Chapter 438 – Intelligence

Chapter 438 – Intelligence

The information Punk obtained from the Foul Divination about Sorsend could be divided into two parts. The first part concerned Sorsend’s own strength, while the second… was about the traps Sorsend had set.

After being organized by the System, the recorded information was presented as follows:

Name: Sorsend-Omraken-Jace

Class: Mage

Level: 19

Age: 4,969 years

Status: Corrupted by Abyssal Energy

Primary Specialization: Mind Magic, Summoning Magic

Secondary Specialization: Alchemy Magic

Mastered Metamagic: Spell Guidance (consumes mana to alter a spell’s trajectory after casting)

Proficient Master-Level Spells:

Summoning Magic – Summon Blood Fiend

Summoning Magic – Griffin’s Eye

Mind Magic – Dream Traveler

Mind Magic – Mosa’s Heart of Terror

Mind Magic – Mind Shattering Storm

Primary Magic Equipment:

Master-Level Staff – Staff of Lament and Hatred (primary enchantments: “Lamenting Howl,” “Touch of Chaos”)

Magical Companion:

A practice creation of the Legendary Mage Ofelaka – the Magical Alchemical Raven “Vector”

(Primary ability: Casts the Legendary Conjuration Spell – Directional Interference)

Recent Plans and Objectives:

Lure the knight who arrived in the Raging Wave Desert, the fugitive Ovakain from the Hoth Mountains, and the mage from the Thought of Truth into a trap to eliminate them all. Then, sacrifice the souls of five powerful individuals—including the female ranger Zola, Tandak the King of the Huaibien Kingdom, Ovakain Acidmaw, an unknown Master-Level Mage, and an unknown Master-Level Knight—to obtain research resources and advance to the Legendary rank before his lifespan expires.

Trap Setup – The Frenzied Sub-Lord:

Temporarily open a channel sufficient for the projection of a Demon Sub-Lord to descend, conceal himself using a magic circle, and then use the souls of five Master-Level experts to tempt the greedy demon into attacking, thereby eliminating five powerful enemies at once while collecting Abyssal energy imbued with the power of a projection’s laws!

It had to be admitted that Foul Divination was practically a form of cheating in its own right. Using this spell in combat was as efficient as playing a shooter game with wallhacks. If not for its terrifying side effects and high difficulty of use (requiring corpse fragments of a being of equivalent strength to the caster as material components), its power would drive any mage below the Legendary rank to madness.

Especially when such a spell was wielded by a knowledgeable mage, the transparency of intelligence it provided was far more impactful than a simple one-plus-one effect.

And now, it was clear that Punk was an exceedingly “knowledgeable” spellcaster!

When Punk saw the strength of this Level 19 Master-Level Mage, he truly felt that using Foul Divination this time was absolutely the right decision. Because… based on the brief descriptions, he quickly judged that Sorsend’s strength was likely no less than Ovakain at his peak.

Putting everything else aside, the fact that this individual possessed metamagic alone was deeply alarming. No one understood the terror of metamagic better than Punk, a mage skilled in employing two such techniques. The saying, “When a mage without metamagic faces a peer who wields it, fleeing is always the first option unless they possess powerful hidden trump cards,” perfectly illustrated the immense advantage these skills provided.

Even more frightening was that while possessing one metamagic ability, Sorsend’s equipment was outrageously powerful. For instance, that Master-level staff solidified with two offensive spells—just by analyzing these spells, Punk could conclude that Sorsend’s staff was undoubtedly superior to his own Master-level Robe.

As for that raven capable of casting Legendary-tier spells…

Punk thought—this was simply cheating! Although intel indicated this Magical Alchemical Raven was a “practice piece” by a Legendary Mage, it still possessed the ability to cast Legendary-level spells. Even if they were auxiliary in nature without direct lethality, combined with Sorsend’s arsenal of spells like “Mind Shattering Storm,” “Griffin’s Eye,” and “Mosa’s Heart of Terror,” it was terrifying. At least without prior knowledge, Punk believed he stood no chance in a one-on-one fight.

Then there were the insane traps Sorsend had prepared… Summoning a Demon Sub-Lord’s Projection at the slightest provocation was already absurdly frightening. After all, it was a Sub-Lord’s Projection. Although it couldn’t wield any Legendary-tier power in the Faerûn Plane, even weakened, a Legendary creature’s projection was equivalent to a super turret with infinite mana, stamina, and health.

In other words, once this Sub-Lord’s Projection was summoned, unless the array’s maintainer Sorsend died, no number of Master-Level experts would be enough to defeat this invincible projection.

With all these formidable methods, it was no wonder Sorsend dared to challenge three Master-Level experts with such a trap.

However… despite knowing Sorsend’s strength, Punk still revealed a confident smile.

No matter how many tricks Sorsend had, as long as he remained a Master-Level mage and his intel was fully exposed, Punk feared him not. After all, no amount of means could compare to the dread of the “unknown.”” For Sorsend now, Punk was a complete “unknown enemy,” while for Punk… Sorsend’s trump cards were laid bare before him!

In Punk’s eyes, Sorsend was not only a “boss” who could provide abundant precious resources and Magic Equipment but also a perfect opportunity to kill Ovakain and even trap Kane.

“A prepared mage is always the greatest nightmare for any foe. Now, it’s time to uphold this splendid truth once more.”

With a confident, cold smirk, Punk flew down from the mountain of corpses without looking back.”Hey, hey, what about the intel? You should share a bit, we’re supposed to be comrades, aren’t we?”

Seeing Punk completely ignore him and about to leave, Kane’s expression froze as he shouted almost hysterically.

Hearing Kane’s yelling as he chased after him, Punk, who was nearly out of Moye City, paused his steps slightly.

You can’t make a horse run without letting it eat. Thinking it over, if this guy Kane charged into battle knowing nothing and got instantly killed by the enemy, it wouldn’t be good for him either. Punk decided to share a bit of intel with Kane.

But just as Punk was about to speak, he slowly turned his head and suddenly faced Kane’s annoying expression, plastered with an exaggerated grin…

“Forget it, let this guy go die then.”

Instantly changing his mind, Punk immediately withdrew the already prepared information packet for transmission, replacing it with only a bland remark:

“Zola’s been captured!”

“…That’s it? Just that? Are you fucking kidding me?”

“That’s all. Believe it or not!”
