Chapter 19 – LV.Two Angel Girl Seo Yun – [Five]
As the girl giggled, Seo Yun considered her proposal.
It wasn’t a sensible suggestion. In games, it might be fine to accept anyone with a similar level as a companion, but this was reality. You couldn’t entrust your life to just anyone. In the village, they required at least half a year of training together before undertaking your first real mission.
And now she was being asked to team up with two people she’d met under rather unpleasant circumstances?
“Let me make something clear—I’m a Hearth Priest.”
At Seo Yun’s words, the girl exclaimed.
“That’s amazing!”
Seo Yun sighed and continued.
“What that means is, the moment I die, all twenty-eight fires I’ve lit in the village will go out simultaneously, triggering a village-wide emergency. Players would pour out of Happy Village and cast Heavenly Net, right?”
“What’s Heavenly Net… Anyway, so what?”
“If you’re doing this because I found out you’re carrying a bunch of valuable stuff and you want to silence me… I mean, if you’re planning to take me somewhere else and ‘dispose’ of me, you should stop.”
“That’s absolutely not it! Why would you worry about something so scary?”
As the girl waved her hands, Seo Yun thought. Why? Because you can’t feel at ease around a lunatic who tried to shoot you dead on the spot, thinking you looked like a soldier.
Seeing Seo Yun still hadn’t agreed, the girl seemed frustrated. She urgently reached into her backpack and said.
“If you help us hunt… I’ll give you this too, okay?”
The girl pulled out a belt from her backpack and continued.
“Look, this belt! If you wear it, you get 10% more experience points? This is really good…”
Seo Yun was startled. More experience points?
It was certainly an item she needed…
But she had been staying silent, afraid that showing interest might be taken as agreement.
The girl draped the belt over Seo Yun’s poncho on her own, then clapped her hands exaggeratedly.
“It suits you perfectly! Here, now it’s yours!”
The man glanced over and furrowed his brow inside his helm.
“Why are you giving it to her already?”
“Because she seems trustworthy! If she were the type to take this and run, would she have returned all our belongings?”
The man didn’t verbally agree or nod at her words, but his demeanor seemed to affirm the opinion. He was silently staring right at them.
Seo Yun also glanced at the man. He seemed displeased with her, yet he wasn’t directly opposing her participation. So did he want her to join as well? Or perhaps…
Seo Yun was lost in thought for a moment before speaking.
“Is that monster far away?”
Taking it as de facto agreement, the girl answered cheerfully.
“No, it’s close!”
“Then… can I go to the village to report the situation and come back?”
This time, the man answered.
“Do as you please.”
Soon, Seo Yun began walking toward the village. As she walked, she thought. It really wasn’t a bad proposal.
Didn’t she have a reason to level up as quickly as possible?
First, she needed to reach that damn Level 3 to escape her current suffocating party. Seo Yun hadn’t openly shown it, but being with Park Taeyang’s gang and Seong Juri, who disliked her, was torture.
And also, she needed to reach Level 3 to leave this village safely.
Before her Class Change, Seo Yun’s plan was to become a Warrior, gain the +1 Strength Stat bonus, and then leave. If she had received the Warrior’s stat bonus, Seo Yun would have obtained strength slightly below the average adult male’s, enough to defend herself.
But in the end, Seo Yun became a Priest, which was one reason she was reluctant to leave the village immediately.
Seo Yun recalled the man from earlier and frowned. Unconsciously, these words slipped out. With her original body, she could have subdued a guy like that barehanded…
Horrifyingly, with this body’s muscle strength, she would even lose to such a novice swordsman. Thinking about it again, it was an infuriating, maddening situation.
But even as a Priest now, she didn’t have to remain a complete weakling.
Typically, Priests in TRPGs, unlike MMORPG Priests, also possess excellent combat prowess themselves. The same goes for Priests in the Immortal Kingdom.
So, what if a Priest reaches Level 3? The Priest gains new Spells. And among the newly acquired Spells, there is one that compensates for her currently lacking Strength Stat.
‘Priest 2nd-level Spell, Heroism… Temporarily sets Strength Stat to 8.’
Additionally, she would gain various other Spell abilities, and her currently pitifully lacking Combat Power would increase dramatically. Once that happened, she would be capable of leaving the village alone.
Seo Yun thought.
She hadn’t yet decided whether to leave this village or stay. But when the decision was made, wouldn’t it be necessary to be prepared to leave at any time?
Having entered the village and returned, Seo Yun said.
“Alright, let’s go.”
The girl laughed heartily. In a tone clearly meant to sound pleasing, she said.
“Wow, a Priest in our party? Unbelievable!”
Seo Yun almost said she was only joining for this hunt but stopped herself.
‘If this hunt goes well, maybe I could do it once more. Perhaps even two or three more times…’
Even if she didn’t officially join the party, helping out a few times might cover the cost of the belt. And if she could earn experience points in the process, it was definitely a gain.
Seo Yun quickly organized her thoughts and spoke.
“It’ll be completely dark soon. If we’re going hunting, let’s go quickly. If time passes, the monster might move from its spotted location.”
“Yeah, yeah!”
In the end, the three of them left the village and began walking.
Seo Yun kept in mind the possibility of them attacking, but they showed no signs of it. The man walked a bit stiffly, but the girl walked ahead cheerfully, leading the way.
Seo Yun had never seen a girl more energetic than her. Unconsciously feeling her tension ease, she asked.
“Let’s introduce ourselves first. What are your names?”
The girl introduced the man before herself.
“He’s Siwoo. Han Siwoo! A Warrior, Level 3!”
Seo Yun looked at Han Siwoo and frowned. That greenhorn was a higher level than her? It was displeasing.
This time, Seo Yun looked at the girl and asked.
“Then you are?”
“Me? Gaeulbi, Level 3!”
“Pretty name. Class?”
“Martial Artist!”
Seo Yun doubted her ears.
“What?””Martial Artist!”
Seo Yun was so utterly astonished that she looked at Gaeulbi once more and thought.
A Martial Artist? How could someone with such a profession be alive, breathing, and wandering this world?
