Chapter 17: Pig-Faced Butcher (Part Three)

Chapter 17: Pig-Faced Butcher (3)

Volume 1 “Year of Calamity”

The Pig-Head Monster took the initiative, brandishing its over-two-meter-long Cleaver as it charged toward An Sheng, who had transformed into his Demon Form. The monster’s massive body resembled a heavy tank running at full throttle! No matter how confident An Sheng was in his transformed state, he dared not confront this Mutated Monster head-on.

Dodging the Pig-Head Monster’s frontal assault with a swift sidestep, An Sheng quickly sprinted into the distance. The Pig-Head Monster’s strength and size were terrifying – if they fought near the truck, he couldn’t guarantee the safety of the neighbors inside the cargo container.

An Sheng didn’t know how many of the thirty-plus neighbors in the truck would survive. Even if he managed to stall this monster, the approaching Zombies posed a grave threat to the survivors in the container. But he had no time to help them clear the Zombies now – An Sheng’s current situation was dire enough that he could barely protect himself!

An Sheng could sense this Pig-Head Monster was extraordinary, but facing it directly made him realize he had still underestimated its power. Its enormous frame and bulky belly undoubtedly gave it the advantage in strength.

An Sheng thought that since he was outmatched in strength, he could rely on his agility and speed to counter it. But who would have thought this seemingly clumsy monster possessed remarkable speed and reflexes!

“Damn it! This isn’t scientific! Novels and TV shows don’t play out like this!” An Sheng narrowly avoided the Cleaver sweeping over his head, complaining inwardly about the disparity between reality and his expectations.

An Sheng had tested his speed and strength after transformation – in Demon Form, his speed could surpass that of a car at full throttle. Though he hadn’t measured the exact numbers, he could definitely reach speeds over 200 km/h. Comparing this monster’s physique to his own was like comparing a large truck to a compact car.

It was like driving a BMW at over 180 km/h on the highway, only to have a semi-truck suddenly accelerate to catch up and even potentially overtake you – the sheer impossibility of it was staggering.

Dodging another Cleaver attack from behind, An Sheng rolled under an abandoned vehicle and emerged from the other side. He was genuinely provoked – this was the first time since transforming into Demon Form that he’d been chased so frantically. Yanking open the passenger door of the abandoned vehicle, he exerted force and tore the door clean off!

Using the car door as a shield on his left arm, An Sheng pushed off powerfully with both legs, propelling himself into the air. This leap carried him over seven meters high, landing directly on the roof of a two-story building beside the street.

If An Sheng was at a disadvantage, it wasn’t really about strength or speed. His greatest weakness was his lack of combat experience.

This wasn’t really his fault – he’d never even been in a fight since childhood, let alone life-or-death battles. Though he’d killed many Zombies recently, that level of combat compared to his current situation could only be described as child’s play.

Moreover, he didn’t even have a proper weapon, while the Pig-Head Monster not only surpassed him in strength but matched his speed, and to make matters worse, it had that massive Saber. An Sheng leaped onto this small European-style building, its roof adorned with metal ornaments. He had chosen this spot precisely for these features, which included iron railings resembling javelins—exactly the kind of weapon he needed now.

The moment he steadied himself, An Sheng tore off one of the railing javelins and, without a second thought, hurled it straight at the Pig-Head Monster’s head. After days of killing zombies, his subconscious had conditioned him to target opponents’ heads as the primary strike point.

Propelled by An Sheng’s immense strength, the railing javelin tore through the air with a piercing shriek, striking the Pig-Head Monster’s neck like a fired bullet. The sharp spearhead pierced clean through its throat!

To the Pig-Head Monster, the injury was minor, but the humiliation was immense! Initially, it had considered the small figure a worthy opponent, but then the other party didn’t dare confront it head-on, instead being chased around and utterly toyed with, never even getting a chance to fight back!

Gradually, the Pig-Head Monster had let its guard down. Who would have thought it wouldn’t land a single blow on its foe, only to end up wounded in the neck?

“Roar! I’m going to… eat… you… roar!”

The Pig-Head Monster yanked out the javelin and roared furiously at An Sheng on the rooftop. An Sheng was equally frustrated—he had aimed for the monster’s head, yet at such close range, he’d missed. Now he had provoked the wild boar, making it even harder to deal with.

Not giving An Sheng another chance to strike, the Pig-Head Monster flung its massive Cleaver like a throwing knife at him. With the intellect of a human toddler, the monster’s reasoning was simple: if you hit me, I hit you back. Right now, its thought process was just that—you threw something at me, so I’ll throw my big blade at you!

The enormous Cleaver spun through the air, tearing through the atmosphere. Its speed was so overwhelming that An Sheng had no time to dodge; he could only use the car door in his left hand as a shield to protect himself.

With a thunderous “boom,” An Sheng was sent flying backward. The tremendous impact launched him over ten meters, slamming him into the wall of another building. The collision cracked the wall, scattering cement debris everywhere. The car door shield in his left hand was completely deformed, and so was his entire left arm.

The Pig-Head Monster’s powerful attack had caused an open fracture in An Sheng’s left arm—the broken bone piercing through the skin, exposed to the air.

“I. Fuck. Your. Grandpa!” An Sheng cursed through the pain!

This was the first time An Sheng had been injured in his Demon Form! Deep purple blood dripped from the exposed bone onto the ground, the intense pain making his brain feel oxygen-deprived.

An Sheng’s mind grew hazy. The agony and the scent of blood caused the suppressed violent and bloodthirsty consciousness within him to rapidly swell, teetering on the brink of eruption. This meant his human rationality was about to lose control over the body—Demon An Sheng was poised to take over!In a daze, An Sheng once again entered that familiar dream. In the mirror within the dream, his reflection with demonic horns sprouting from its head wore a mocking smile directed at the being outside the glass.

“Coward! Worthless! Entrusting this body to your control is nothing short of an insult to it!” The Demon in the mirror looked down on An Sheng with contempt, scolding him disdainfully.

An Sheng felt somewhat indignant, yet the other’s words held truth. He could only brace himself and retort, “I don’t know how to fight, and if you’re so capable, why don’t you take over!”

Unlike the first time he entered this dream, An Sheng subconsciously no longer feared the Demon in the mirror. He knew it was merely another version of himself.

“Worthless coward! Let me show you what true combat is!” The demonic image in the mirror vanished in a flash.

Everything that occurred in the dream lasted only a fleeting moment in reality. An Sheng felt the world spin around him as his consciousness returned to his physical body. But in the next instant, he discovered his body moving on its own, beyond his control. The sensation was peculiar—how to describe it? It was as if he could feel every part of his body yet remained a mere bystander, unable to issue any commands.

An Sheng’s body used its right hand to forcibly shove the broken bone of his left forearm back into the muscle, then realigned the fractured bone through the flesh. The consequence was excruciating pain that sent An Sheng’s consciousness into spasms, yet he remained powerless to intervene.

The body’s remarkable regenerative abilities kicked into gear. The wound began to heal at a visible pace, and An Sheng could distinctly feel the broken bone mending, accompanied by a warm, itching sensation that was unmistakably clear.
