Chapter 140 – Constructing Giant Beasts

With an earth-shattering roar, a colossal figure burst out from the cave, its hard alchemical armor scraping off several sections of the rock walls. The roar itself formed sonic waves that sent dust and debris flying in all directions.

Before Punk stood a terrifying beast at least seven meters tall. Four eyes glowing with green light were embedded in its relatively small head, while enchanted patterns of energy flowed across the alchemical armor covering every inch of its body. Its enchanted claws sliced through the ground as easily as cutting through tofu. Most importantly, this creature weighed at least ten tons and was now charging toward Punk and the others at a speed no less than that of a fighter jet.

As it rapidly closed in on Punk through the cave passage, a protective shield composed of dozens of energy bricks materialized in front of the beast. Consequently, the acid spray aimed by Golem One at the enemy’s visual modules (eyes) proved completely ineffective.

“Dammit, Bahanger, get ready to smash its head!”

After shouting this, Punk immediately unleashed the long-prepared spell “Kinetic Crush.”

With the System’s precise prediction, Punk’s spell enveloped the entire body of the beast without missing an inch. The cascading kinetic force caused the construct behemoth to stagger in its tracks. Seizing this opportunity, Bahanger leaped up, his warhammer fully charged with battle aura, and slammed it squarely toward the beast’s forehead.

“Watch Bahanger teach you how to shut up!”

BANG!

Accompanied by his signature dwarven battle cry, the shield struck by the warhammer cracked like glass hit by a bullet, instantly covered in fractures. A violent shockwave reverberated through the cave, causing the rock walls around Bahanger and the beast to crack and splinter.

The sheer intensity of the attack neutralized the beast’s accumulated momentum, forcing it to a roaring halt. Vast amounts of energy instantly transferred from an unknown core into the beast’s body, and the shield shattered by Bahanger began to visibly regenerate at a remarkable pace.

Seeing this, Punk rapidly fired five or six “Kinetic Bursts” in succession. However, the beast’s shield recovered faster than Punk had anticipated, and it displayed an agility belying its massive frame, narrowly evading at least half of Punk’s Kinetic Bursts.

“Damn thing! This is never going to end like this,” Punk cursed inwardly.

As a mass-produced alchemical puppet, the construct behemoth possessed insane regenerative capabilities and computational power far surpassing that of other alchemical puppets of its tier. Although its large size made it difficult to strike Punk’s trio effectively, its combination of an impenetrable defense and near-limitless “health regeneration” allowed it to effectively trap them there.

The best way to deal with this creature was to sever its connection to its core; engaging it head-on was a last resort.

Thinking this, Punk shouted up to Kangkai, who was concealed atop the cave conducting reconnaissance, “Kangkai, have you found this thing’s core yet? Even a transmission trajectory would help!”

However, Kangkai’s response was less than reassuring.

“Sorry, the Legendary energy here is too disruptive to my senses. I’ve got no leads at all.”

“Damn it all! Sensory interference, sensory interference! How come that damned Tisha Xia’er can perceive everything so smoothly? She can even project herself to curse and shout in the streets!”Bahanger cursed furiously under his breath as he hammered relentlessly against the alchemical beast’s protective barrier. Each thunderous blow was perfectly absorbed by the sturdy shield; even when cracks appeared, they quickly sealed themselves. This kind of fight was utterly infuriating for the dwarf.

No one answered Bahanger’s grumbling. Kangkai genuinely had no clues, while Punk suspected it was all connected to the Legendary Equipment in Tisha Xia’er’s hands—but he certainly wouldn’t share that intelligence.

All three were now vigorously attacking the alchemical beast while secretly preparing their ultimate moves. Regardless of Tisha Xia’er’s secrets, their immediate priority was to eliminate this construct before her scheme reached completion—they had to intervene before it was too late!

Who knew what chaos would unfold once that mad spider’s “grand plan” succeeded!

Since clever tactics were useless against this behemoth, they had no choice but to brute-force their way through.

Almost simultaneously, the trio adopted the same strategy: feint attacks to distract the beast, then unleash their full power in one devastating assault!

Without further discussion, Punk, Kangkai, and Bahanger sprang into action. One Kinetic Burst after another pummeled the creature continuously while Golem One charged forward with crimson claws, tearing and scraping relentlessly. Kangkai swooped across the cavern ceiling like a giant bat, occasionally hurling Battle Aura blades (though their effectiveness left much to be desired).

Bahanger circled the beast like a whirlwind, his hammer moving too fast for the eye to follow. Only the incessant clanging of metal against the construct’s four legs echoed through the cave, reminiscent of a blacksmith’s frantic work.

Initially, the alchemical beast appeared clumsy against the three Formal-Level professionals, mostly defending passively with occasional ground-shaking slams as counterattacks.

But even a minor boss couldn’t tolerate being pummeled indefinitely. The “clever” construct secretly analyzed its opponents’ patterns and seized an opportunity to strike back without warning.

It was only then that Punk realized this alchemical monstrosity possessed both advanced tactical modules and independent judgment—capabilities typically found only in Master-Level constructs!

The previously silent beast suddenly threw back its head and howled, instantly activating a solidified spell:

Formal-Level Conjuration Magic—Mind Roar!

While lacking the piercing force of “Mind Scream” or the devastating power of “Lesser Mind Blast,” this area-of-effect attack compensated with massive coverage—ensnaring Bahanger below, Kangkai on the ceiling, and Punk in the distance.

Puck sensed the danger the moment the beast gathered mana, but what truly shocked him was the construct’s cunning ambush timing—such tactical intelligence shouldn’t exist outside Master-Level creations.

The timing was impeccably cruel: the Mind Roar erupted precisely as Bahanger’s hammer descended, while simultaneously interrupting Punk’s second Kinetic Crush preparation!A deafening roar that seemed to transcend reality instantly echoed through the cave. Though ethereal and elusive, the sound caused violent tremors in one’s mental energy and innermost being.

The “Mental Barrier” Punk had maintained continuously blocked this assault. The terrifying Mind Roar merely stirred ripples of intense vibration across the invisible barrier before dissipating.

Consequently, not only was Punk able to immediately resume spell preparation, but he also seized the opportunity to command Golem Number One to spray the construct beast with acid.

Unfortunately, activating the innate spell didn’t weaken the construct beast’s energy shield, rendering this acid spray attempt equally ineffective.

Unlike Punk who handled the situation with ease, Bahanger and Kangkai—who had only managed hasty Battle Aura defenses—fared less comfortably. While Bahanger could rely on his abundant Battle Aura to regain clarity within milliseconds, Kangkai took the full brunt of the beast’s sudden “Mind Roar”!
