Chapter 149 – Adventure
Chapter 149 – Adventure
Bathed in divine radiance, Kangkai transformed into a flickering silhouette. Yet even in this state, as the green mist swept over him, his face contorted in agony. Even Punk, with his senses sealed, could perceive how Kangkai’s aura instantly weakened.
“He seems quite injured,”
Puck narrowed his eyes while scrutinizing Kangkai, mentally calculating the extent of the ranger’s diminished combat capability. Of course, he hadn’t forgotten about Bahanger either.
Bahanger’s defensive approach differed entirely from both Punk and Kangkai. Confronted by the menacing green mist, the irritable dwarf unleashed his long-suppressed rage without hesitation.
Having accumulated fury for an extended period, Bahanger now completely relinquished restraint over his violent emotions. In the next instant, the level-thirteen barbarian entered a fully frenzied state.
“ROAR!”
A deafening bellow erupted from Bahanger’s crimson throat. His skin glowed like scorching iron, radiating intense heat. Surging battle aura dyed his eyes molten gold, while his rapidly swelling muscles generated hurricane-force gusts with mere breaths. Twitching veins writhed beneath his skin like agitated serpents!
Yet these transformations alone proved insufficient against Tisha Xia’er’s emerald mist. The energy-infused vapor couldn’t be dispersed by brute force alone.
At the final second before the mist’s arrival, Bahanger activated another enchanted spell stored within his hammer.
Formal-Level Divine Spell – Moradin’s Iron Blessing: Moradin’s divine power summons a steel battle armor imbued with sacred energy.
Note: This armor’s defensive capability doubles against attacks from Master-Level or lower evil-aligned practitioners!
Now clad in divine armor, Bahanger appeared both majestic and unhinged. Vast quantities of battle aura traced esoteric patterns across the armor, forming mysterious magical arrays. Illuminated by these glowing circuits, the dwarf became a human torch dispersing the surrounding viridian mist as he charged toward Tisha Xia’er.
“GRAAAAAAH!”
Without wasting words, the frenzied dwarf brought his hammer crashing down against Tisha Xia’er’s cross-guarded limbs. The earth shattered beneath the impact, sending stone shrapnel flying like bullets. The compressed shockwave erupted with such force that it formed dust clouds resembling cotton explosions!
“Damnation! Damnation! Damnation! Why must you obstruct me? How dare you obstruct me!”
All traces of Tisha Xia’er’s initial arrogance had vanished, replaced by the hysterical fury of a scorned woman. To her horror, Bahanger’s strength now surpassed her own. The weighty hammer wrapped in dense battle aura was gradually bending her defensive limbs. Having lost two limbs to Kangkai’s blades, she couldn’t risk deploying more to counter the dwarf’s assault without compromising her balance.
After all, she wasn’t a genuine Master-Level entity. Facing relentless assaults from three Formal-Level combatants was taking its toll.
But Tisha Xia’er remained a boss monster – being suppressed was utterly unacceptable. She began mass-producing spiderlings while simultaneously recalling her dispersed mist.Indeed, the mist emanating from this creature could be recalled. All the dispersed fog throughout the stone chamber converged, forming over a dozen emerald-green daggers aimed directly at Bahanger’s back.
If struck by these highly toxic daggers, even Bahanger’s frenzied state wouldn’t save him from certain death.
But Punk would never let Tisha Xia’er’s scheme succeed. Now that the legendary equipment had been hidden inside Tisha Xia’er’s abdomen, Punk’s only path to claiming the spoils was to kill her. However, eliminating a level fourteen monster – even a deranged one – required Bahanger’s indispensable role as a meat shield.
No unnecessary words were exchanged. At this stage of the battle, no one had the mind for empty talk. Punk’s “Kinetic Stasis” spell served as the most fitting response to Tisha Xia’er.
Seeing her toxic mist daggers immobilized within the “Kinetic Stasis” field, Tisha Xia’er shot a venomous glare at Punk, looking as if she wanted to devour him whole. Yet she couldn’t bypass the formidable wall that was Bahanger.
“Damned dwarf! Keep your stinking hammer away from me!” Tisha Xia’er shrieked hysterically.
Meanwhile, Kangkai had emerged from his ethereal state, his pale face stern as he began recovering his Battle Aura. Tisha Xia’er grew increasingly desperate. Her advancement had been interrupted, the connection to faith power severed, leaving her unable to utilize those corrupt belief energies for defense. But desperation alone couldn’t defeat her opponents.
Under the combined full-force pressure from both Bahanger and Tisha Xia’er, the warhammer and Tisha Xia’er’s limbs began developing dense networks of cracks before shattering like broken glass, falling to the ground in jagged fragments.
Tisha Xia’er howled in agony as her limbs shattered. She had now lost four limbs, leaving only her pair of sharp fangs as primary weapons.
Though Bahanger had also lost his weapon after wielding the heavy hammer, the enraged dwarf showed no retreat. He lunged onto Tisha Xia’er, tearing at her carapace with his bare hands. His tremendous strength made the steel-hard chitin creak under the pressure. Bahanger clung desperately to Tisha Xia’er, ignoring how her venom corroded his skin.
“Perfect opportunity!”
Puck rejoiced inwardly. Bahanger’s frenzy was nearing its end, and Puck had been prepared to flee if the situation turned sour. But unexpectedly, the dwarf delivered one final surprise in his desperate state. Trapped in the barbarian’s embrace, Tisha Xia’er couldn’t move – enhanced by condensed Battle Aura, Bahanger weighed at least several dozen tons, and without faith power supporting her, Tisha Xia’er couldn’t break free.
Without hesitation, Puck first drew the dagger he’d obtained from the High Priest, then charged a “Inflict Greater Wound” spell, finally using his second “Anywhere Door” of the day.
This time, the portal opened directly behind Tisha Xia’er’s head!
For a mage, this approach was undoubtedly extremely dangerous – but what choice did Puck have? He could only resign himself to the risk.He had to seize the opportunity to kill Tisha Xia’er and ensure he was the first to touch her corpse, because Bahanger was about to regain consciousness. Though this dwarf was a bit slow-witted, he wasn’t foolish—if he got hold of Tisha Xia’er’s Wooden Box, he would never hand it over willingly.
If Bahanger were merely a simple berserker, it wouldn’t matter much; at worst, they’d just have to fight another battle, especially since Punk hadn’t expended much of his mana.
The key issue was that this guy’s daily mantra was “Moradin above.” Punk was genuinely afraid he might be a devout follower of Moradin. If pushed to the brink, he might resort to “Sacrificial Communication” (where Formal-Level devout believers below Master-Level could sacrifice a large amount of vitality and part of their soul to forcibly communicate with their deity for ten seconds). If that attracted Moradin’s attention, it would be disastrous.
So, even if it meant taking some risks, Punk resolutely decided to “snatch food from the tiger’s mouth.”
“Usually so cautious, yet now acting so recklessly—it seems I’m fundamentally a chaotic madman at heart.”
Puck muttered to himself helplessly.
But he wasn’t overly worried, because he still held one last card—today’s final use of the Anywhere Door!
