Chapter 87: Something’s Missing
Chapter 87: Something's Missing
Jack was clad head to toe in black armor, with a two-meter-long greatsword resting on his shoulder. This look was simply iconic, radiating an overwhelming sense of security at first glance.
“Wow, so cool!” Kamiyu’s eyes lit up, feeling that her Construction Sage Talent could be explored in a whole new way.
She could replicate all sorts of classic props from various films and TV shows in her mind.
Although she could only replicate their appearance—their attributes still couldn’t exceed the limits set by the Black Sphere Game and Crimson Earth—it was more than enough.
Jack said, “This Legendary Tier 【Black-Scaled Snake Armor】 you crafted for me is too precious. Maxed-out attributes, and the affix skill is so good.”
Kamiyu replied proudly, “Of course! Who do you think made this armor? I only craft masterpieces.”
She continued, “I designed this armor to complement your skills, so you can seamlessly integrate them.”
Jack opened the attributes of the 【Black-Scaled Snake Armor】 again.
【Equipment Name: Black-Scaled Snake Armor】
【Equipment Slot: Upper Body】
【Tier: Legendary】
【Durability: 100/100】
【Equipment Attributes: Defense Power +1600 (1200–1600), Poison Resistance +90% (10%–90%), Fire Resistance +90% (10%–90%)】
【Affix: Berserker – When blood adheres to the armor’s outer surface, Defense Power increases by 500%, while the armor evaporates 20% of the adhered blood per second.】
The Berserker affix Kamiyu chose meant that even if just a single drop of blood stuck to the surface, Jack would enjoy five seconds of quintupled Defense Power. As long as Jack kept killing nonstop, the quintupled Defense Power would persist.
This affix effectively compensated for Jack’s weaknesses at close range—reduced Defense Power and the cooldown time of his Golden Body.
“Quintupled Defense Power should be more than enough for you. Plus, with 90% poison and fire resistance, I feel like you could stand there and let a Level 15 Dungeon Boss bite or breathe fire on you without losing a single drop of blood.”
“Here, let me give you a weapon too. That’ll make the set perfect,” Kamiyu said.
Kamiyu retrieved a strange weapon shaped like a chain hook from her Storage—a pitch-black, rusted chain with a five-clawed, barbed hook at one end.
If forced to draw a comparison, it resembled a modified version of the scythe wielded by the Chain Warden from League of Legends in the real world.
“Is your family running an armory? How do you even have weapons?” Jack was utterly astonished. Why did Kamiyu have so many weapons and armor? Wasn’t her talent Enhancement?
His impression of her talent was still stuck in the first one or two minutes of the Black Sphere Game, when she enhanced a ceramic shard into game equipment and stabbed that Player to death with it.
“You’re underestimating me too much. Don’t you know who I am? I’m a Beta Tester Player, one of the 13 Big Shots in the game,” Kamiyu said, tilting her head back with a proud expression.
As she said this, she felt a twinge of guilt. Without Jack’s sacrifice, she and he would have died together, and the ultimate victory would have been handed over to that Player who could predict the future.
But the outcome spoke for itself. Kamiyu’s eventual victory was the result of her efforts and her desperate will to survive, which moved Jack and led him to willingly give up his own life, allowing Kamiyu to ultimately survive and win the Black Sphere Game.
“Quick, take a look, don’t just stand there.” Kamiyu was like a little girl who had just baked a cake and wanted others to taste it so they could praise her skills.
Jack took the hook-like weapon and examined its attributes, his mouth falling open in astonishment.
“Something this valuable… I can’t accept it.”
“Hey, are you a man or not? If I’m giving it to you, I’m giving it to you. Why are you being so polite?” Kamiyu pouted.
Jack swallowed hard. This Legendary Weapon truly addressed his weaknesses, allowing him to achieve a perfect balance of offense and defense.
Jack opened the attribute information for this hook weapon:
【Equipment Name: Black Mist Hook-Chain】
【Equipment Slot: Scythe】
【Level: Legendary Tier】
【Durability: 100/100】
【Affix Skill 1: Soul Reaper, the hook-chain splits into five, extending five chains forward. Upon hooking an enemy, pulls them directly in front of the user. Cooldown Time: 5 seconds】
【Affix Skill 2: Bleed Infection, enemies hooked will enter a state of vulnerability to bleeding, causing continuous bleeding until death. (Passive Skill, no Cooldown Time)】
Jack said, “This can pull monsters to me and also causes bleeding. Is it meant to synergize with the Black-Scaled Snake Armor’s special effect?”
Kamiyu said proudly, “Of course. Now you see how amazing I am, right?”
Kamiyu wasn’t worried about Jack’s Defense Power being insufficient because she had also given him a pair of pants.
Combined with the earlier Suppressing Cold Iron Leggings, his Defense Power reached 2200, equivalent to withstanding attacks from level 22 enemies. Keep in mind, Jack was only level 5. And this was just the Defense Power from his armor, not including his Talent bonuses or Skills.
【Equipment Name: Suppressing Cold Iron Leggings】
【Equipment Slot: Pants】
【Equipment Level: Common Tier】
【Equipment Attributes: Defense Power +600 (200-600), Fire Resistance +80% (10%-80%)】
The build strategy for this equipment set was: 【Black Mist Hook-Chain】 paired with 【Black-Scaled Snake Armor】. First, pull and gather monsters, then apply bleeding to continuously gain 5x Defense Power. Add 【Dragon Slayer Blade】’s “One Cut, Two Halves” effect, and with a single swing, all the trash mobs would die.
Kamiyu had essentially transformed Jack into an all-around Barbarian Warrior, balanced in both attack and defense. He had the 【Shout Battle Roar】 Skill to increase damage and the 【Taunting Battle Roar】 Skill to gather monsters.
This seamless coordination between Skills and equipment meant that when Skills were on Cooldown, he could use the equipment’s Affix Skills, greatly enhancing his overall strength.
This was the hard power of Kamiyu’s Construction Sage Talent—the ability to sift through the weapon and armor library to assemble a suitable equipment set that could elevate an ordinary Player’s strength by a significant margin.
Especially for a Player like Jack, who possessed a Powerful Talent, his hard power was greatly enhanced by Kamiyu’s equipment setup.
“Let’s not waste any time. We should go Dungeon Grinding right away. I need Magic Crystal Ore to make bullets,” Kamiyu said excitedly.
After all this preparation, it was time to go on a rampage and collect ore.
Kamiyu wasn’t worried about Jack leaking secrets. Because if a person was willing to sacrifice their life for her, even offering up their most important possessions, what reason did she have to hide anything from him? What need was there to guard against him?
It could be said that aside from herself, Jack was the person she trusted most.
The two of them walked along the path together.
Jack put on Kamiyu’s equipment, fully embodying the look of a Black Armor Warrior. Kamiyu remarked, “It seems like something’s missing.”
“What’s missing?”
“A War Horse. We’ll have to ask Li Changde how to get one when we get back.” Kamiyu recalled the awe-inspiring appearance of the Frontline Team members, feeling deeply envious.
As they spoke, the two arrived before a valley flanked by steep cliffs on both sides. Inside the valley lay a thick fog, while the entrance was littered with piles of white bones—clearly a place not to be trifled with.
