Chapter 110: Changing Tactics, Building a Core Team
Chapter 110: Changing Tactics, Building a Core Team
It turned out that Lei Yao had secretly colluded with the Holy Light Church in an attempt to seize the Main City Kaijistan.
In a secret room within the spire of the Holy Light Cathedral, An Dao watched Kamiyu’s retreating back.
A priest asked, “Lord An Dao, should we eliminate this new Beta Tester in advance? While she still doesn’t have her own Sanctuary.”
An Dao shook his head, a contemptuous expression appearing on his gloomy, ashen face. “A Beta Tester without even a Sanctuary is just fish on a chopping block. We can kill her anytime.”
Indeed, for an Old Monster at Max Level 50, killing a 17-level “Newbie Player” would be extremely easy.
Still unaware, Kamiyu was deeply entangled in this vortex. She felt an inexplicable unease and was hurrying toward the Guild Manor.
Although she didn’t know what trickery was afoot, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. That priest, An Dao, was hiding many things.
On the way, she didn’t tell Jack about what happened during her first visit to the Holy Light Cathedral. It wasn’t because she distrusted him, but because she feared he might be used by others.
Some things were better kept to herself.
Guild Manor, Li Changde’s office.
Seeing the two of them return, Li Changde immediately stood up to greet them. “You’ve arrived, esteemed guests.”
“Guild Leader, there’s no need for such formality. What’s the current situation?” Kamiyu also understood the severity and urgency of the matter.
She needed to Kill monsters when the Hell Tide arrived to fill the Heavenly Father Altar fragments. This time, she couldn’t be a deserter.
“The situation has worsened. Scout Players on the front lines have observed that the Aberrant Beast Demons are becoming agitated much faster. Some vanguard Aberrant Beasts have already advanced to within 50 kilometers of the Main City and are expected to arrive tomorrow night—a full day earlier than previously estimated,” Li Changde said urgently.
“Moreover, many of the Veteran Players who originally agreed to defend the city have gone Offline,” Li Changde added with a frown.
“How many have gone Offline?”
“How many troops do we have now?” Kamiyu asked a different question.
“Three hundred Veteran Players have left. Our Guild has recruited two hundred new members, so our total Guild strength is now eight hundred. Including other Solo Players, small Guilds, Squads, and Clubs, we have roughly less than thirteen hundred,” Li Changde reported, still rounding up the numbers. In reality, it was just over eleven hundred.
“I’ve never fought in a Hell Tide before. Based on your experience, Guild Leader Li, what are the chances of successfully defending this time?” Kamiyu asked.
“Unfortunately, none. The probability of holding out is zero,” Li Changde said dejectedly.
Jack’s eyes widened.
“Are you kidding me? You gave me a whole speech earlier to make me stay, to stop me from farming the Altar of Lilith, and now you’re telling me we can’t hold the city?” Kamiyu slammed the table in anger, feeling as if she had been played.
“Miss Kamiyu, please calm down. Times and circumstances change; the Battlefield situation is constantly shifting. Because the Hell Tide is arriving early again, the Veteran Players’ confidence has collapsed, and they’ve fled Offline.”
“But we will honor our agreement. We will unite all the forces in the city and do our utmost to help Miss Kamiyu earn enough points to farm the Altar of Lilith.”
“We will build a Sanctuary on the spot. Even if the Main City truly falls, we will still have a place to take shelter,” Li Changde stated the final decision reached after discussion.
“But if the main city falls, and the last main city of Crimson Earth is lost, the real world will be invaded, and more than half the population will die,” Kamiyu sighed.
No one could say such words lightly—the death of half the population.
“This is also a fate we cannot escape, just like the civilizations that existed before Crimson Earth,” Li Changde said pessimistically.
“Fate? What a laughable excuse,” Kamiyu sneered.
“As long as I’m here, we won’t lose. What are you thinking, Guild Leader Li?” Kamiyu stood up.
She casually tossed out a crate of 10 Minor Health Potions and confidently said to Guild Leader Li, “I have another 1,000 crates like this in my spatial storage.
As long as there are enough materials, I can make any potion—whether it’s medium, large, giant, or even Super-Type Healing Potions.
And other potions too, like ice, fire, poison, lightning, and Dark Resistance Potions. I’ll make as many potions as there are materials.”
Li Changde’s expression shifted to one of hope and pleasant surprise as he said excitedly, “Really? Will it take time?”
Kamiyu didn’t hold back: “Time? I don’t need any cooldown time. I think the biggest obstacle is the time it takes for you to farm materials.”
An army marches on its stomach, and in Crimson Earth, the most valuable provisions are Health Restoration Potions and Resistance Potions. With enough potions, they could make up for the lack of healer classes in the team.
“And before, didn’t your entire guild specialize in running instance dungeons to farm construction materials? With other materials, I can craft potions, weapons, armor, items, and equipment,” Kamiyu said directly, no longer hiding anything.
Jack widened his eyes and looked at Kamiyu, saying, “Are you really going to do this? Won’t your previous plans go to waste?”
Kamiyu shook her head and said, “There’s no other way. I originally thought An Dao from the Holy Light Church was trustworthy, but judging by his expression, I can tell he’s up to something behind the scenes.
To protect my own interests, I have to make a move. I can’t just sit back and wait.”
Only then did Jack withdraw his hand, no longer trying to stop Kamiyu.
Li Changde had already guessed something like this but hadn’t dared to say it. Now, he tentatively asked, “Miss Kamiyu, from what you’re saying, besides potions, you can actually make other things too?”
“Exactly,” Kamiyu replied cleanly and decisively.
Kamiyu had seriously considered the pros and cons of continuing to hide the truth versus revealing part of it. Now was a critical moment, and success or failure depended entirely on this battle.
If they lost, they would die outright. If they won, they could take everything—build a new main city, become its lord, and rise to the top in one step.
Even when fishing, you have to bait the hook first. You can’t win a war without paying a price—this isn’t child’s play.
Based on her observations, Li Changde was trustworthy, and she ranked him as her third most trusted person.
If she wanted to build a main city and become its lord, she would need her own authority and her own people.
And the Invincible Guild was the best choice—a ready-made team with a complete structure and decent combat power. It would be a great shame if they were all sacrificed in this Hell Tide.
Li Changde suddenly realized why Kamiyu had been buying materials and why she had been hiding her identity.
Due to the Construction Sage Talent being a unique talent in the entire game—Crimson Earth has no Blacksmiths—the only other two professions capable of crafting items are Alchemists and Pharmacists.
If players needed equipment, they had no choice but to re-enter Instance Dungeons to obtain it.
Li Changde thought excitedly that if Kamiyu’s Construction Talent could operate at full capacity, combined with his own management of the Guild, they could soar straight to the top and dominate the entire Crimson Earth.
He exclaimed loudly, “Summon Qian Ming, head of the Logistics Department, and Vice Guild Leader Wu Yong.”
