Chapter 131: School of Brute Force
Chapter 131: School of Brute Force
Unfortunately, no matter how these Demon Race students tried to investigate Zhai Guangyi, they couldn’t obtain any useful information. However, there were rumors that the living corpse beside the Forest Elf was once the Demon King’s Maid and had already touched the threshold of a Demigod. A powerhouse of this level was now attending classes alongside them.
This made the students even more eager to learn about that Forest Elf. After all, the environment within the academy was relatively peaceful, and many Demigods couldn’t endure the monotony of daily life. The Demon King’s Magic Academy operated under a very open system. Apart from studying theoretical knowledge, students often relied on practical combat, and many had opportunities to join the Demon King’s Army in battles against enemies.
To help them adapt to the battlefield environment in advance, the academy was divided into the School of Brute Force and the School of Intellect. The School of Brute Force mostly consisted of Demigods like Hong Ren, who prioritized their own strength and leaned toward killing enemies on the battlefield. The School of Intellect, on the other hand, wasn’t necessarily about being smarter; rather, it focused on strategizing how to defeat more enemies with limited forces on the battlefield.
Those in the School of Intellect also respected strength but leaned more toward command. Most of these individuals were trained by the great Mage Lvqi. In the Demon King’s Army, intelligence alone was useless; one also needed formidable strength to secure their position.
If Lilith didn’t possess the status of a Demigod, no matter how talented she was, it would be difficult for her to gain credibility within the Demon Race.
Every year, the academy organized conflicts between the two schools, allowing them to clash, compete, and progress together.
Before enrolling, Lanni had made thorough preparations and gained a clear understanding of the two schools. These two factions had been in conflict within the academy for a long time, and essentially every New Student had to choose one to join that suited them; otherwise, it would be difficult to survive between the two factions.
“Master, which school should we join?” Lanni felt that Zhai Guangyi would likely join the School of Intellect, as the magic system there was more detailed. The School of Brute Force, on the other hand, emphasized Spartan-style education, which wasn’t very suitable for a physically delicate Forest Elf.
Zhai Guangyi pondered for a moment. These schools felt somewhat like clubs, and the authority of these clubs was significant. The Magic Academy only required students to meet the strength standards during exams, but the clubs were the ones truly responsible for managing the students—students managing students.
The Demon Race was simply that straightforward and brutal.
“Which school do you prefer?” Zhai Guangyi wasn’t particularly concerned about either school; to him, they were both optional. But since Lanni had brought it up, he decided to go along with her and immerse himself in the campus life.
“The School of Intellect seems more suitable,” Lanni replied confidently. Given how much knowledge Zhai Guangyi had discussed with the Honored One Lvqi, he would surely fit well in the School of Intellect.
Zhai Guangyi nodded.
“Then you join the School of Intellect, and I’ll join the School of Brute Force. Let’s see what we can learn from each.”
Zhai Guangyi didn’t consider himself particularly clever. With his Demon Spirit Avatar, he now possessed some brute strength, and it wouldn’t be impossible to upgrade it into the Special Skill, Demon Spirit Avatar.
After reviewing Lanni’s class notes, Zhai Guangyi felt that if Lanni joined the School of Intellect, he might gain significant insights as well—perhaps even more than if he were to join it himself.
Lanni possessed exceptional learning talent and was extraordinarily diligent. The Demon King had truly sent him a great talent; such a genius couldn’t just be a maid. Once she mastered everything at the Magic Academy, he would take her to teach at the school near his True Body—these were all important resources.
Hearing Zhai Guangyi’s words, Lanni was somewhat bewildered. How could things play out like this? What had she come here to accompany him in studying for, then?
Nevertheless, Lanni complied with Zhai Guangyi’s instructions and chose to join the School of Intellect, while Zhai Guangyi intended to join the School of Brute Force.
They parted ways on the path to the activity classrooms. Lanni headed to the registration point for the School of Intellect, while Zhai Guangyi entered the activity classroom of the School of Brute Force.
It was a massive arena, or rather, an arena-style classroom. Students typically engaged in duels here, and even teachers taught combat techniques in this space.
This classroom served as the gathering place for the School of Brute Force. Upon entering, Zhai Guangyi saw several minotaurs dueling on the arena below—a full display of raw power and muscle clashing against muscle.
At the entrance stood a Demon Race female student responsible for registering members of the school. Those in the Brute Force faction generally didn’t cause trouble for fellow members, while those without registered affiliations were considered competitors of the Brute Force faction.
Zhai Guangyi now wanted to thoroughly understand the Demon King’s methods for cultivating reserve forces. The Demon King’s Army, as the continent’s most powerful military, wasn’t solely due to the Demon King’s own strength but also the formidable Demon Race army.
In truth, compared to other factions, the Demon King wasn’t overwhelmingly powerful—some might even say relatively weak. The Demon Race had no Demon God; the Demon King was their pinnacle combatant. Yet, Zhai Guangyi already knew of two Deities: one was the Dragonkin Deity in central Mesopotamia, Dragon God Radon.
The other was the Human Church’s sole True God, Church True God Sophia.
When he previously encountered Lucy, Zhai Guangyi had noted this name. Then, during his conflict with Seta, the Blessed One of the Church Demigod Rui Jielude was also Sophia, prompting Zhai Guangyi to have Xiong conduct some investigations.
According to the history of the Demon Race wars, the Human True God Sophia had never appeared. Even human records rarely mentioned this name; the Human Church simply referred to Sophia as the True God.
Church Bishops annually selected humans for divine blessings in the cathedral, but based on Xiong Da’s investigation, Believers had never seen the True God—even blessings were performed remotely.
Xiong Da gleaned from Lucy that she didn’t even know the name Sophia as the Blessed One, only that it was bestowed by the Human Church True God, as had been the case throughout human history.
Zhai Guangyi also had Xiong Er, who possessed Appraisal, examine Lucy’s Blessed One through the Magic Mirror. Surprisingly, Xiong Er couldn’t see it, leading Zhai Guangyi to believe it was the status conferred by the Unique Skill ‘World’ that allowed him to perceive this name.
Without a Deity, the Demon Race had still become the continent’s foremost power, a feat that left Zhai Guangyi deeply impressed by the Demon King’s methods. This Magic Academy likely held many ways to enhance overall strength, and whether it was the School of Brute Force or the intellectual faction, Zhai Guangyi had no intention of missing out. That was why he had sent Lanni to the intellectual faction, tasking her with summarizing insights for him, while he himself was better suited to learning the more mindless combat techniques through observation.
Thus, Zhai Guangyi arrived at the activity classroom of the School of Brute Force, ready to witness its formidable style. The minotaurs who had been fighting in the arena all turned their heads to look at the frail-looking Zhai Guangyi.
