Chapter 437 – The Filthy Bird!
Chapter 437 – The Filthy Bird!
Perhaps because the River of Fate in the multiverse governs too broadly, or maybe due to other reasons, the powerful beings in this world—especially those not constantly pursuing higher realms—often remain extremely low-key. This principle holds true even for the Foul Bird.
It was precisely for this reason that when Punk cast the “Foul Divination” spell, just like when he cast spells in Doleiz City, the descent of a wisp of the Foul Bird’s consciousness lacked any spectacular entrance. The so-called light, shadows, and sounds didn’t even extend beyond the boundaries of Moye City.
In fact, if not for detecting the giant monstrous bird flying mid-air and sensing the deeply unsettling foul aura at the soul level, no one would have known from distant observation that such a powerful will had descended upon Punk’s call through an eerie divination spell.
“Ahahaha! Slaughter, evil, destruction—orderly cities burning in chaos, law-abiding fools turning into corpses, the virtuous falling into dust amid bloodshed, pure souls weeping within gems, pitiful kingdoms crumbling under the roar of spells… What a beautiful sight, what delightful chaos!”
Spouting its love for chaos and evil without restraint, a wisp of the Foul Bird’s projection laughed maniacally while spiraling through the air. Pungent gray-black mist wantonly drifted through the already ruined city, as filth and evil ran rampant across Moye City.
Seeing this large bird that was visually unsettling, even Kane, who considered himself “well-traveled,” was momentarily stunned. He turned to Punk and said:
“Hey, hey, isn’t this a bit too much? Is this the Foul Bird? This has to be the Foul Bird! Just a wisp of its projection can bring such chaotic presence—only a contract with the Eye of Judgment could compare.”
Though Kane was marveling at the Foul Bird’s descent, Punk had no time to entertain the knight. Maintaining the connection with the Foul Bird’s projection was draining Punk’s own mana, and he had no leisure to spectate like Kane.
Thus, Punk promptly and respectfully addressed the Foul Bird:
“Honorable Foul Bird, the splendor of chaos and evil has once again been cast upon the land, and the hypocrisy of order has been torn to shreds once more. Now, I require your assistance. My enemy is plotting a terrible scheme, so I wish to learn about a Level 19 Peak Spellcaster named Sosend Jess within this Raging Wave Desert.”
After stating his query, Punk fell silent, speaking no further. He knew the Bird of Filth would surely bring a satisfactory answer. Although this “order” of gaining benefits through sacrifice might greatly displease this chaos-craving being, Punk understood that for the Bird of Filth and the Eye of Judgment to exist in the multiverse as the “only God-Thrones,” they must have paid a heavy price. Following the “Eye of Judgment Contract” or “Foul Divination” was clearly one such cost. Thus, Punk wasn’t worried about this purely chaotic creature inexplicably breaking the agreement and failing to deliver.
Just as Punk had anticipated, after he posed his question, the Bird of Filth’s expression showed clear disgust and anger. The massive phantom of the monstrous bird flapped its wings incessantly in mid-air, while vast amounts of evil, bloody aura seemed to respond to the call of this Filth Sovereign, merging with the raging winds to sweep up sand and dust.
However, despite its loathing for the order of “Foul Divination,” the Bird of Filth did not refuse. After Punk finished his question, a trace of this great being’s consciousness reluctantly delivered a substantial amount of information directly into Punk’s mind.
“Fine, fine! Following that damned, ancient contract, you shall receive the intelligence you seek. And since both you and the knight beside you are practitioners of the chaotic alignment, I can provide some additional useful information. Hahahaha! The generous Bird of Filth will never be comparable to that rigid Eye of Judgment. So… embrace chaos, bring forth slaughter, praise evil, and summon me more frequently! When you immerse yourself in chaos, you shall obtain truly fearsome power in this world!”
After arrogantly delivering this seductive “monologue,” as Punk directly dispelled the spell, the Projection of the Bird of Filth slowly dissipated above the ruined city.
With the Bird of Filth’s departure, the whirlwinds in the city returned to dead silence and calm, leaving only the bloody scent lingering in the air where it had been tossed skyward.
“Wow! That was so~ cool, my old friend. I never knew you had such skills. Spells of this level are rarely even seen.”
Watching Punk complete his casting, Kane’s eyes flickered with an unreadable gleam. Though Punk paid him no mind, the knight clearly didn’t care about his attitude.
Kane always wore a mask of carefree cheerfulness, but no one could possibly know what thoughts lay hidden beneath it. Even now, Punk couldn’t decipher what his meaningful exclamation truly represented.
However, regardless of what Kane might be contemplating, Punk remained entirely indifferent.
With multiple layers of magical protection active, even though his mana was somewhat depleted, Punk felt no fear toward a burst-damage knight like Kane. Moreover, they still had significant room for cooperation—at least until they encountered Sorsend, he didn’t anticipate any conflict with Kane.
Thus, facing Kane’s inexplicable admiration, Punk maintained his usual three-no policy: “No acknowledgment, no inquiry, no response.”As it turned out, for someone like Kane who particularly enjoyed making conversation out of nothing and extracting information through chatter, an iceberg like Punk who remained utterly silent was his greatest nemesis. After gesticulating wildly while spouting a stream of nonsense without eliciting even a hint of reaction from Punk, even Kane could only awkwardly fall silent.
Meanwhile, Punk—who had outright ignored Kane’s lamentations—was seizing the moment to examine the information delivered by the Filthy Bird.
After all, Sorsend was merely a Master-Level mage. In the eyes of the Filthy Bird, his intelligence was practically equivalent to being completely unguarded.
Moreover, perhaps the Filthy Bird was genuinely more generous than the Eye of Judgment. The information it provided Punk could truly be described as both abundant and detailed. However, Punk had no intention of sharing all the intelligence with Kane. Thus, he needed to review all the information in the shortest time possible, then feign an appearance of “having little intelligence, with few useful pieces” to appease the knight beside him.
