Chapter 11: Leaked Intel
Chapter 11: Leaked Intel
Kamiyu had narrowly escaped death in the subway station. The threat from Mohawk was only temporarily resolved—she needed to find a way to deal with him.
Now, she had to regroup, stay calm, and eliminate other Players to obtain more Enhancement Points.
Kamiyu thought to herself: earlier, with a single shot, she had blown Mohawk’s head apart, reducing it entirely to pulp. This meant her Signature Sniper Rifle possessed immense Attack Power.
Through the Scope, she had clearly seen that after the hit, Mohawk collapsed as if dead, his body left to suffer from the inertia of the Damage.
The Player count hadn’t decreased, leading Kamiyu to guess that Mohawk’s class Skill had saved his life.
Even without using 【Headshot Strike】, she had nearly taken Mohawk out in an instant. If she were to enhance her Signature Sniper Rifle, she couldn’t imagine what the consequences might be.
Cautious by nature, she decided not to use her Enhancement Points just yet—they were far too scarce, with only one point awarded per enemy Kill.
No matter what, she had to keep at least one Enhancement Point as a trump card. Therefore, Kamiyu needed to Kill other Players to acquire more Enhancement Points.
Thus, she made her way to the highest point in Dragon Roar City: the presidential suite on the 35th floor of the Ritz-Carlton, a five-star hotel.
She entered the room, forcefully moved the sofa to block the doorway, then pulled out her legendary-tier Ceramic Blade—sharp enough to slice through iron—and directly cut through the wall connecting to the adjacent room.
A cunning rabbit has three burrows. She had booked two rooms, with the neighboring one also belonging to her. This method might not necessarily keep other Players or special Troops out, but it could at least buy her some time.
Observing the game Interface Panel, Kamiyu noticed the Player count remained at 11/12. Over three hours had passed, and no further deaths had occurred. The only Player who had died so far was Huang Kun, whom Kamiyu had ambushed in the Black Sphere Room.
Uncertain whether this was good or bad news, Kamiyu let out a sigh of relief. She retrieved all the firearms from her Storage, reloaded them with Bullets, chambered rounds, and then returned them to Storage.
Next, Kamiyu used the Ceramic Blade to carve a large hole in the tempered glass, then cut out the entire pane and lifted it into the room.
A chilly wind immediately swept into the warm room, causing the temperature to drop instantly.
She repeated the process, “opening windows” on the west, south, and east sides of both rooms, placing tables beside each newly created opening.
After setting up her Sniper Camp platforms, Kamiyu returned to her true nature. Lying prone on the table by the south-facing window, she remained perfectly still, setting up her Sniper Rifle and aiming it at the bustling streets of Dragon Roar City.
Why wasn’t Kamiyu worried about the Dungeon Boss-tier Mohawk finding her?
Because he had caused too much commotion. Now that special Troops had entered the city, their first target would be him. The heavy firepower of the special Troops would be more than enough to give him a hard time.
Additionally, with other Players lying in wait, ready to reap the rewards, Kamiyu wasn’t afraid of Mohawk quickly locating her.
The special Troops had implemented a Curfew order, which actually made it easier for Kamiyu to spot and lock onto her targets.
Meanwhile, at the frontline command camp of the special Troops dealing with the Black Sphere, disguised as an Armed Police Unit.
Player Zhang Wei was covered in horrifying, gruesome wounds. Only two of his ten fingers remained, all his teeth had been pulled out, his face was bruised and swollen, and his head was swollen to the point of resembling an alien.
He was now barely breathing, hanging on by a thread, as if each breath might be his last.
This Zhang Wei was utterly useless—he hadn’t retained much information from the Black Sphere Room, leading Xu Liwen to believe he was stubbornly refusing to talk.
Under Xu Liwen’s “enhanced memory recovery technique,” the special troops managed to extract all the limited intelligence he had.
“Colonel Hu, it’s clear now. Aside from this waste of space, there are ten other Players in this game. The rules are the same as before—only one can survive within 72 hours. There are 68 hours left,” Xu Liwen reported.
“What’s different this time is that the Players’ Talents and professions are far stronger than during my round,” Xu Liwen said, dropping her relaxed demeanor and speaking seriously.
“Among these ten, the most powerful Talent is 【Future Perception】, which allows the user to observe everything that will happen within the next five seconds. It’s possessed by a man in his thirties named Zhong Hao. And then there’s…” Xu Liwen continued her report one by one.
The staff officers in the tent immediately began gathering information on these individuals based on the limited intelligence.
“I believe the most dangerous Player is this Zhong Hao. Being able to predict the future five seconds ahead is simply unbelievable. If I were to fight him, I’m not even sure if my Nullification Talent would work,” Xu Liwen expressed her concern.
“Wait a moment. What about the information on that pink-haired girl Zhang Wei mentioned?” Colonel Hu believed this seemingly unremarkable pink-haired girl was actually the most dangerous character.
“Zhang Wei said the pink-haired girl didn’t reveal her name, and she was vague about her Talent and Skills. What’s the issue? Based on game experience, people like her are just summoned by the Black Sphere to make up the numbers,” Xu Liwen said dismissively.
However, Colonel Hu didn’t see it that way.
“A Talent that uses guns, shouting ‘Enhancement’ before taking advantage of everyone’s distraction to launch a sneak attack from behind right at the start, instantly eliminating the most dangerous Player. Making the Player with the strongest Talent and character Skills, who originally had the best chance of winning the game, drop out from the very beginning,” Colonel Hu pondered seriously in his mind.
Colonel Hu’s sharp judgment told him that this level of cunning, boldness, and ruthless, cold-blooded nature destined this pink-haired girl to be the most formidable character in this game.
Future Prediction, Mimicry, Metal Warriors, and the mysterious yet daring pink-haired girl—this cleanup mission was likely the most difficult one since the special troops for the Black Sphere Game were established.
“Alright, everyone synchronize your watches. From now on, we’ll compress these Players’ living space, hunt them down, and make them turn on each other,” Colonel Hu commanded.
“Yes, sir.”
Under the night sky, Dragon Roar City, which would normally be vibrant and bustling with neon lights and noise at this hour, had become desolate and tense due to the curfew order. Not a soul or vehicle could be seen on the streets.
Suddenly, an explosion from the district shattered the silence of the streets.
“Boom!”—the sound of a hand grenade detonating.
“Rat-tat-tat-tat!”—the firing of a submachine gun.
“Reloading.”
“Bring up the flamethrower.”
Upon entering Dragon Roar City, the special troops had taken over the city’s public security system and intercepted anti-terrorism information.
They quickly located Mohawk based on the intel.
This monster had intended to harvest the lives of homeless people to replenish its own, but the special troops found it first.
Humans and the monsterized Player officially opened fire.
“Gah.” A row of special forces soldiers were instantly cut down by a swiftly swung cleaver.
“Insects.” Mohawk uttered a terrifying sound.
His body had now become even more horrifying, entirely encased in exoskeleton, with two blades attached to tentacles on his hands swinging wildly, resembling a nightmarish alien.
“Why won’t it die?”
“Quick, call Captain Xu for reinforcements.”
