Chapter 25 – Level 2 Slaughter Platform

Chapter 25 – Level 2 Slaughter Platform

Si Shui Liu Nian: “Big Brother Wuwang, why did you send me such a precious axe? I should return it to you!”

Wuwang Kuangzun: “Because what you gave me was worth that much. Just keep it—I don’t like owing others. Alright, no more talk, I have things to do!”

Meng Ruoyun looked at the message Xiao Wuwang had sent, her heart stirring with ripples of emotion.

“He must be worried that I’m collecting resources too slowly, which is why he mailed me this precious axe,” she murmured softly, the corners of her mouth lifting unconsciously.

Afterward, she focused intently on the path ahead of the train, not wanting to miss a single treasure chest!

Because any treasure chest might contain something Big Brother Wuwang needed!

——————

A flash of silver light streaked by.

Xiao Wuwang immediately pulled the train’s handbrake.

The train came to a steady stop right in front of the treasure chest.

A Wooden Treasure Chest—better than nothing, at least.

Xiao Wuwang picked up the chest without even bothering to open it, then restarted the train and continued forward.

Time flew by, and it was nearly 8 o’clock.

Along the way, Xiao Wuwang had collected a total of eight treasure chests: three Wooden Treasure Chests, three Black Iron Treasure Chests, one Bronze Treasure Chest, and one Silver Treasure Chest.

After opening them all together, Xiao Wuwang obtained: Bread ×2, Purified Water ×2, Pears ×5, Salt ×1, Antibiotics ×2, Iron ×20, Copper ×5, Rare Metal ×5, Mechanical Parts ×10, Electronic Components ×10, Iron Shovel ×1, Train Upgrade Shard ×2, Crossbow ×1, and a Type 92 Pistol ×1.

Additionally, two of the chests spawned monsters. One was a highly venomous scorpion; after slaying it, he only obtained a somewhat valuable venom sac. The other monster was a wild boar; after slaying it, he obtained 100 kilograms of wild boar meat.

All in all, not bad!

This was the Novice Protection Period, especially the first three days—the treasure chest drop rate was astonishingly high.

Of course, this also had to do with Xiao Wuwang’s train being relatively fast and covering a greater distance.

If he activated the speed privileges, the treasure chest drop rate would likely be even higher tomorrow!

Just as he finished tallying his gains, the system’s voice began to sound.

[Ding!]

[The train is about to pull into station.]

[Your current station site is the Level 2 Slaughter Platform—Dawn Town.]

[Slaying a Level 1 monster earns 1 point; slaying a Level 2 monster earns 2 points. Final rewards will be distributed based on Slaughter Points.]

[This station’s danger rating: High Risk.]

[Now, please prepare to face your second platform challenge!]

Xiao Wuwang’s gaze sharpened, then brightened instantly.

Slaughter Platforms could be dangerous, but they also might not be.

Since it was still the novice period, there likely wouldn’t be many monsters near the platform. As long as he didn’t stray too far from it, there shouldn’t be any danger.

As for real danger, that depended on how ambitious one was.

Slaughter Platform maps were often simple: Supply Crates existed at the core of the map. The closer one got to the Supply Crate, the more concentrated and powerful the surrounding monsters became.

To obtain a Supply Crate, one often had to fight through the entire map!

Having been reborn, Xiao Wuwang naturally wouldn’t allow himself to pass through this station idly. Fortunately, he had good luck—Si Shui Liu Nian had sent him 10 portions of gunpowder, allowing him to prepare 1,000 bullets in advance!

If he used all 1,000 bullets, he was sure to reap a bountiful harvest!

At that moment, the system notice ended. Light brightened ahead, and his vision range instantly widened.

“Clatter, clatter…”

Xiao Wuwang pulled the handbrake, and the train slowly pulled into the station, coming to a halt.

He didn’t immediately disembark, instead observing for a while to confirm that there were no monsters on the platform before cautiously jumping off.

Xiao Wuwang checked his equipment and supplies.

He carried a QBU-191 Precision Rifle (Modified) in his hands, a Beretta Pistol (Modified) holstered at his waist, and a Black Iron Dagger strapped to his leg—these were all the weapons he had for this journey.

In his Portable Space, aside from two slots occupied by the Crimson Flame Bear’s corpse and blood, the remaining eight slots were filled entirely with ammunition.

Exiting the platform, Xiao Wuwang carefully surveyed his surroundings.

Dilapidated buildings and chaotic streets exuded an air of deathly stillness and desolation.

Without needing to guess, Xiao Wuwang knew this was a post-apocalyptic map!

On the surface, the place appeared utterly desolate, but the slightest disturbance would immediately attract hordes of zombies and monsters.

Once aware of his situation, Xiao Wuwang quickly identified a relatively taller building nearby, and a combat plan swiftly formed in his mind.

Hugging the wall, he cautiously made his way toward that building.

“Crack!”

However, an unexpected mishap occurred. Not far into his journey, he stepped on and snapped a dry branch.

Immediately afterward, a low growl echoed from the ruins to his side.

Since the monsters had already been alerted, Xiao Wuwang abandoned stealth and quickened his pace, sprinting toward the target building.

“Woof, woof, woof…”

Three low barks rang out.

While running, Xiao Wuwang glanced back and saw three Zombie Hounds charging toward him at high speed.

Just as they were about to catch up, he dodged behind a low wall, narrowly avoiding the three Zombie Hounds.

“Bang, bang…”

Xiao Wuwang raised his rifle, aimed at the three Zombie Hounds, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

“Pfft, pfft”—the bullets pierced into the hounds’ bodies.

One was directly hit in the head and died instantly.

Another took two shots to the chest; though not dead, it was severely wounded and collapsed, no longer a threat.

The last one had a leg shattered, but it seemed oblivious to pain, dragging its mangled body as it frantically lunged at Xiao Wuwang.

A cold glint flashed in Xiao Wuwang’s eyes. Without hesitation, he fired again.

“Bang!” The bullet precisely pierced the Zombie Hound’s skull. It twitched a few times before falling completely still.

After dealing with the three Zombie Hounds, Xiao Wuwang didn’t linger and continued sprinting toward the building.

The commotion from the battle instantly roused the entire town, with guttural groans and cries echoing from all directions.

The zombies in the town had been awakened!

Reaching the building, Xiao Wuwang slung his rifle over his back and drew his pistol.

The stairwell was relatively narrow; if danger arose, the pistol would be more agile and easier to handle.

It was a two-story building. Xiao Wuwang kicked open the wooden door.

“Bang!”

“Bang!”

Two consecutive shots took down a zombie blocking the doorway, and he immediately headed for the stairs.

The second floor was clear of zombies. Without stopping, Xiao Wuwang rushed straight to the rooftop.

The rooftop wasn’t locked, but it only had a not-so-sturdy iron door.

If zombies swarmed in, it likely wouldn’t hold for long.

After locking the door, Xiao Wuwang switched his weapon back to the rifle.

Then, selecting a position on the rooftop with a good vision range, he set up his rifle and began scanning the area through the four-power scope.

At this moment, more and more zombies on the street were being awakened, then trudged numbly toward the small building where Xiao Wuwang was.
