Chapter 45: A Tiny Bit of Revenge (Two)
Chapter 45: A Tiny Bit of Revenge (Two)
Original: Chapter 45: A Tiny Bit of Revenge 2
“W-wait a second.”
The Red-Haired Girl grabbed my shoulder. I had no choice but to turn and face her.
“You saw how badly she’s hurt, right? You’re really going to demand money at a time like this?”
“Yes, I am. This is a Dungeon, so it’s only natural.”
“Huh? What’s so different about being in a Dungeon?”
“For example, water is cheap in Tokyo, but its price skyrockets in a desert.”
I simply repeated what the serious senior had taught me earlier.
“I get that logic, but…”
“A Dungeon is a place where your life is at risk, so Potions that serve as lifelines should naturally be expensive. This is my last Potion. If I give it away, my own risk of dying increases. I can’t just hand it over for free.”
This was also something the serious senior taught me. I think the reasoning holds up.
By the way, the reason I jacked up the Potion price to ten times what it was earlier is because I hold a serious grudge against this Red-Haired Girl and her group. So, I wouldn’t dream of selling them a Potion cheaply to help them out. Free is absolutely out of the question.
The Red-Haired Girl was getting irritated. She probably understood my point. Or rather, maybe Potions actually are normally expensive deep inside Dungeons, and I just didn’t know about it.
“But hey, aren’t we friends?”
Huh? Which mouth is saying that?
“I think it’s times like these that test your friendship, or rather, your humanity. Doesn’t your heart ache at all?”
“Not one bit.”
“You’re human trash.”
“Have you already forgotten?”
“Huh?”
“Back then, you abandoned me in the Red Zone. Didn’t your heart ache after doing something like that? Are you saying that was friendship?”
“Hah! That was just a bit of fun, a diversion. It was thrilling and you had a good time, right? You turned out fine, so stop making a big deal out of it and just let it go already.”
“Then it should be fine if I abandon you all here right now. Make sure to let it go properly someday.”
I took a firm step forward. I was absolutely going to walk away.
“Ah, w-w-w-wait. My bad. I said I’m sorry!”
“It’s too late for anything now.”
It echoed in my head. The voices of these girls who abandoned me and laughed back then. I absolutely cannot forgive them.
This is my own form of revenge. These girls need to experience a whole lot of pain and sadness from now on. They deserve no kindness whatsoever—
I tried to run. But then, a faint, lifeless, dying voice reached my ears.
“Wai…t… Pl…ea…se.”
I stopped. Looking back, the dying girl, still lying on her back, was straining her voice.
“Seriously… I’m gonna die… I’ll pay… 100,000… Just… front it for me… Better than… dying… When I get… better… I’ll just earn it back…”
“…Huh? Are you seriously saying that?! That’s 100,000 Pon. That’s way more than just wiping out today’s earnings.”
“Seriously… I will… Pl…ea…se.”
Whoa, the Red-Haired Girl was super pissed. She glared at me with eyes that looked like she was staring at her parents’ murderer. It was terrifying.
“You’re gonna die a miserable death!”
“You’re the one who will.”
Basically, everyone who comes to a Dungeon should be prepared for that. Maybe this person isn’t prepared enough. If that’s the case, they have no business being in a Dungeon.
I quickly tapped through the transaction interface. 100,000 Pon, received in full.
“Hmph, trying to take advantage of us over a mere Potion. It probably only heals like 10 or 20 HP anyway.”
“…Did you look closely?”
The conversation is over. The exchange of Potion and money is done. I won’t talk any more with unpleasant people. I turned my back on the Red-Haired Girl and started walking.
“Gah! It recovers 200?! That’s more than enough for a Full Recovery!”
“Don’t make light of my Potions. See ya.”
“Where did you buy this? Hey. Hey, I’m talking to you!”
…So you don’t even remember what my Initial Skill was. You never paid any attention to me. And yet you had the nerve to talk about friendship.
A voice from behind me said, “Hurry up and give her the Potion!” It seemed the Red-Haired Girl’s interest shifted away from me after that.
There was no chasing after me or calling out anymore.
As I walked, I activated 〈Potion Create〉. By the time I reach the Plaza, I should easily have three more ready. My Material stock is running low, so maybe I’ll look for Medicinal Herbs and Mana Gemstones on the way back.
“…100,000 Pon was still too cheap, wasn’t it?”
Maybe I’ll try saying 200,000 Pon next time. After all, I didn’t even get a single “thank you.”
