Chapter 142 – Little Rabbits
Chapter 142 – Little Rabbits
The construct behemoth ultimately lacked flexible thinking—it would only prioritize attacking the enemy currently engaged in combat with it. Thus, this “big dumb brute” blatantly ignored Punk, who was preparing a spell, and wholeheartedly clashed with Bahanger, whose defenses had greatly increased, in a fierce battle.
With Punk and Bahanger sharing the pressure, the metal shards relentlessly pursuing Kangkai slowed down significantly. Only then did Kangkai have a chance to catch his breath. His wounds had mostly healed under the effect of the potion, and he would soon regain most of his combat capability.
Just a few seconds later, Punk completed his spell. This was the first time he had used this Formal-Level spell, which was originally designed for entertainment purposes. However, an “entertainment” spell did not mean it lacked technical sophistication—he had even failed twice before barely managing to cast it.
As the saying goes, there are no useless spells, only useless mages. A Formal-Level spell originally invented to handle mundane daily tasks was about to shine brilliantly here!
Formal-Level Summoning Magic—Garden Destroyer: Summon hundreds of Kilada little rabbits to rapidly devour organic matter.
Note: Each Kilada little rabbit possesses an innate spell—Minor Haste—usable once per day!
The little rabbits summoned by this spell held almost no practical combat value. While their ability to rapidly chew through organic matter could pose a threat to Apprentice-Level creatures, they were utterly useless in Formal-Level battles.
True to the spell’s name, it was originally invented by Grand Arcanist Kilada to help his apprentices clean up magical vegetable gardens. No one knew where Punk’s cheap parents had collected such an eccentric spell.
In Punk’s view, its main value lay in “research on large-scale summoning spell models.” After all, even the most useless spell invented by a Grand Arcanist was technically impeccable. However, he never imagined these little rabbits would become the stars of today’s battle.
“Quack? Quack quack quack, quack quack quack quack quack…………”
The moment the summoning spell was completed, an intricate gray summoning circle silently materialized in Punk’s hands. One gray rabbit after another leaped out from it.
Soon, the rabbits were everywhere. They looked no different from ordinary gray rabbits—same red eyes, split lips, and glossy, fine fur—only their calls were peculiar: quacks?
The moment they landed, the little rabbits began twitching their tiny noses and sniffing around. Truly worthy of the title “Garden Destroyer,” their eagerness and professionalism were commendable.
But Punk hadn’t summoned hundreds of noisy rabbits for them to act cute. He quickly commanded all the little rabbits to activate their only innate spell—Minor Haste.
The spell-activated rabbits immediately descended into chaos, transforming into blurry gray balls scurrying everywhere. Simultaneously, the mana fluctuations from the innate spells were detected by the troublesome metal shards.
These mana fluctuations weren’t particularly strong but were sufficiently “intense.” The mindless metal shards paused mid-air for a moment before abruptly scattering to chase the rabbits running amok on the ground.
“Kangkai, the metal shards weaken when dispersed. Destroy them now!”Punk loudly reminded Kangkai.
“Got it, no problem.”
Kangkai’s response was equally decisive. He immediately halted his fleeing motion and boldly activated his Combat Skills—Saw Wheel and Shock Blade.
Once again transforming into a Battle Aura chainsaw, Kangkai instantly cut through dozens of blurred trajectories. With the combined enhancement of “Saw Wheel” and “Shock Blade,” although the metal shards in his path weren’t directly severed, their energy circuits were destroyed, leaving them to tremble weakly in the air a few times before falling to the ground like ordinary iron pieces.
“As expected, the intensity has significantly decreased. If these metal shards weren’t dispersed, even a single Kinetic Crush wouldn’t be able to damage metal pieces with anti-magic enchantments!”
Punk pondered silently to himself.
He hadn’t acted immediately, and his purpose in urging Kangkai to attack was to verify his suspicions. Now, Kangkai’s success was sufficient proof—the Kilada bunny decoy tactic was highly effective!
However, Punk still had many questions about the combination of metal shards and the construct golem.
“These two things aren’t just different in ‘style’ anymore. Having an assassination-style tank can be explained by the designer being eccentric, but such technical flaws couldn’t possibly be intentional by the creator, right?”
Punk strongly suspected that the metal shards and the construct beast weren’t made by the same person. Their coordination was very stiff, basically each fighting on their own. The construct beast’s intelligence core clearly couldn’t keep up with the metal shards’ reaction speed, which was why these automatically attacking metal shards appeared so brainless without proper intelligence.
“Whatever, never mind that. Let’s deal with the enemy in front of us first!”
Although Punk suspected that this strange construct golem was closely related to the origins of Tisha Xia’er’s Legendary Equipment, he didn’t have time to investigate further now.
Kangkai’s speed in clearing the metal shards wasn’t particularly fast, but the metal shards’ efficiency in eliminating the Kilada bunnies was undeniable. Moreover, Bahanger’s battle was becoming increasingly strained.
The dwarf was still hammering the construct beast with increasingly heavy blows, but the energy of area-type construct golems was almost inexhaustible, while the dwarf’s Battle Aura was nearly depleted.
In fact, although the dwarf kept shouting:
“Come on, too light! Hitting me feels like tickling, so boring!”
In reality, Bahanger’s inner suffering was becoming evident. The Battle Aura armor on his body no longer shone as brightly as it did initially, and even his hammer showed some cracks.
However, the construct beast’s attacks showed no signs of weakening. Each strike from the massive creature could create shockwaves, gathering so much energy that it seeped out like mist from the gaps in its Alchemical Armor.
“Dammit, Punk, haven’t you dealt with the trouble over there yet? Old Bahanger isn’t a city wall—I can’t stand here forever!”
Bahanger spat while expressing his dissatisfaction. He had already sensed that Punk wasn’t pulling his weight, and the furious dwarf was extremely displeased with Punk. If he hadn’t promised to help block the construct beast, he would never have engaged in such a head-on confrontation with such a massive creature.
In truth, Punk indeed wasn’t contributing properly. His spell had long been completed, but he pretended to have difficulty constructing the spell matrix to buy time.Punk knew that although Bahanger and Kangkai appeared rather disheveled, they hadn’t used their trump cards yet. After all, they were powerhouses who had advanced to the formal rank centuries ago—who would believe they didn’t have some killer moves up their sleeves?
He had originally intended to force out at least some of their hidden cards, since these two would ultimately be enemies he must eliminate. But now it seemed he had to give up on that plan for the time being. If he delayed any further, his intentions would become too obvious. Before dealing with Tisha Xia’er, this team still needed to “cooperate wholeheartedly.”
So Punk perfunctorily responded to Bahanger with a few words before focusing on casting the spell in his hand.
