Chapter 132: Arena
Chapter 132: Arena
“Are you a student at our university?” The Demon Race girl looked at Zhai Guangyi, a Forest Elf, with some doubt. After all, she had never seen a Forest Elf among the Demon Race, and it was already a rare occurrence for the Demon King’s Magic University to have a Forest Elf.
“Yes, this is my student card. I want to join the School of Brute Force.” Zhai Guangyi took out the student ID Lanni had given him. He had heard that in the past, special magic balls were used for identity verification, but those were too large and inconvenient. Her Highness Lilith had made improvements, and since then, identity cards, student IDs, and other documents had been introduced.
The Demon Race girl took the student card and looked at it.
Name: Zhai Guangyi (Special Admission Student)
Race: Forest Elf
Gender: Male
Level: 50
Seeing the gender written on it, the Demon girl looked at Zhai Guangyi with confusion, then lowered her head to carefully examine the information on the card, looked up at Zhai Guangyi again, and let out a piercing scream from her throat, as if she had encountered something unbelievable.
Zhai Guangyi probably guessed why. There was nothing he could do about it—he didn’t want it either.
This scream immediately drew the attention of all the Demon Race members in the arena toward Zhai Guangyi’s direction. The minotaur who had been fighting in the arena had already become distracted upon seeing Zhai Guangyi, and now that everyone had noticed, they all grew restless. They rushed toward the arena exit, scrambling over each other. Seeing the Demon Race members charging toward him like an army, Zhai Guangyi was completely stunned.
“Junior, do you want to join our School of Brute Force?”
“Do you need a Senior to introduce it to you?”
“We’ve developed the latest fighting techniques today. Let us demonstrate them for you.”
Those tall and mighty Demon Race members rushed over to show off their powerful muscles, even demonstrating their Martial Techniques on the spot for Zhai Guangyi to see.
“This is their enthusiastic way of welcoming newcomers. Don’t mind it.”
The Demon Race girl squeezed out from the crowd of muscular men and returned the student ID to Zhai Guangyi.
“That’s fine.”
Zhai Guangyi took the student card, looked at the Demon Race youths who were enthusiastically talking and demonstrating their Martial Techniques, and nodded with a twitching corner of his mouth. It was just that their enthusiastic way was a bit too overwhelming.
“Do you really want to join our School of Brute Force?”
The Demon Race maiden still wanted to confirm with Zhai Guangyi seriously, but before Zhai Guangyi could reply, she was pushed aside by a giant Horse-Faced Demonkin.
“He already said he wants to join us. Don’t bother with so much tedious paperwork. Let’s just get started.”
The giant Horse-Faced man seemed to have no regard for the maiden, as he and other minotaur Demon Race members showed off their muscles, even holding hands to demonstrate together.
Zhai Guangyi had originally intended to join the School of Brute Force, but seeing the way these Seniors behaved, he felt something was off. Maybe he should ask Lanni to switch with him.
But these mighty Seniors couldn’t wait for Zhai Guangyi to join. They immediately escorted him toward the arena. Zhai Guangyi could only think, “Since I’m already here, I might as well go with the flow.”
Zhai Guangyi was placed on the spectator stand of the arena. After one of the Seniors confirmed with the Demon Race girl that Zhai Guangyi’s joining procedures were complete and signed for him, everyone shouted, “Welcome aboard!” Then they told Zhai Guangyi to learn and comprehend on his own.
After that, everyone scattered in a flurry, as if Zhai Guangyi had never joined them, continuing with their own tasks without paying him any further attention. The warm welcome he received upon arrival had now turned into complete indifference, leaving Zhai Guangyi utterly bewildered. What was going on?
The Demon Race maiden struggled through the crowd to reach Zhai Guangyi.
“Hey, this is just how things are here. Girls don’t get treated very well, but you can still learn a lot,” the Demon Race maiden explained to Zhai Guangyi.
“No, I’m not a girl—”
Before Zhai Guangyi could finish, the Demon Race girl covered his mouth, placing her index finger to her lips as she glanced around cautiously. She then let out a sigh of relief.
Leaning close to Zhai Guangyi’s ear, she whispered softly.
“Don’t be fooled by the fact that there are more men than women here. Many of the men have strange preferences. If you don’t want to be pursued by men, it’s best not to reveal your gender.”
“Huh? It’s like that here?” Zhai Guangyi hadn’t expected such a situation. Forget calling it the School of Brute Force—they might as well call it the Banana School. With so many perverts gathered in one place, could anything be normal?
“Don’t question them. The philosophy here is, ‘With no women in your heart, your blade will naturally be divine.’ Only those of the same gender truly understand each other. Although you can learn many Martial Techniques created by geniuses here, you have to endure the exclusion. If you don’t want to be taken advantage of, keep yourself hidden.”
The Demon Race maiden earnestly explained the rules of the place to Zhai Guangyi, who nodded seriously. This place was truly terrifying.
Zhai Guangyi casually used Appraisal on the Demon Race girl and was shocked to discover that this person named Huide was actually a man—just like himself. No wonder he understood so much. Thankfully, it was Huide who had checked his Student ID, or else he might have faced the “kind attention” of the seniors. Zhai Guangyi began to feel grateful for his appearance. This place was just too bizarre.
“You’re a Senior!” Zhai Guangyi couldn’t help but exclaim, prompting Huide to hurriedly cover his mouth, visibly nervous.
“Don’t say it out loud. It’s a sore subject. Right now, you’re probably the only one who knows. Don’t tell anyone, or I’ll expose you too.” Huide hadn’t expected this New Student to figure out his gender, but to be safe, he issued a warning.
“Don’t worry, we’re in the same boat now,” Zhai Guangyi chuckled. Though he was joking, he wasn’t afraid of these young Demon Race fellows.
“The rules here are simple: it’s all about fighting each other, day in and day out. In this Arena, battles never end. As soon as one fight finishes, another begins. Anyone can step onto the stage. As long as they don’t have classes, members of the School of Brute Force come to the Arena to hone their Martial Techniques and develop their own.”
Huide sighed as he explained the rules to Zhai Guangyi, the newcomer. It was exactly as the other students had said—learn on your own, comprehend on your own.
Martial Techniques are quite similar to Magic, both involving the application of Magic Power to enhance one’s physical body or combat skills. Some Martial Techniques can even rival the effects of Skills.
Zhai Guangyi recalled the first time he encountered Luke, Mark, and the others. They were highly skilled in using Martial Techniques, applying additional effects to their weapons. Even a Swordsman not adept in Magic could utilize Magic Power to enhance their close combat abilities.
This Arena of the School of Brute Force employed the simplest and most straightforward method to train students: allowing them to comprehend Martial Techniques through endless battles and learn from others’ techniques. Once you stepped onto the Arena Platform, countless challengers would take turns fighting you. Even if the challenged was completely defeated, the battle would not end.
There was more than one Arena Platform here, capable of accommodating hundreds of people fighting simultaneously. Moreover, the platforms had automatic repair functions and random battle scene switching capabilities. This was likely the effect of a Golden Quality Magic Artifact.
