Chapter 16: Pig-Faced Butcher (Part Two)
Chapter 16: Pig-Faced Butcher (2)
Volume 1 “Year of Calamity”
“Meat~~ meat~~ want meat!”
Seeing the humans inside the cargo container through the breach, the pig-faced monster let out a joyful howl. This time it wasn’t just a single word, but a complete phrase. This indicated that this monster not only possessed formidable strength, but also had a certain level of intelligence, at least comparable to a human child of four or five years old.
The pig-faced monster reached one hand into the cargo container, causing the people inside to scream in chaotic panic. A woman in her forties failed to dodge in time and was caught around the waist by the monster’s giant palm, dragged directly out of the container. No matter how she struggled or cried for help, it was all in vain.
The woman’s slender body was like a small chicken before the monster, especially her terrified screams which seemed to further stimulate the pig-faced monster’s desire to feed.
With just one bite, half of the woman’s body was directly bitten off. The remaining lower half still twitched in the monster’s hand, as if appealing to heaven about the injustice of the world. Blood mixed with fragments of internal organs and flesh flowed down the monster’s thick arms like a waterfall.
The pig-faced monster didn’t seem particularly interested in the human lower body, casually discarding the woman’s remaining lower half before thrusting its thick arm back into the container to search for the next prey. The fresh blood and flesh drove the surrounding zombies into a frenzied scramble, with more ordinary zombies gathering around.
A middle-aged man with short hair was the first to react, barely dodging the giant hand reaching for him as he moved to the rear of the container. Staying in the container meant waiting to become canned meat for the monster – they had to escape!
The container had become somewhat deformed from the impact, making the rear door impossible to open properly. The middle-aged man used all his strength to ram against the cargo container’s rear door. His actions made the nearby people realize what was happening, and they began joining him in battering the door.
Although the reinforced iron door of the cargo container had become deformed and might not withstand the enormous monster outside, for ordinary people it remained a nearly insurmountable barrier! It must be said that humans can unleash tremendous potential in moments of crisis – several people actually managed to force open the deformed iron door using only their physical strength. But were they really safe after escaping the cargo container?
The answer was certainly negative. Outside the container, besides the terrifying pig-faced monster, more zombies had surrounded the area. They had nowhere to escape!
The middle-aged man was the first to rush out, and consequently became the first to be surrounded by the ordinary zombies gathered around the container. Before he could react, a zombie bit his shoulder, its powerful jaws tearing off a large chunk of flesh. The intense pain made the man let out a hysterical scream.
The scent of human blood made the surrounding zombies even more ferocious. For these living dead who had lost consciousness and retained only their feeding instincts, flesh and blood were the source and motivation of their existence. More nearby zombies were drawn over – these survivors clearly had no way to escape.
An Sheng, who had been thrown about and was still disoriented, had just crawled out of the driver’s cabin when the enormous pig-head monster gave him a fright. Only when the monster smashed open the cargo container and began eating people did he finally snap back to reality. This was the second time he had directly confronted a mutated monster. The first time, he had been nearly beaten to death in their initial clash. Later, he had killed many monsters in an unconscious state, but since it was done without awareness, he had no memory of it at all.
Moreover, this monster was clearly not on the same level as those in the tube-style apartment building. Whether in size or strength, even if all the mutated monsters from the apartment building were gathered together, they would likely be no match for this enormous Pig-Head Monster. Just look at the cleaver in its hand—the blade was over two meters long, thick and broad, weighing at least two to three hundred jin, yet it wielded it as effortlessly as a kitchen knife. It was utterly insane.
“Xiao An, transform quickly! It’s eating people!” Just as An Sheng was spacing out, Butcher climbed out of the driver’s cabin. During the rollover, his head had hit the protective bar outside the window, and bright red blood was now seeping out. But he had no time to worry about his head—there were still many of his neighbors and friends in the back compartment.
Transform—yes, how could an ordinary person hope to fight such a monster? Only then did An Sheng remember that he could transform! Ultimately, he hadn’t fully shaken off his ordinary human mindset. In situations like this, he always forgot he had the ability to become a powerful warrior.
Pulling a folding knife from his pocket, An Sheng took a deep breath, steeled himself, and stabbed it into his thigh.
The entire blade sank deep into his thigh, the intense pain making him tremble uncontrollably. But the next moment, a tremendous force erupted from his brain and rapidly spread throughout his body. The demon horns on his forehead grew at a visible rate, and his physique swelled dramatically. His shirt tore apart under the immense power, and a bloody mist began to emanate from his entire body. An Sheng’s demon form was officially activated!
After transforming, the temperature of the bloody mist surrounding An Sheng’s body rose sharply, distorting the surrounding air. Small whirlwinds swept through the space, and the powerful wind pressure pushed Butcher back several steps.
The Pig-Head Monster also sensed the threat from nearby. It dropped the person it was about to bring to its mouth and raised its massive cleaver, confronting the transformed An Sheng.
Its beast-like perception told the Pig-Head Monster that this small figure was no ordinary foe, especially with the dense mist emanating from his body—a power similar to its own.
“Roar~~!” The Pig-Head Monster let out a intimidating roar at An Sheng. With that roar, an identical bloody mist began to swirl around its body, even denser than An Sheng’s!
An Sheng felt an immense threat from this monster, a sensation he had never experienced when facing zombies. This feeling grew especially intense when he saw the bloody mist enveloping the monster.
An Sheng had always suspected that the bloody mist his body emitted after transforming was not ordinary. Now, he finally understood what it represented. The density of the bloody mist could directly determine the strength of a mutated creature.”You… better… meat!” The Pig-Head Monster actually managed to utter a complete sentence, though broken. The meaning behind those words made it clear—An Sheng was being treated as food!
“If you want to eat me, you’d better have the teeth for it!”
After his transformation, the immense power was simultaneously affecting An Sheng’s mind. The originally timid him was now completely a different person—a cold-blooded, bloodthirsty, and brutal Demon!
An Sheng’s contemptuous gaze thoroughly enraged the Pig-Head Monster. This was the first time it had encountered an opponent on equal footing. Ever since gaining consciousness, no creature in this area could rival it; it was the undisputed ruler here. All living humans had been devoured by it, and the nearby Mutated Creatures had either been smashed into pulp or fled with their tails between their legs.
That this short figure dared to provoke it filled the monster with immense fury. It resolved to tear this little one into pieces with its own hands and devour him chunk by chunk, because a subconscious voice was telling it that consuming this small figure would make it even stronger!
