Chapter 51 – Waiting Room Before the Debut

Chapter 51 – Waiting Room Before the Debut

This morning, a whole team of specialist female white priestesses showed up bright and early in this lavish waiting room to handle my hair and makeup.

 Hehe.

Getting my hair done up in a half-up style for the first time, putting on makeup for the first time—it had me feeling all lightheaded and giddy.

I changed into a white long dress extravagantly adorned with lace, slipped on a pair of five-centimeter heels, and transformed into a completely different person.

“Lady Saintess, you look absolutely stunning.”

“It suits you perfectly.”

When I stepped out of the changing area and approached the full-length mirror, I couldn’t help but twirl my skirt in delight.

 Wow.

Not to toot my own horn, but I’d really transformed into something beautiful.

“Thank you so much. I look like a whole different person. Professionals are amazing.”

“Not at all. It’s just your natural beauty shining through, Lady Saintess.”

Then I turned back to Bordo, who had prepared everything, gathered the hem of my dress, and curtsied as gracefully as I could.

“Thank you so much for preparing such a wonderful dress and shoes today, along with everything else.”

Bordo had tailored everything to my tastes—not just the dress, shoes, and accessories, but even the cosmetics, shampoo, and soap.

As expected from someone I’d known for so long; he had me all figured out.

Bordo squinted as if dazzled, then said, “It’s the greatest honor,” and bowed theatrically alongside Coden.

Finally, finally, I could thank him properly.

“I’ve kept you waiting a long time since you gave me my first heels. Now I can finally start repaying the favor.”

“Being allowed to present those first heels to a little princess like you is our pride and joy.”

Bordo gazed at me with deep nostalgia.

 Hehe. Little princess, huh…?

Come to think of it, he used to call me that sometimes back in the day.

“Lady Saintess, it’s about time to call everyone in.”

With preparations complete, the white priestess summoned Gain and the others into the room.

They came in chattering noisily, then caught sight of me and froze, collectively holding their breath.

“「「「「!!」」」」”

 Hehe. Kinda embarrassing.

It’s all thanks to these white priestesses’ killer before-and-after magic.

To hide my bashfulness, I flashed a saintess-like, elegant smile. My master exclaimed in surprise, “Well, now,” while Gain grinned and said something rude like, “Talk about a glow-up.”

Fernet chuckled, “You look like a different person,” and Heart smiled his usual gentle smile, saying, “You look beautiful.”

“Heart. Today marks my graduation from being your daughter. Thank you so, so much.”

Heart was set to be publicly revealed as having been on a top-secret church mission, posing as my father to protect me while faking my age.

“It was my choice. From now on, I’ll protect you not as a daughter, but as the Saintess.”

Today, now that I was fifteen, I would take part in the grand parade unveiling me as the Saintess.

I’d assumed it would be a debut party at the castle, so this came as a surprise.

They’d told me to act graceful and mystical all day to inspire dreams in the people, so I had to give it my all.

This was the Saintess’s debut stage.

That said, Gain and the others looked incredibly dashing in their Holy Knights’ formal uniforms.

I wanted to throw his “glow-up” line right back at him.

“Hehe. Don’t you all look wonderful too? They suit you perfectly!”

“Yeah. For you, I’d wear anything.”

Gain was turning red already—what a shy guy.

They’d been assigned as close escorts for me and the Pope, joining the parade together.

Heart was in charge of wind magic to scatter flower petals, while my master would mistify water to shower sparkles around me.

Talk about the organizers going all out.

I’d ride not in an open car, but an open carriage, casting wide-area fatigue recovery magic on the crowds left and right while beaming smiles in every direction from the Pope’s side.

They’d stocked a ton of mana recovery potions at my feet, apparently.

Seriously, how far are they going with this?

We’d head out from the capital’s central district, loop around the whole city, and return to end it.

Alright, let’s do this! We psyched ourselves up and headed for the parade carriage.
