Chapter 18 – LV.Two Angel Girl Seo Yun – [Four]

The man and woman hadn’t gone far yet.

The two were hiding in a hut near the fields of Happy Village. It seemed to be to avoid the eyes of the guards on patrol, but they couldn’t evade Magic Spells. The swaying necklace was announcing their presence.

Seo Yun approached the front of the hut and spoke.

“Hey, you’re in there.”

No answer came back. Seo Yun continued.

“Here, take this.”

Seo Yun placed a leather backpack on the ground and then took a few steps back to create distance.

A moment later, the door opened, revealing the girl’s face. The girl’s eyes widened upon seeing the leather backpack.

“So she did take it after all!”

The girl shouted, and the man came out of the hut. The man looked down at the leather backpack, then raised his head and directed his gaze toward Seo Yun.

The man spoke with suspicion.

“You’re returning it?”

Seo Yun said.

“The contents were a bit excessive. I just wanted to get my Provisions back and mess with you a little, you know? I didn’t want to take your entire fortune.”

The girl opened her mouth wide and asked.

“You’re returning it even after seeing what’s inside?”

“I can tell it’s some kind of amazing bag and that there are a lot of impressive things inside, but I don’t want to cause unnecessary trouble by trying to keep it. So take it.”

She didn’t know whether those precious items were stolen from somewhere or belonged to some major power. Either way, recklessly claiming them seemed like it would lead to troublesome matters. Moreover, even though they were the bullies who had shaken her down, completely seizing their entire fortune was an uncomfortable act.

This seemed to be an unbelievable event for the person receiving the returned items. The man turned the leather backpack upside down to check its contents and groaned.

“Looks like everything’s roughly here…”

“Would I skim something off if I’m returning it? If you’re suspicious, go ahead and check.”

At Seo Yun’s words, the man looked at her.

“This backpack and the items inside—who else besides you knows about them?”

“No one besides me knows, why?”

“We can’t let it get out that we have this. Are you sure no one else besides you knows?”

The man’s gaze from within his Helm was menacing, but Seo Yun scoffed. That Orc used to emit some kind of ultra-low-frequency curse every time it tried to intimidate; compared to that creature, this human’s glare was nothing.

“So what? You gonna kill me to shut me up?”

“What if I do?”

“Try it, go ahead.”

The man glared at Seo Yun, then abruptly shifted his gaze away. He finished checking the items and reluctantly acknowledged the truth.

“Everything’s here.”

The man began stuffing the items back into the leather backpack.

The girl hugged the backpack, which remained unchanged in volume even after all the items were inside, and began to sob.

“I wanted to just die if I lost this…!”

Seo Yun had to pry the girl away as she sobbed, saying she was so grateful and that she was really sorry about yesterday.

Even then, the girl was still crying. Since she was clearly in no state for conversation, Seo Yun looked at the man and asked.

“So, we’re even now, right?”

At Seo Yun’s question, the man answered reluctantly.

“Yeah.”

“Then take care. Next time we meet, don’t try to shake me down again.”

Seo Yun said that and turned around. She was about to head back to the village.

The girl, who seemed to have just stopped crying, shouted from behind.

“Wait a moment!”

“Huh?”

Seo Yun turned to look, and the girl rummaged through the backpack and pulled out a sword. It was one of the items from the backpack.

The girl held it out to Seo Yun and said.

“Here, I’ll give you this…”

“Is this a thank-you gift?”

At Seo Yun’s question, the girl nodded vigorously.

“Yeah, it’s a Magic Sword!”

Seo Yun took the sword and laughed inwardly. For bullies who shake people down, they sure have a commendable side.

“What kind of Magic is on it?”

“I don’t know either… Ask the village Mage here to use an Appraisal Spell to find out what kind of item it is.”

“You’re giving it to me without even knowing what it is?”

“Well, that’s true, but at least it’s not trash! Look at this. See the divine symbol?”

Seo Yun looked and saw that there was indeed a symbol engraved on the pommel. It was the same symbol engraved on her own necklace.

“It’s the symbol of the Hearth Goddess.”

The girl explained proudly.

“It’s an Artifact! It operates permanently without needing a separate soul charge. As long as the Goddess who enchanted this item doesn’t die.”

The girl emphasized that she was absolutely not handing over a useless item, that even though she didn’t know what Spell was on it, it was definitely a good item and could very well be a jackpot.

Seo Yun drew the sword from its scabbard. The moment the blade left the scabbard, an intensely bright red light source, enough to dizzy her vision, appeared right before her eyes.

A crimson flame burning fiercely red. It was blazing along the blade.

It was so bright it hurt to look at. Seo Yun closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them.

“Huh?”

The girl also blinked and looked at the sword Seo Yun had drawn. Even the man, who had been pretending not to care and looking elsewhere just moments before, was now directing his gaze this way.

The flames blazing along the blade were captured in everyone’s eyes. Looking at the continuously burning sword, Seo Yun thought.

With an effect this obvious, you didn’t know what kind of Magic Sword it was?

Still unable to take her eyes off the sword, the girl muttered.

“When we drew it, nothing happened at all?”

Seo Yun sheathed the sword again. The girl took it and drew it, and sure enough, no fire appeared from the blade at all. The girl handed the sword to the man.

“Siwoo, you try it too!”

The man also drew the sword from its scabbard, but it was the same. Only when Seo Yun gripped the sword again did flames blaze along the blade.

“What is this? Are there separate usage conditions?”

While the girl was bewildered, Seo Yun thought about what Spell was on this sword.

A Mage’s flame enchantment? No. That just heats the sword red-hot; it doesn’t create flames like this. Then, what else is in the Rulebook…

“This seems like the Flaming Sword Spell.”

The girl understood Seo Yun’s words too.

“Flaming Sword Spell? That’s probably…”

“It’s a Hearth Priest Third-Tier Spell.”

Seo Yun could recall more detailed information.

The Hearth Priest’s Third-Tier Spell, meaning a Spell that a Hearth Priest can only learn upon reaching Level 5. The sword enchanted with the Spell bursts into flames, but since it’s not a Party Buff, it can only bestow flames upon the Priest’s own sword. The Priest Lady in the village had said that, for a Hearth Priest who can’t even wear armor being forced to fight enemies at close range, it has an oddly high power, right? She also recalled that the spell’s power is proportional to the Priest’s Mental Stat, and as the Priest’s Level increases, the power continues to grow.

‘It was probably a spell they wouldn’t teach Hearth Priests in the village, wasn’t it? Damage or whatever, better to learn a different spell than to die in close combat wearing cloth clothes…’

She decided to test just how great that power was.

Seo Yun brought the blade, blazing with flame, to a stone on the ground. The girl was surprised to see the stone touching the sword immediately melt.

“It’s really strong?”

Seo Yun was also expressionlessly surprised.

The girl stared at the sword for a while, then suddenly asked.

“Anyway, since you can use a Magic Sword too, by any chance, are you also a Player? Now that I think about it, you were good with a sword last time.”

“That’s right. I almost minced that piece of shit.”

As the man seemed to bristle and look this way, the girl asked.

“Oh… what’s your class?”

Seo Yun answered.

“Priest.”

For some reason, the girl’s eyes sparkled.

“Really?”

“But why?”

The girl moved her steps and stood behind Seo Yun. Seo Yun, not understanding, turned her head. The girl standing behind her back said with a laugh.

“Want a massage?”

“What is your esteemed name, Priest Sir?”

“Seo Yun.”

“My, how fitting that your name is as beautiful as your appearance…”

Listening to the girl’s flattery, Seo Yun thought. When she heard such praise from men, it didn’t feel good, but hearing it from a girl wasn’t so bad.

“Siwoo, you come and massage Priest Sir too! Are you going to make me massage alone?”

At the girl’s words, the man also hesitantly approached and began massaging Seo Yun’s shoulders. Seo Yun didn’t know why this punk couple was acting like this, but she let them be for now.

“Why are your shoulders so hard? Sir Seo Yun, your muscles are knotted!”

“That’s bone.”

“Sir Seo Yun, your bones are knotted!”

As the girl continued to make a fuss, Seo Yun, enjoying the situation, thought. What request are they going to make to be acting so sycophantic?

Trying hard not to show off too much, she asked.

“Heal me?”

The girl shook her head. She shook it so vigorously that Seo Yun could feel the motion even though the girl was behind her.

“No!”

“Then light a fire at the campsite? I can’t maintain it for long, but I can make it last about three days.”

“That’s not it either! It’s just… I have a proposal to make.”

“A proposal?”

“Priest Sir, don’t you want to earn more Experience Points?”

At the girl’s words, Seo Yun raised one eyebrow.

“Experience Points?”

“We saw a Monster on our way here. It’s not exactly an easy one, but it seemed like we could somehow manage to catch it. Still, hunting while distressed seemed like someone might get seriously hurt, so we left it for now, but since Priest Sir is here, if you join us… hmm?”
