstanding
Inside the Guild Manor, Kamiyu said, “I need to go farm Magic Crystal Ore to craft a batch of Magic Bullets, and I’ll need Jack’s help.”
But where was Jack? She had already been farming in Crimson Earth for quite a while, and she hadn’t even caught a glimpse of him.
“Forget it, I’ll just go solo. Others can’t be relied on; only I am the most dependable,” Kamiyu told herself.
She had obtained the most comprehensive Internal Specialty Map from Li Changde, which marked the locations of various Instance Dungeons and all sorts of routes. All she had to do was follow it.
It wasn’t convenient to change outfits inside the city, so Kamiyu decided to leave the city wearing the Invincible Guild’s Mage Robe, posing as Kamier. Once outside the city, she would change back into her own Kamiyu attire in a secluded spot.
She thought to herself, “This feels just like Superman Clark.”
When Kamiyu arrived at the Main City, she found a massive crowd gathered, watching something unfold.
At the City Gate, many people were jeering, and those at the back who couldn’t see had even climbed onto rooftops.
She heard someone rushing up behind her, saying, “Holy crap, I heard a new Player who isn’t wearing any clothes refused to pay the Official Players’ City Gate Fee and actually dared to challenge them to a Life-or-Death Duel.”
“This new Player is pretty impressive. I saw him teleport into the game, not seeking out anyone or asking anyone anything. He ignored the warnings from those Veteran Players selling Potions and just headed straight out into the Wilderness Zone. Isn’t that just pure suicide?” another Player said.
After hearing this, Kamiyu was startled and repeated to herself, “Not wearing clothes, silent, and just going straight into action—these three very obvious behavioral traits… isn’t this person Jack?”
Not long after, three Official Players were sent flying backward, soaring over ten meters away and embedding themselves into a wall, their fates unknown.
The onlookers erupted in exclamations.
“Whoa!”
“Holy crap!”
“So strong.”
“Such incredible strength, wearing nothing at all, fighting off three veteran Official Players while naked. Could this person be the 13th Beta Tester Boss, Kamiyu?” one person exclaimed in surprise.
“But, isn’t Kamiyu a woman’s name?” another Veteran Player replied.
“A man with a woman’s name—that’s even more thrilling,” the first person said with a laugh.
“Heh, that’s true. Looking at this person’s aura, you can tell at a glance he’s a ruthless character, a true expert. He must be the new Beta Tester Player, Kamiyu,” another Veteran Player selling Potions chimed in.
“That pervert not wearing any clothes is definitely not me!” Kamiyu grew anxious. She was being falsely accused out of nowhere and was so flustered she wanted to rush to the front to see what was happening.
Petite and cute, she couldn’t see over the crowd and was hopping up and down at the back.
“Make way, make way!” Kamiyu shouted.
At first, no one moved for her, but when they saw she was wearing the Invincible Guild’s Mage Robe and had a Frontline Team Emblem pinned to her chest, they immediately cleared a path for this Big Shot.
Kamiyu hurried to the very front of the crowd.
“Ugh, it really is him,” Kamiyu said, raising her hand to cover her forehead.
A two-meter-tall muscular giant, wearing nothing but a pair of briefs even shorter than swim trunks, was swinging his fists, relentlessly pummeling the Official Players in front of him.
Jack said in a deep voice, “Still dare to collect a toll?”
“Grandpa, I won’t dare anymore, please spare us.” The level 13 veteran player lay before Jack like a limp, lifeless dog, utterly powerless to fight back.
Jack casually tossed the man aside as if discarding trash.
Jack spotted Kamiyu in the crowd. Even though she was wrapped up more tightly than a woman from a certain religious sect, he could still recognize her at a glance—more effective than an X-ray machine.
He wanted to walk over to Kamiyu and assemble with her.
But the next second.
“Jack, be careful!” Kamiyu shouted loudly.
This shameless official player suddenly sprang up, pulling out a poisoned short blade and launching a sneak attack on Jack from behind.
Jack stood still and shouted, “Golden Body!”
With a “clang,” the poisoned blade shattered into pieces.
Without even turning around, Jack bent over and delivered a straight backward kick, sending the man flying. Not a drop of blood remained—the man was directly turned into blue particles, dropping a gray “ash box.”
“Damn, that’s a defense skill, and the strongest invincibility skill at that,” exclaimed a veteran player.
“It seems the new Beta Tester Boss is from the warrior class, and he’s a tank class with an invincibility skill,” a squad player in the crowd analyzed seriously.
“This is really going to shake things up. There are already too many attack-type Beta Tester Bosses, but this is the first defensive one. If you team up with this boss for map clearing, you definitely won’t die.
And if he establishes a guild, many people will definitely want to join,” another guild member chimed in.
Kamiyu felt increasingly awkward the more she listened. She was the actual Beta Tester, yet now Jack was being mistaken for one, and the rumor was spreading as if it were true.
Now she felt too embarrassed to step forward and debunk the rumor, so she could only let this lie and misunderstanding continue.
Faced with Jack’s overwhelming strength, the official players scattered like stray dogs, quickly fleeing the scene.
Many guilds and squads surged forward, eager to make friendly contact with Jack, extending olive branches and making all sorts of promises.
Some small guilds and squads even wanted Jack to become their guild leader or squad captain.
Kamiyu was stunned. Was the reputation of a Beta Tester really this significant?
It seemed she had been too low-key, almost like wearing fine clothes at night—unseen and unnoticed.
Jack paid no attention to these people and walked straight toward Kamiyu.
“Hey, hey, hey, put on some clothes!” Kamiyu shouted.
“I’m hot,” Jack said, looking down at Kamiyu with a deep voice.
“This hellish joke really isn’t funny,” Kamiyu replied helplessly.
In the real world, in Dragon Roar City, Jack had truly been burned to death once.
Seeing his chest heaving up and down, Kamiyu couldn’t stand it anymore and quickly tossed him a piece of black armor.
“Legendary Tier?” Jack’s eyes widened as he spoke.
People nearby whispered among themselves.
“Damn, casually gifting Legendary Armor just like that. The Invincible Guild is really generous. You know, armor is far more valuable than weapons—one piece of armor can buy five weapons,” said a veteran solo player.
“Yeah, with this boss having both an invincibility skill and powerful armor, no one can break through him,” another person chimed in.
“Is he from the Invincible Guild? They’ve made their move? I need to hurry back and report,” said a player from a major squad before turning and leaving.
“Ah, us small guilds just can’t compete with the big ones,” sighed another small Guild Player.
Kamiyu wasn’t used to being stared at. She immediately grabbed Jack’s hand and started running toward the City Gate, saying, “I’ve been waiting for you forever, why did you only show up now? Let’s get out of here quickly.”
