Chapter 47: 〈Adversity Enhancement〉

Chapter 47: 〈Adversity Enhancement〉

Original: Chapter 47: 〈Adversity Enhancement〉

After walking a short distance, I arrived at Miss Rilril’s street stall. There was only one customer, so I waited a little to the side.

A woman who looked like an office worker was saying, “Thank you for always providing such good potions.” It seemed she had bought my potion. And she appeared to be a regular customer.

I felt like saying, “Actually, I’m the one who made that.” Somehow, it made me a little happy.

The office lady left the stall. Maybe she was going on an adventure to relieve work stress. Have a good adventure, and a good Dungeon Life.

Now, it was my turn. Miss Rilril and I made eye contact.

“Miss Sayuki, welcome back!”

“I’m home!”

“Did your clothes get torn again?”

She could tell right away if something was up with my clothes. I was in my tracksuit look, different from when I came to the Dungeon.

“They really got torn up however they pleased.”

“By Monsters? How rude!”

Yeah, I agreed.

First, I sold her the freshly made potion. Right after that, another person appeared to buy a potion. They really do sell like hotcakes.

I can make the next potion in 20 minutes, so while Miss Rilril is selling the potion, I’ll activate 〈Potion Create〉.

The customer happily headed deeper into the Dungeon.

I started chatting with Miss Rilril. I wanted to talk about Skills right away. I needed to consult about my troubles with 〈Adversity Enhancement〉.

“Huh? You can learn 〈Adversity Enhancement〉, and at Level 10, for just 1 Skill Point? That’s incredible!”

“Really? This is my first time with something like this, so I don’t really understand.”

“Normally, to learn that Skill and raise it to Level 10, you’d need at least 500 or more Skill Points, I think.”

“F-five hundred!”

“Maybe even more. Anyway, it requires a huge number of Skill Points.”

That’s surprising.

“But why did it suddenly become available to learn so cheaply…?”

That’s what I don’t get. This never happened before.

“Sometimes, you can acquire Skills by fulfilling specific conditions. The conditions are usually strict, but the benefit is big since you hardly use any Skill Points.”

“…So, without knowing it, I fulfilled those specific conditions?”

“Exactly. Did you read the Skill description? I think the specific conditions are written there.”

Come to think of it, I only checked the Skill name. I should take a look. I opened the Skill acquisition screen and selected 〈Adversity Enhancement〉.

There really are specific conditions written. It goes something like this—.

‘Acquisition Condition: Face a Monster with a Recommended Conquest Level at least 35 higher than your own Level alone, and achieve a come-from-behind victory from a Near-Death state.’

“Huh, so the condition is having a Level 35 deficit?”

“Looks like it. What did you fight?”

“I fought something called a Raging Orc.”

“Whaaaaaaaaaat! That has a Recommended Conquest Level of 80. You actually won?!”

“W-well, somehow I managed to win. Ahaha…”

Whoa, the Raging Orc’s Recommended Conquest Level was that high? No wonder it was so strong. I can understand why so many people were seriously injured.

“Miss Sayuki, you really shouldn’t push yourself too hard.”

“If I had known, I definitely would have run away… I’ll be more careful from now on.”

“Absolutely, okay?”

Yes, I replied. I really will be careful. From now on, I’ll try to avoid battles with completely unfamiliar Monsters as much as possible.

Next, I read the Skill description for 〈Adversity Enhancement〉. This is the description for Skill Level 10. Let’s see, what does it say—.

‘When HP falls to 1/10 or less of maximum, all Status values become 1.5 times higher.’

“Wow, that’s incredibly strong. Becoming 1.5 times stronger.”

“〈Adversity Enhancement〉 is a coveted Skill for serious hardcore clearers. It’s strong and rare. I strongly recommend acquiring it. I think it will protect Miss Sayuki’s life many times over from now on.”

“That’s true. It seems like it would make me faster at escaping in a pinch.”

Well, I’m the type who, when I get agitated in battle, tends to stand and fight rather than run away.

Anyway, this Skill seems useful.

There’s no downside to having it, and with a bargain condition like 1 Skill Point, it’s definitely better to learn it.

And so, my mind was made up.

“Skill 〈Adversity Enhancement〉, acquired!”

“Wow, congratulations~”

Miss Rilril applauded for me. I was really happy.

“Miss Sayuki, you’re getting stronger and stronger. You’re becoming more reliable.”

“It’s thanks to Miss Rilril guiding me.”

We showered each other with praise.

While we were doing that, a potion finished, so I sold it. Right after selling it, another customer appeared to buy a potion. I made another potion. It feels like a good cycle is forming.

After finishing my chat with Miss Rilril, I headed for the Dungeon exit.

The delicious aroma of food made by the Dungeonfolk wafted through the air. Ah… The wonderful smell after intense combat really hits an empty stomach.

Maybe I should eat something. I’m seriously tempted.

But, with tearful resolve, I held back. Dinner is waiting when I get home, and I’m scared of overeating and gaining weight.

But, my stomach growled loudly. It was a stomach that paid no attention to the atmosphere.
