Chapter 69: Going to the Dungeon with Senior Shirogane
Chapter 69: Going to the Dungeon with Senior Shirogane
Original: Chapter 69: Going to the Dungeon with Senior Shirogane
Phew, all the classes for the day are over. Finally, after school.
I stood up from my seat, shouldering my shark backpack. I flipped my chair over onto the desk and headed for the classroom exit.
Alright, time to head to the dungeon.
Today, I’m thinking of making some potions to earn some pocket money while also looking for a quest that might give me some skill points.
Without greeting anyone in particular, I quietly slipped out into the hallway through the back door of the classroom without making a sound.
Whoa, I got startled.
There’s an incredibly beautiful girl standing gracefully by the hallway window.
When I saw who it was, it turned out to be Senior Shirogane. Even though I feel like I’ve seen her many times already, I found myself captivated by her again. Truly fearsome, the school’s number one beauty.
“Hey. I’ve been waiting for you~”
Senior Shirogane happily opened her hand and waved.
Wow, a beauty waves with only her middle and ring fingers together. It’s cute, but if I tried to imitate it, I’d think it’s a hassle. I guess the part about not sparing any effort for cuteness is fundamentally different from me.
I glided past Senior Shirogane.
“Hey, you there, you.”
I stopped and looked to the right. Looked to the left. Looked behind me. Whoa, everyone’s looking at the senior. The guys are all blushing and looking at her from head to toe as if devouring her with their eyes. I understand the feeling, but they could at least try to be a little less obvious about it.
“The one I was waiting for is little Sayuki Chiyusaki~”
“Huh, m-me?”
Senior Shirogane came closer to my side.
“Come on, I said we’d go to the dungeon together, didn’t I?”
“I thought that was just lip service.”
“Of course not.”
“But I’m a pure loner, an introvert, and not cute at all. I never thought something as happy as someone going to the dungeon with me would ever happen.”
“Huh? What are you talking about? Little Sayuki is super cute. You’re a talent that could aim for number one in the school.”
“Hahaha… that’s so impossible it’s off-putting…”
“You have such low self-esteem it’s almost worrying…”
I left my self-esteem behind in my childhood.
After all, the last time anyone called me cute was back in elementary school.
“Tch.”
Whoa, I heard a really deliberate click of the tongue.
Looking over, the unpleasant people who left me behind in the Red Zone were there. They were glaring at me and Senior Shirogane with hatred. Then, they started talking among themselves.
“Ah, yuck, that senior is still alive~”
“Ugh, the worst~”
“Wish she’d just died.”
“Tenacious. Seriously, just die already.”
Senior Shirogane was visibly annoyed. But even that expression was dignified, elegant, and beautiful.
“Ahh, if it isn’t the people who laughed loudly in the dungeon and pushed monsters onto me.”
“Why are you still alive? There were four monsters. Some even had a recommended conquest level over 90.”
“Well, the ones over 90 were really dangerous. Thanks to you, I almost died. I really have to hand it to you.”
“Don’t know, don’t care. If you’re scared of dying, you just shouldn’t go to the dungeon.”
“Yeah, that’s obvious. So, next time, I definitely won’t let it slide.”
“Heh, if you can, then try it. We’re super strong, after all.”
Crackle, crackle, crackle—Senior Shirogane and the people I dislike were sparking with their glares.
It had the intensity of guys about to start a brawl. Do girls fight like this? Watching it made me really nervous.
Come to think of it, these were the people who put the senior through such a terrible ordeal. I’m really shocked, but it makes sense. After all, I’ve also had my life threatened by these people.
“Hey, let’s just go already.”
“Yeah, let’s go. Guys like that will probably die on their own sooner or later~”
“Tch, fine. …But, got it?”
One of the unpleasant people glared at Senior Shirogane.
“The cutest one in school isn’t you, it’s me. Make sure you understand that clearly, okay?”
That’s beyond not knowing your place. Of all people, trying to compete with Senior Shirogane in cuteness? If you asked a hundred people, all hundred would immediately say Senior Shirogane is cuter.
Senior Shirogane looked like she was about to retort. But before she could, one of the unpleasant person’s companions reacted.
“Pfft, no way! Gya-hahahaha!”
“You, go look in a mirror~”
“Are you the type who got told you’re cute too much by your parents and got conceited? Ahahahaha!”
Whoa, no mercy. Getting made fun of by your own friends.
“Shut up, you guys. I personally think I’m cuter. Anyway, let’s go.”
Laughing loudly, the unpleasant people walked away. I think everyone mentally retorted: You could never beat Senior Shirogane.
Senior Shirogane kept her fighting-woman eyes fixed on their backs the whole time.
“Senior Shirogane, it’s better not to get involved with those people. Right after I enrolled, they left me behind in the Red Zone. They’re cold people who don’t care about others’ lives at all.”
Both Senior Shirogane and the surrounding onlookers were shocked.
“Th-that was when you were level 1? Little Sayuki, it’s amazing you survived…”
“Yes… I kept running with sheer grit while being chased by frogs…”
“The frog-type monsters in the Red Zone are all strong. I can just picture you fighting desperately… Actually, I’m sorry. I ruined the fun mood, didn’t I?”
“No, I’m the type who can forget everything and let off steam just by going to the dungeon.”
Senior Shirogane showed me a smile that could only be described as angelic.
“We’re the same type. Alright, then let’s shake it off and head to the dungeon!”
Senior Shirogane took my hand. Then she started walking, pulling me along.
Her hand… her hand is too soft and too cute, it doesn’t make sense. This person and I are the same gender, right? Somehow, she feels like a completely different, precious being.
We passed through the shoe lockers, left the school gate, and arrived at the nearby dungeon.
For me, entering a dungeon with such a wonderful person is a first-time experience. I thought it might become a special day.
Senior Shirogane looked at me with sparkling eyes.
“Ahh, I’m getting excited. The moment you enter a dungeon really gets your spirits up, doesn’t it?”
“Yes, I totally understand!”
“Right? I knew Little Sayuki would get it~”
We walked side by side into the dungeon. Maybe because we entered together, I felt my spirits soar much higher than usual.
